How about rename the forums to:

"Mining Hardware" (Mining Hardware)
and
"Hardware Development" (Custom Hardware)

Then, accordingly, based on a set date start filtering messages.

You should add companies that have cause problems and cost people Bitcoin to the list.

Yes, I'm saying Bitcoin and not fiat.  If a company cost the community Bitcoin but not Fiat it should make the scam list.

Two I can think of are:  Avalon / BFL

Game of preorders, potential delays, and other problems.

If you're looking to make money it's best to just buy bitcoin.  If you're looking to get an interesting computer hobby then custom hardware is good.

The only groups making money through custom hardware are the ASIC chip developers.  Everyone else is at their mercy, at least imho.

It's as custom as a custom / populated PCB except on a different difficulty scale similar to a custom case ....

Stuff like this confuses me.  Why are those websites selling at lower prices than the *official* re-sellers?

WTF would anyone, in their sane and right mind, buy off the Avalon website or from Tradehill?  Didn't tradehill have some kind of exclusivity with Avalon?  I thought it was advertised on their (Tradehill's) website but anything regarding 'exclusivity' isn't there anymore.

Blacklist all wallets/coins from Avalon / Avalon team?    

They stated a delivery timeline for chips.  That's a 100% delivery date within a certain timeline.

People were really responsible for sourcing their own PCBs and other components for that?  I really thought they came pre-assembled.  Please confirm?  Are you trolling or something?

I don't think anyone has to worry about those chips selling.

The probability of people bidding on them is low unless, somehow, someone 4 weeks, or more, looked in their crystal orb and decided to buy the PCBs to manufacture these ... lol

There was exactly no information given ahead of time for people even to prepare for a chip sale.  Are people supposed to pull PCBs, and components, out of their asses

Breach of contract.  I'm not going to say what I'd hope for.  I'm going to say what they did is insufficient with regards to compensation.

Why are you comparing HF batch 1 customers to what Avalon did?  Are these two issues the same?  Is this a whose e-p33n is bigger type of deal?

Also, who would bid on this based on a current announcement?  You'd have to rush the PCB and the components based on their design on the GITHUB and *PRAY* that it works.  There's no:

1) Sample chips
2) Examples of verified design based on GITHUB docs


The refund was only as a precaution to avoid litigation.  It can't avoid litigation due to breach of contract if someone wants to litigate ... more than likely they got legal counsel for this decision.  The chip refunds and delays are crap.  Avalon has not provided sufficient compensation for the refunds.

Bitfury Chips > Avalon Chips.

More than likely Avalon is looking for some cash flow to produce miners and, possibly, expect as much as 800-1000 btc from this auction to buy components ...
