Re: What's the best cold wallet for holding altcoins?

Electrum is not a cold wallet unless you use it on an airgapped device.

The wallet that I have used for altcoins which is open source is Unstoppable. You can use it on an airgapped device and have its watch-only wallet on an online device for transactions. The problem is that it is not supporting some altcoins.

Or you can buy a hardware wallet like Trezor.

I would highly appreciate if you're going to drop the link here for the "unstoppable" wallet and where can I buy a legit trezor wallet. I'm planning to diversify my portfolio since it's still a good time to bag some alts.

My first thought was I'm gonna hodl it on a certain exchange but it's still better if I hodl my own keys for better assurance, can't risk it nowadays, especially the SEC here in our country is very shitty.

I believe it's not.

But there's an alternative for that, if there's a local exchange in your country, that's your only way to convert the withdrawal amount from your gambling account to your native currency.

I would recommend playing at your own local online casino if there is one, so you can deposit and withdraw NGN currency with no problem, but it seems like you're trying to be anonymous so no one in your family would know about your gambling thingy.

Sounds good unless there's something else, like they are just using the "charity" as front to do gambling.

I mean, there's a lot of ways on how to get entertainment while you're raising funds to help other people or community that won't have negative effects on yourself in the long run. Nonetheless, if these kind of events are participated by profitable gamblers or professional gamblers, then why not.

Re: Gambling as an escape

Obviously over time I think it just became more of a tradition rather than an actual act of escape from mourning.

It's not a tradition, they are just taking the advantage of the funeral scenario, because they can't be arrested by their illegal gambling activity as respect to the grieving family.

Maybe it is an escape for some people, but for the majority of gamblers, I believe it was just for pastime until it became an addiction. Others do play gambling to become the black sheep of the family, to gain attention from their families. We have our own reasons why we play gambling, but I would call it as an "escape".

What happened this week is very unexpected.

I thought market was going to dump a little bit during the election but it was the other way around, and all the coins I was watching out for entries suddenly pumps like there's no tomorrow. I have no regrets though, it was a great experience for me, at least I know what to do next time.

Right now Bitcoin is currently at $80,000 and I'm looking forward for it to reach $90K this week or this month. I'm also hoping that Bitcoin dominance would dump below 50% so that Altcoin season can start already.

Re: From $50 into $40 million?
by
AicecreaME
on 04/11/2024, 13:28:01 UTC
I’ve been reading stories about successful gamblers and thought I’d share this one- it’s truly impressive.

From $50 to $40 million - crazy, right? It shows that making a fortune through gambling is possible if you have the skills. It’s a mistake to think we’re all destined to lose in the long run.

What do you think about this? Isn’t it inspiring already?

Archie Karas: Turning $50 into $40 million

Quote
There have been many tales of gamblers going on amazing runs at the casinos of Las Vegas. However, there may be none more staggering than that of famed punter Archie Karas.

Karas started ‘The Run’ with a mere $50 in his pocket and racked up more than $40 million in winnings. But that’s not where the story ends.

Remarkably, Karas then managed to lose it all and end up with nothing, before being banned from setting foot in a casino.

This is not inspiring at all.

This is where greed start, where people would start to wonder if they could do the same if they are going to risk something. It may start at any amount, and every time they will lose, they will increase the amount they are willing to risk in gambling just to chase that dream, to make huge money in gambling using small capital.

And at the end, all they got was addiction.

I just started trading in futures again way back March 28, 2024 and I'll be honest, it is a roller coaster ride, and mixed emotions of course. I've tried a lot of strategies but I'm sticking with mastering FVG (fair value gap) alongside with other confirmations like candle stick patterns, price action, etc.

I don't know what's gonna happen but I have no plan on quitting. Each mistakes that I've made in the past few months taught me something that I could use in my trading journey in the long run.

So yeah, this thread is going to be my trading journal. Any questions regarding about trading in futures would be entertain as long as I know how to help anyone of you that is still struggling in their trading journey. I could also give insights or technical analysis, just ask.

Disclaimer: I'm not a pro so make sure always DYOR and TYOR. Any out of topic questions or opinions would be deleted.

If that's the case, the win rate that the FVG strategy you're talking about gives you is about a few percent, op? Does that mean that you only win more in the trading activity you do,
or are you saying that you always win and get profit at the moment?

Because if you only started this year on March 28, from this month on, are you saying that you have already made a big profit with this strategy OP?
Because most people know that trading in the field of crypto space is not easy to understand, most people here knew this.

This is the reason why most of the newbie traders losses a lot of money in trading, because of this kind of perception.

A certain strategy won't make you profitable in a very short period of time, it takes years to polish, and if you don't have the patient and discipline, I can say your funds will always gonna wiped out. And about the winning percentage, I can say that don't focus on it too much, what's important is your PnL.

And yes, I've made around $1000 way back August in just a week if I'm not mistaken, and lost that $1000 in the whole September because of overtrade.

What kind of trader are you? Bitcoin trader or you also go for some altcoins?

I trade Bitcoin and altcoins.

As of now, since the Bitcoin dominance is pretty high, the trick that I'm using is that I always do some technical analysis on Bitcoin first to figure put the bias whenever I trade, because if Bitcoin pumps, altcoin pumps as well and vice versa.

Re: Teenage exposure to gambling
by

on 28/10/2024, 13:33:01 UTC
The possible solution to problem we discuss here is to make kids busy. But not in a way that they work or do something 24/7 and are tired to gamble. They should be busy with other things that they are interested in. Perfect will be sports, but any other activity would do. It is actually easy to make a kid or teenager busy. Parent must be involved into what kids is interested in. Like I've said, speaking and spending time together are the solution. If parents spend all the on the own, because they are busy, tired, dont have time for kids, then to wonder kids get exposed by everything. I know that it is tough to find time for everything, work, rest, kids, family. But that is only solution I see in this case.

In short, a good parenting would prevent a kid from trying gambling out of curiosity or because of peer pressure.

Kids nowadays have the access in every social media because gen z parent's thinks that a gadget would be a great way to make a kid occupied and not get bored, but they're just killing their kids slowly by exposing them to radiation and other adult contents that's not for kids that can be seen online.

Most of the social media influencers here in my country are promoting gambling. So I'm not surprised that even a kid here knows how to play gambling.

I doubt.

If someone won in a casino, he's just lucky or it was staged to gain more players. I mean, let's be honest, casino's and any other online gambling platforms are manipulated, there's no way they're gonna let their players win most of the time, the houses win most of the time to meet their daily bankroll needed to make their business stay alive and make huge profits.

Re: The Subtle Financial Traps in Everyday Life.
by
AicecreaME
on 25/10/2024, 13:29:20 UTC
In our daily lives, we inevitably encounter various financial products. While considering the risks and returns, it’s also important to be vigilant about the traps hidden within these products. We welcome both professionals and non-professionals to discuss the subtle financial pitfalls we may encounter in life. Let’s help each other avoid these pitfalls on our journey to financial freedom.

I’ll start with one: Never believe that financial management can make you rich.

Financial management can't make you rich but it will help you to prevent being broke.

Financial literacy is very important especially if you're not making that much, since you have to make a budget for everything or else you'll come short, worst case, you won't be able to pay your bills. It is important also to know your needs and wants, because if you don't, you'll end up spending your money on things that you don't need.

Re: Any Good Reason why you would quit gambling forever?
by
AicecreaME
on 24/10/2024, 13:15:26 UTC
<...>
So, here putting out the same question, what will make you quit gambling forever? A win or a loss, or both?

Neither of the choices you mentioned.

Choosing one means you're going to be addicted, why? Well it's very simple. If you win, you're going to be greedy, full of yourself thinking you could win again, much bigger, but in the reality, you'll experience the opposite, while if you loss, you're going to chase your losses. You're going to let your emotions dictate you on what you should do next, and the result would be chaos.

In short, the only reason that will make you quit gambling is by not trying it in the first place.

Re: Why paying tax on gambling winnings when government doesn't regulate Gambling?
by
AicecreaME
on 24/10/2024, 09:43:43 UTC
Recently many countries around the world are now introducing gambling taxation on it citizens and even charging betting houses and casino's some amount of money to operate within it jurisdiction, and recently my country just introduced a 5% Revenue sharing and taking from both betting houses and gambler's winning and this news make me to ask why the government takes such money from gambler's but won't protect the gambler when their is troubles with the betting house.

Because we have loads of cases where gambler's win some huge amount of money and the casino refusing to pay and when reported to the authority you here such things like the casino is not licenced by them or they don't have control over the casino case, the government is only interested in the tax and not protecting the interest of it citizens.

It's on you if you're going to bet or play in a casino that's is not regulated by your Government, your winnings would only go in vain.

If you're a gambler for a very long time, for sure you know the risk of playing in an unregulated casinos, compare to the regulated one. To solve your problem, why not just play on the regulated one to lessen the problem you're going to encounter in the future. And regarding about the taxation, I believe it's pretty normal especially most of the Government required tax especially to anything that generates a lot of money for them to get "benefits" on it not mentioning the Government are full of corrupt politicians.

Re: Gambling is short cut to poverty
by

on 19/10/2024, 01:00:21 UTC
Exactly.

Some people last resort is gambling, either it is because they envy someone who just got lucky one time in gambling or they are just risk takers. Nonetheless, they will end up even more broke, disappointed, frustrated, stressed, depressed, and other negative emotions because of gambling addiction. What's even worst is that, other than suffering from those emotions, they will also suffer on solving one thing, and that is how are they going to pay off their huge debt to loan sharks.

Re: Is personal responsibility the biggest factor in poverty?
by
AicecreaME
on 14/10/2024, 12:33:00 UTC
As I grow older, I’ve come to realize that personal effort often pales in comparison to the power of existing social systems. Poverty isn’t just about the lack of financial resources—what’s even more disheartening is that discussions about poverty are usually led by those who have never experienced it themselves.

You don't have to be poor in order to discuss poverty.

Any kind of topics or discussions can be discuss by gathering enough data or information regarding about it. Poverty is indeed very alarming, and the Government is not paying attention on solving that problem, that's the sad truth especially in third world countries.

Mostly, Government are just focused on how they are going to steal the money of the whole nation without being caught or notice by it's citizens. They don't care about poverty, in fact they are happy that there are so many people facing poverty because that it is their target every elections, vote buying at its finest.

That's why they like war, for profits. They don't simply care about other people as long as they are making their bank accounts almost blown up by destroying mother earth, killing innocent people, and any kind pf destruction. That's the sad reality going on since the start of humankind, the greediness.

It's all about the survival of the fittest, rich people becomes even more rich by milking the lowest people in the society. There's no hope in humankind, we're all doomed. I'm not gonna be surprise if there's going to be a world war 3 soon.
