Hi folks!

Questions to the dev;

How is the 4 point plan you presented progressing, got any news you will share public with the coin investors ?

Do you have other means of communication for your investors?

Do you expect the price to rise soon ?

Deja-vu. Just another coin in the sea of coins - it comes with no purpose and have problems already. Good luck with it.

The next halving would certainly be interesting, especially if you believe the downtrend during 2014 was caused by new supply without new adopters. It's about one year and six months away from now. So 2015 might wind up being a bit boring compared to 2016 (but BTC might still go up if slowly during 2015 I hope, but i'm not confident to say we're at the bottom either), but who knows.

Last halving did make BTC go from double digits to triple digits, so the psychological effect is there I think. Then again, some altcoins have proved that halvings are not necessarily directly affecting value, but other hand the bitcoin halving would be widely celebrated in the BTC community.

I use circle.com when I want to buy bitcoins with a credit card hassle free. Works fine within Sweden. Smiley Fee might be slightly higher than buying it elsewhere though, but it sure makes up with the convenience.

Smiley

Live doge live! You were such a good Doge..   Sad
It's still one of the most popular altcoins. And remember that people did call Bitcoin dead back in 2011 when it crashed back then so don't count out DOGE yet... Wink

CAT's actually ARE smarter than DOG's. Today. And the rest of January.
CAT is kinda a weak attempting at "cashing in" (harharh) at Dogecoin popularity lately. The only reason I see it even used is by people who wished they jumped on the dogecoin train early.

Plus the early miner advantage is much higher with Doge and is based on a (I hate to say it) fresher meme than lolcats. Catcoin popularity is probably not going to be longlived. Really most altcoins don't really have much purpose over BTC, and the fact Dogecoin got popular at all is that it didn't take itself lightly. If the competition does however, they're kinda losing the point why Dogecoin got popular in the first place.

This will be a unpopular opinion but if someone asks me to buy a specfic coin for serious longterm investment, I just point at BTC. The rest is for fun, but none of the altcoin offers anything really other than being more "fair" at mining (which actually makes said altcoin more vulnurable to 51% attacks). Altcoins can be a fun investment for those who find that BTC have turned boring volatility wise though. Wink

Indeed, right now multiplying the number of blocks with 500K gets you close enough. The average with all blocks so far is 498167,513332940 doge which is quite close to 500K.

Someone with some deep pockets put in a 52 BTC buy order @ .00000086 on Cryptsy.  Shocked
Gone now. But it seems like someone certainly didn't want doge to drop.

I was certain doge was going to drop today. Now I'm not as sure. Could be going any way. So much confuse.

Well cryptsy been really slow with the doge deposits. So if most people see their doge deposits go through, the price might drop again. Tongue It happened before (infact dropped down to 0.6 something last time).

Cryptsy ruined my deals so bad today that I decided to withdraw all my coins. They froze my coins for many hours until I got them back! Surprise! I can't withdraw them! I'm getting this security error all the time! WTF!  Angry Is this normal cryptsy behavior?
More likely that said issue was affecting a lot of people at the same time, which is probably why the price spiked up. Artificially decreased supply from technical issues. :|

Re: What are the most convincing arguments against Bitcoin?
by

on 24/12/2013, 14:25:44 UTC
Well said economic reason are with fees I guess. When the size limit is reached on a block, transactions with higher fees are prioritized over those with lower or no fee. Or so, at least that is from what I understand with how bitcoin works.

I don't think it's a problem that some blocks might reach the limit during peak usage times. I would think it's a problem if a transaction could be delayed for more than a hour due to this though. Currently though, a lot of BTC... especially those traded for speculation on exchanges are all traded offchain and does not affect the blockchain at all. So this might be more of a problem the more people actually use BTC as a currency. Then again payment processors might cover this as well, but... inputs.io is probably still in recent memory amongst many of us.

But the bitcoin whitepaper does cover how to trim the blockchain down to a more manageable level (tl;dr, involves pruning old data after verification), and personally for everyday usage I tend to use a client like multibit to go around the space problem in general (though as a enthusiast I have bitcoin-qt installed as well).

by

As much as you can afford to lose, which is by the logic I followed. Bitcoin is still very volatile. If you're putting fiat into bitcoin as a investment, try to see the longterm rather than possible short term gains. That said, I do have high hopes but do keep the risks in mind before you turn everything into BTC. Smiley

Honestly don't even think about how many BTC you get, but rather how much it costs to get you so much if you're investing fiat into it. Probably a bit more healthy way to approach it even if reaching certain barrier of BTC might seem more psychologically satisfying.

Re: The new Alt production line ongoing trend

I kinda realized how pointless most alt coins are when I realized that all I cared about was their BTC value. To be honest, it seems like the main reason alt coins get popular is due to how they tend to be (hopefully) profitable to mine, compared to BTC who is now deep into ASIC land in terms of mining, for actual security this is actually a good thing as it makes the BTC network very hard to 51% attack, but the average miner can't ever hope to get a profit. People might find it a controversial opinion but... IMO this makes bitcoin to have a safe and secure future compared to most altcoins.
