Goldcoin (GLD) was launched in May 2013 not July 2013. 

Looking forward to it I have the site bookmarked and will check it periodically. There is potential here as a 'go-to' resource for cryptocurrency history. Listing them by date created would be interesting to see.

Excellent, thanks! Certainly hard to map so many coins. Could you make the circle larger, and add some space between the coin names? It would be cool to color code them, maybe based on # of transactions being made on each network? Any kind of indicator to show how much activity there is in the coin.

It's quite a lot of altcoins always reminds me of how the madness of the altcoin system grows

This is really impressive.  Following the list of altcoins had become impossible, but your representation does a great job of conveying the extent of the alt coin universe.

I wonder if there is some way to include the viability or value of the coins?  But that would probably be a major effort, and this is already really nice.

This is really cool! I've been interested in a project like this, making a genesis tree of Bitcoin and all its forks. Are you planning to include ALL altcoins ever made? Or only those that maintain an active network? I really like the idea, but looks like the map is very cluttered.

I know some coins were forked from DGC and they aren't on the map; likely many of them have died off.. this is an ambitious project! I'm keeping this website bookmarked and will reference it to others. Good luck mapping this mess out!

It's very good and useful detail on each coin when those are clicked.. though perhaps some users will miss that detail is avaliable.

I wonder you could also throw the same data into a d3:cluster dendrogram http://bl.ocks.org/mbostock/4063570 as an alternate way for the user to choose to display this detail.
