Re: Again Ban, but now from Twitter

Whenever somebody, an institution or a company tells you that they "ban" / "cancel" / "delete" / or whatever for your own good it is time to become suspicious. I consider this as a lobby driven action. Let's hope I am wrong but this could just be the start. First we talk about ICOs, then about price predictions (which can be as bad as advertising ICOs) then we talk about cryptocurrencies in general...

Re: Is Bitcoin too complicated for ordinary folks?
by

I dont think that bitcoin itself is too complicated for the ordinary person. There are a couple of things however that stand in the way of adoption:
- People don't undestand this new technology: for them a monetary system without banks is inimagible
- Most people hate insecurity: bitcoin prices are by far too much volatile.
- Most people hate changes: rebalancing the power of the current state and banking system leaves them with a bad feeling
- People listlen to mainstream media: often news are dominated by opinions and not by facts..

I could go on with this for hours but until there is no real proof-of-concept (visible to the public) that there are huge advatages regarding blockchain technology, crypto currencies, etc. people will remain sceptic.

Re: Why should people use Bitcoin?
by

The main benefit of a cryptocurrency (in my opinion) can be found in "decentralization", "part-anonymity" and "independence of the banks". Especially the latter is of utmost importance to people living in high-inflation countries or even worse if people dont have access to banks. As an example: the biggest money streams into 3rd world countries are neither development aid or direct investments...but it is the money that is sent home from people living/working abroad - in partially inhuman conditions. crypto currencies can solve several problems in that context: access to a "bank account", in theory very low transaction costs and protection against rogue governments. However without an integration into the fiat money system or lets say a status of acceptance this wont help eithe because at the end of the day 99,9% of goods are paid in local fiat currencies. So the question is not why people should use Bitcoin/Cryptocurrency, the question is rather: can they really use it?

We are not quite trough yet. Subject is still under investigation. The goverment seems quite open towards blockchain technology and cryptocurrencies. However a lack of transparency in whats is really going on (money laundring, tax evation, etc.) makes them think about regulating the market. Time will tell!

Hi there. One thing is for sure. At the moment bitcoin is a relative cheap buy in comparison to its all time high. Nevertheless nobody can tell you whether the price will surge, remain stable or decline in the upcoming weeks. That’s why you shouldn’t care too much about the price prediction of “experts” but develop your own gut feeling. Talking about 20.000…coinmarketcap can give you a hint how much money has to flow into market in order to reach this price. This is definitely not a “fast-selling” item…I personally consider BTC as a buy. But as you can’t time the market, maybe it is wise to invest only a certain proportion of your funds and the rest a couple of weeks later once you “earned” a safety margin. An remember one thing: after the surge of the price of bitcoin, there might be an altcoin season Smiley

So, tell me. How much BTC do you guys have so far?

I have all of 2.  My hashing machine is a laptop, which means it doesn't really mine very quickly.

Write longer posts, with substance. Long enough to be interesting, but concise enough to say what you need to say.

Well thank you, I'll keep that in mind.

Does that mean I have your support in that I should keep writing?

What did they say was wrong with it? Looks like a nice site to me.

That I was a horrible writer, lol.  I know everyone has their opinion and it all should be taken with a grain of salt, but considering the sources (not gonna name any names from these forums) I was very discouraged.

The Daily Bitcoin

So, I received a large number of very nasty e-mails and comments about my website The Daily Bitcoin, which has led me to stop writing articles.

This thread is just a simple question. I noticed that I still get a fairly steady stream of visitors to my site, so I'd like to ask, does anyone read what I write, and if so, what can I do to make it better?  Or should I just shut down completely?

If you just got back from vacation, you missed Paypal accounts getting taken down, a DDoS, a boycott, and all sorts of fun times in Bitcoinland!   Cheesy

That is some exciting stuff!  I'll have plenty to write about now that I'm back.

I just back from vacation, and lo and behold, $3 a coin!

I'd love to get caught up or at least hear the latest theories as to why the value has increased.

Re: Bitcoin and Taxation

That's probably the worst reasoning I've ever heard. Income is income, and depending on the laws of your local jurisdiction, you're supposed to pay taxes on that income. If you have bitcoins, and you keep them as bitcoins, it would be just like having a pile of Euro's or pounds laying around. If you convert those back to dollars at a higher exchange rate than what you paid for them, that counts as some form of capital gains.

The argument that 'it's hard to trace, so you don't have to pay taxes on it' is the exact same argument you can make for if you get paid in cash for something. You're still *supposed* to pay taxes, and just because it's in BTC doesn't some how make it 'special.'
Everything is taxed, including your income that you claim.

Take his article with a grain of salt.

Consult with a lawyer.

Take all articles with a grain of salt for that matter.  This is just information compiled from the information on the Bitcoin wiki, and the IRS website.
