Hey guys, check out Rapidballs for a DVC gambling site, Smiley. Please add it to the official list as well. They offer multiple different game types and the site works well. There's also a faucet as part of the site.

NEW! RapidBalls DVC Lotto

Done, on official links at first page

In the interest of something else to do with DVC and because I love the idea of combining books with writing ala DVC (thanks FinShaggy for the idea) I present a simple web-shop with Textbooks and Non-Fiction books for sale in DVC via CoinPayments.net:

https://andarazoroflove.org/shop/

Only a dozen or so up now, will be a few dozen more listed in the next couple days as I get busy doing. I work for a land-grant university so these kinds of knowledge books accumulate quite a bit. I'm also toying with the idea of PC components for DVC, but we'll see what happens.

I've added this to the front page under the "popular links" section.  (Buy Books With Devcoin)
Also, I've marked the newer links with the "New!" designation.

I also will delete any flame wars or spam as I have been frustrated reading all the meaningless posts!

Will be deleting any spam or flaming.

EDIT:
dvc-amzn.us is being phased out.  You probably will be still able to access it for the next 12-14 hours or so.
I've registered dvc4giftcards.us which is the new site.

Check it out now!

I like the website as it's good for those who want to cash out. But at $1 cards for $1.95, and $2 cards for $2.95, the charges seem a bit excessive. Why not offer a $10 card for $10.95? That would be a more attractive option for cashing out, and you still get $0.95

Just asking

I changed it to $10 gift card for $11.95.
I got more $1 gift cards, I'll lower the price to $1 cards for $1.15

Edit: the $10 gift card image is $2, don't worry, I am changing it and you still will get a $10 GC

Going to be adding your site to the list within the next 24 hours.

Re: Amazon Gift Card Store
by
Aegis

Any other site suggestions then?  Such as dvc4amazon?  Would that work?

Thanks for the info

The word amazon is trademarked. In fact, here's a huge list of terms that amazon has trademarked and which you cannot use in a domain name:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/help/customer/display.html?ie=UTF8&nodeId=200952730

Use a generic domain like dvc4giftcards

'Tis correct. I won't be able to add your website to the links list, if it could get taken down for copyright claims. (Such things could easily be called a scam.)

Yay! DVC now set up on my personal site.

www.7thcav.us now accepts PayPal or DVC. Test it if you like, there are a few free ebooks on there or you could just go through the motions to get to the coinpayments.net payment page. Very cool.

(I removed BTC as an option)

10 confirmations needed to complete transaction. Sheesh.

Not sure If I'll be adding your site to the popular links list, since I'm a little unclear about what your product is, are you selling Ebooks, or online Historical documents?

Stories and Questions - Moderated
by
Aegis
on 09/07/2013, 06:23:19 UTC
This thread is for readers to post story requests or questions, along with how much you're willing to pay. Readers should post a first and second prize, so that a writer knows that they'll almost certainly get something, besides the devtome earnings. The pledge can be in any cryptocurrency that is traded on vircurex.

Writers who want to make extra money should look over this thread and see if there's something that they want to write about or answer.

A good format for a story request is the following:

Story: ?
Minimum Length: X,000 words
First Prize: ?
Second Prize: ?

Scenario: ?

Can I get http://devcointalk.org/ added to the OP on this thread as a forum for devcoin ?? had a nice flourish of new users, and still more trickling in, the site's got a number of nice little features setup like a news ticker....
1DVC = http://dvcticker.appspot.com/vircurex/1DVC/BTC.png 1BTC = http://dvcticker.appspot.com/vircurex/1BTC/DVC.png 1BTC = http://dvcticker.appspot.com/vircurex/1BTC/USD.png

also members can request to be in the Devtome writers and admin group on the forum... just a nice place to hang out for gentle devcoin devtome related chat Smiley

and I trying to do something clever with posts from this main thread to be cross posted on there.... any stuff to make it a one stop shop to daily check up on various devcoin related stuff... etc so any suggestions please say.... something like showing latests posts on devtome.. and other network and devtome stats

but anyway the site was announced a little while back but never promoted or advertised so this is me pushing it.

Many thanks

FuzzyBear

I just added it as 'The Unofficial Devcoin Forums' (Not sure if it's official, or not.). Would you like 'Devcoin Talk' instead?

-acs26

Thank you for adding, and yes please list it as "Devcoin Talk Forum" if that is ok?

FuzzyBear

Yes, I have added it as 'Devcoin Talk Forums'. Hopefully that is okay.

Devcoin Logo Vote - Moderated
by
Aegis
on 02/07/2013, 06:29:04 UTC
This is the devcoin logo vote thread. People who received generation devcoins get a double weight vote, people who have an activity of at least 50 but have not received devcoins get a single weight vote. Please vote in this thread on a scale of 0 to 99, for your favorite logos from the gallery. You can vote for as many logos as you want, whatever you do not vote for will be considered a zero. Voters will automatically be recused from voting on their own logo.

Please use a format like:

Alice: 74
Bob: 98
Carol: 62
..

The votes will be tabulated on Satuday, July 6. The winner will get 8 shares, second place will get 4 shares, third place 2 shares, and 1 for fourth. Voters who received generation devcoins will get 2/5 of a generation share, the first ten other voters who put a devcoin address in their signature or vote post will get half that from a coin send (which can be to a web wallet).

Edit: The franchise has been opened to posters with an activity of at least 50, also voters are now paid.

Hey acs26, just noticed this part of the first post should be changed:

Quote
To get on a donation list, an open source developer can message me or post in an active devcoin thread. They could also post in the original induction thread:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=18498

Since I'm now in charge of the share list, this should be changed to something like this:

Quote
To get on a donation list to receive shares of devcoin, an open source developer should message the share administrator or post in this thread. For more information on developer shares, see the devtome page.

Code:
To get on a donation list to receive shares of devcoin, an open source developer should message [url=https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=91796]the share administrator[/url] or post in this thread. For more information on developer shares, see the [url=http://www.devtome.com/doku.php?id=devcoin#developer]devtome page[/url].

Changed it. Sorry for doing it so late.

How do I join in the administrative work in DVC?  Is there a web link or is it by invitation?

Normally by invitation. (Pretty sure, but I could be wrong.)

So here we have the last offical thread?

Edit:

Do we have any redirection method when new people happen to msg or ask the account "Aegis" some devcoin questions?

also, could we just lock all the 3 other devcoin threads, and simply change the tilte of this thread to "DevCoin" ? it looks puzzled with the word "Aegis" at the tile.

1.) This is indeed the official thread.

3.) Unthinkingbit is going to lock his, if he already hasn't. The other DevCoin threads should be locked.

4.) I'm not sure about putting Aegis out of the title, but I will try to allow it to make sense. (Probably by saying, 'Aegis - Official DevCoin Thread')

DeVCoin is an ethically inspired project based on the Bitcoin cryptocurrency and was created to help fund open source projects created by writers, artists, and software developers.

Participants in the DeVCoin economy earn DeVCoins in proportion to their project development. Writers earn devcoins by writing, developers earn bitcoins by developing, Marketers earn devcoins by marketing, and Administrators earn devcoins by applying their time and effort to help organize the DevCoin project.

Hopefully DeVCoin will eventually fund all types of developers including hardware developers, graphic artists, musicians, and filmmakers.

Download instructions are at:
http://www.devtome.com/doku.php?id=devcoin#download

The number of devcoins offered is large because the generation is fifty thousand per block, one thousand times the initial bitcoin generation rate. Devcoins can be traded at:
https://vps.vircurex.com/welcome/index?base=dvc&alt=btc

Besides bounties, the remainder of the 90% of generation is going to the open source developers on the bitcoin donation list:
https://github.com/Unthinkingbit/charity/blob/master/bitcoinshare.html

and to the open source developers who are developing other stuff on the devcoin share list:
https://github.com/Unthinkingbit/charity/blob/master/devcoinshare.html

To get on a donation list to receive shares of devcoin, an open source developer should message the share administrator or post in this thread. For more information on developer shares, see the devtome page.

The developers on the bitcoin donation list can see their devcoins by running a devcoin client and importing their bitcoin donation key into devcoin. One way of importing that key is by following the README.txt instructions for the modified version of bitcoin tools which incorporates Matt Giuca's privkeyimport:
https://github.com/Unthinkingbit/bitcointools

They could also use Jackjack's pywallet:
https://github.com/jackjack-jj/pywallet

the instructions for which are in the Pywallet section at the bottom of the post:

I am planning on getting in on the devtome action myself. I looked at some of the articles about psychology, science, and medicine... they're not really looking too hot. I would like to apply my expertise (neuroscience PhD student) towards fixing these up... and earning some money to pay some rent. Cheers.

It's best to write your own articles on devtome rather than fixing other articles up. Only the original writer of the article gets paid, that writer could choose to pay you for your contributions:
http://www.devtome.com/doku.php?id=earn_devcoins_by_writing#contribution_etiquette

but it's not required. After you write your own articles, you can also earn devcoins by marketing:

Setting up merge mining on your own is complicated. Joining a merge mining pool is easy. You can see which pools have merge mining here:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=104664.0

At the time of this writing, the merge mining pools include:
Bitclockers
BitGuildPPLNS
Bitminter
Bitparking
Ecki.net
Maxbtc
