Re: Current stance towards automatic service bumping bots?

...
Each bot will be the only one in its thread. They will not intersect and will not communicate with each other. They will only bump.
...

This would be caught very quickly and the bots would be banned in no time.

...
I would actually suggest bumping every 27-28 hours so that different time zones will see the thread at the top over time.

I like this idea. Bumping the thread while I am asleep could potentially be very beneficial.

...
...
Possibly limiting the threads they can bump per 24 hours could be an option to look at.

Perhaps I can already incorporate this into my bumping algorithm. I currently have three service topics. Bumping them with at least ±8 hours in between (or a couple more suggested by Quickseller) could do the trick.

I'll definitely try to look for ways to make the bumping not so cluttering. Perhaps something like bumping one topic at a time with a couple of hours in between.

- If the announcer doesn't have enough belief in his product to monitor his replies, then he is unlikely to support the product, and we should ignore it.

Similarly if the announcer doesn't have enough interest in the forum to become an active member, why should we consider his product.
...

I do agree with this if we are talking about the advertisement of new altcoins and projects in a similar fashion.

Let me clarify that my services consist of signature design, HTML/CSS banner design and freelance web developer/designer. I think the activity of a member is not (and should not be) taken into consideration as an important factor for these kinds of services. The activity of a member is by no means a good indicator of the quality of a product for these kinds of services. That is what portfolios are for.

...
If the thread doesn't get any active replies or comments, then it is unlikely to be of benefit to the members here, so it should be allowed to drop, and leave space for better quality products.
...

This is subjective and also highly dependent on the service. For example, my signature design topic has gained 3 replies since November 17, 2017, but I have had more than 20 clients since then.

Current stance towards automatic service bumping bots?
by

⭐ Merited by LoyceV (1)
I am currently planning on developing an automatic bump bot for some of the services I have listed in the Services section and was wondering if this does not interfere with any rules or regulations on this forum.

Some information about requirements I have set myself for the bot:

 - It will delete the previously posted bump message before posting a new bump message.
 - If it fails to delete the previous bump message, it will stop running immediately and stops posting any more bump messages to avoid cluttering.
 - Bumps will be posted every 24 hours (or slightly above that because of the no-delete rule for posts younger than 24 hours).
 - The scraping of posts is done using the wap2 version of the post.
 - The bump message remains the same message during all times (and includes a line of text explaining that it is an automatically posted message).

Is this allowed? Should I use a new newbie account or is using my own account for this okay?

Thanks in advance,

Adriandmen

Hey, this guy is really good. He was helping with signatures for several projects (Crypviser, Polybius, Humaniq etc). The work has always been done in time.
P.S. Different account now.  Wink

Hey, thank you for the kind words! It's been a pleasure working with you Smiley

Hello,

I'm very much interested to see your work and speak a lot about what can you do with our future platform.

Please send us a PM with your email

Hey, thank you for your interest. Could you please explain what kind of work I would be doing in a PM (or even as a reply on this thread)?

I also found this spammer

What good on Apollo currency, I'm in for it..
No!! Cryptocurrency will and will never die...
Yeah,, sure it will survive..
To my own belief they are scam

This user summarizes the ideas of the favorable replies from a certain thread into 4-7 words. Hope he/she will also be reported.
This is the link to his/her account: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=2349397

Well, I think this is more of a dubious case. The quality might not be of the highest form, but I would not immediately jump to the conclusion that this is a spam account, because the proof is not evident enough.

I usually note down the name of the thread OP when I see others bump the thread. It can be potential evidence that the OP is using alts. I then keep a close eye on the OP for messages that are the same as the Bots or alts and report them for plagiarism if it turns out the case.

I also take specific note of the  senior accounts that appear to bump or shill scams or spammed threads. Sometimes they are the senior accounts of bot operators and a lot of intel can be gained from their previous posting history.  I then keep a close eye on the senior account for messages that are the same as the Bots or alts and report them for plagiarism if it turns out the case.

Banning senior accounts and copper members that start the ANN hurts the spammers more than reporting their newbie bot accounts.

I'm not advocating NOT reporting the newbie accounts and if your are reporting masses of newbie accounts - you have my respect - I'm just saying: "keep an eye out for opportunity to hurt them hard by banning senior accounts and copper members that start the ANN"

The spammers spam so frequently that they occasionally slip up and spam using the wrong account.

I get your point and definitely agree, but the main problem here is that you cannot know with 100% certainty whether the newbie account is actually an alt or not. For example, one of the bump messages was posted on one of my topics, and I'm pretty sure that I did not initiate that message.

Sudden increase of spam activity on this forum
by
Adriandmen
on 08/09/2018, 10:55:46 UTC
I've noticed recently that the number of newbie accounts posting messages with almost no added value whatsoever. Examples of these newbie accounts are (links redirect to the list of messages posted by the account):

    - trafficburg
    - liquider
    - dotmango
    - clickcrawl
    - dotlytics
    - dotvolt

Most of these messages are either service related questions (with very poor grammar). Examples of these kind of messages (taken from the list above):

    - What you charge?
    - Price
    - Package charges
    - What your packages
    - Price very high
    - Extremely expensive
    - What is your budget?
    - Facebook followers cost
    - Very good service
    - Cost
    - Portfolio

Other messages that make even less sense are 'bump'-messages on topics that they do not own. Examples linking to their corresponding post:

    - Bump
    - Up
    - Up
    - Bump
    - Bump
    - Up
    - Bump
    - Bump

None of these bumps are on topics that they own and make therefore no sense at all. I am not sure if this has already been discovered by anyone else and I am also not sure how much of a problem this is going to be, but this activity seems very suspicious (and perhaps simulated by some kind of bot?). Anyone have an idea what the reasoning behind this would be?

What your packages

I'm not sure what you mean by that. One banner costs 0.01BTC.

PRIZE

A banner costs 0.02BTC

A serious typo for a selling service.  PRIZE vs PRICE.

Yep you are right. I have corrected this, thanks!

Do you offer design services only? Or development as well?

I do development as well. In fact, I do a lot more development than design.

Hi,

I launched this project recently - about 3 weeks ago, and we have a few jobs there: www.cryptojobnow.com

I will do an elastic search today, but for now, unfortunately, you have to use CTRL+F to search through openings.

However, there is a few roles there that could be of interest to you - some of them remote as well! Smiley

Hope it helps.

Thanks

Thanks, I'll check that out.

Hi bL4nkcode, thanks for doing this!

Is it possible to have my '*'-status to be changed to a '*'-status. I currently am active in the business for almost two years (reference).

Thanks in advance,

Adriandmen
