Which coin has more potential, what do you think?

I have a little of both of them and ripple seems to have done better lately. I think both of them could be profitable in the future.

Is everything overpriced? Are we going to crash soon? When? Discussion.

The stock market is in a bubble and it's about to pop. Today there was a 370 point drop, just the beginning.

Re: Do you think bitcoin price will crash again in 2017?

Following the trends over the years, I have noticed bitcoin steadily rising (though with minimal fluctuations here and there). Recently, the price dropped sharply but since then, it is like it got angry, thereby increasing hugely each day.
Now to my question. I am actually thinking of purchasing some btc but still hoping there is possibility of the price dropping again so at least I can obtain more ( Grin pardon my greed). So, do you think there is still a possibility of it dropping in a huge manner in 2017?
Hopefully I am looling forward to getting something tangible from finance experts.
As we know there always be a crash every time, It's all depends how you see if you see the average price in a month for this year and until now the price of bitcoin tends to increase.

I'm not sure about a crash, but it seems like a dip in price could happen. The price can't keep going up without some people wanting to sell for profit.

Re: Bitcoin and deflation

I was thinking about how great bitcoin is vs combatting inflation but what about deflation?

Say bitcoin gets lost or if there was a malicious intent of destroying / hoarding bitcoin, are there any mechanics within bitcoin that address this?

Am curious but this is one of the largest problems i could think of if btc were ever widely adapted

I think the intention was to make it deflationary. This way it keeps gaining value over time while fiat loses value.

There's also a lot of coins on yobit that you can't sell because they are worth less than 1 satoshi. Those coins they give away are basically worthless.

Kim Jong-Un unveiled a massive skyscraper complex during a ceremony in Pyongyang on Thursday.
Thousands of cheering North Koreans watched as their leader opened the Ryomyong Street development, which includes more than 5,000 flats.

Where are they getting the funds to build skyscrapers? I thought there were sanctions against them and they were a poor country. And who is going to live in these flats if they are all poor?

Re: Why we still gambling while we always lose?

Gambling is an addiction to some people. For others it's just a way to have entertainment with a chance to win something. The problem is that when you are losing, sometimes you think that you have a shot of getting it all back when the odds are against you.

Re: How did you first hear about Bitcoin and when did you first buy Bitcoins?

I first got interested in bitcoin when I heard a story a few years ago about a man that bought 5000 bitcoins for only something like $25 and a few years later it was worth about a million dollars.  Of course now 5000 bitcoins would be worth about $3.5 million.

I think that was the guy from Norway. Wasnt that back in 2013 before the price went up to over 1000?

I just found the article in “The Guardian”. Yes it was the man from Norway (Kristoffer Koch). He actually paid $27 for 5000 bitcoin, so if I’m doing my math correctly, that's about half a cent per bitcoin. He must have gotten them in the early days. It says he had forgotten about them.

Did the article say if he sold it?

At the time of the article, those bitcoins were worth $886,000 US dollars. It says that he cashed in some of the bitcoins to buy an apartment.

Its a good thing he didnt lose the wallet address.

He bought the bitcoins in 2009 and forgot about them and had some trouble remembering the password for the private key. It’s a good thing he eventually remembered it because he’s wealthy now.  It took 4 years for the value to go from $27 to $886,000.

How much did he use to buy the house?

It says he cashed in one fifth of the 5000 bitcoin, so he kept the rest. But that was back in 2013, so over the last 3 years he may have sold more. It would be hard not to sell more of that to lock in a couple of million.

So did you start buying after you read that story?

Not long after I read about that, I did buy some. Unfortunately, I was buying as the price was rising from the pump at the end of that year.

Yeah thats when it went up real high and then crashed.

Yes, I think there was a bot on mtgox that was pumping the price around that time. I never heard if it was an intentional pump or if it was an error in the bot or the bot was set up wrong. Either way, there was a bubble.

Did you buy at the peak or what?

The price is important to me because I bought some bitcoin a couple of years ago and I an holding on to it. I don't want to sell it until it goes way up in value.

For professional poker players, gambling might be considered a business. For most of us, it is just a game.

I don't do enough gambling to make an affect either way.  That's the key to avoid getting addicted to it.

I think we could see a big correction this year before it goes back up again.  I still think overall we will see it rise over the next few years.
