I want to gather suggestions on the preferred cli email program to be used by smartcoin. I'll go with the most requested.
I finished a new routine which monitors for GPU lockups (the kind common when pushing overclocking a bit too far) All of my tests so far indicate that a full reboot is needed to recover from locked card conditions. Currently, the routine will monitor for this kind of hard lock condition, and if found it will Log and error, shut down smartcoin and fire off an email. I'm going to do some tests to see if its possible to revive a locked card, but until then this is about as elegant as I can come up with.
Any further suggestions on this?
Why would you kill smartcoin and kill the other working devices? Let's say I go to bed and sleep 7 hours. After 1 hour one GPU locks. Then you kill smartcoin and 6 hours idle time for 3 other GPUs. That doesn't make sense to me. The current state is even better, because when getting up I can easily detect the the lockup by looking at the stats and I wouldn't waste 6 hours x3 GPUs hashing time.
Email, wonderful. Shutdown smartcoin, very bad idea imo.

Did already these steps before initially posting here even.
When starting smartcoin, I get an error:
Code:
Error: no such column: failovercount
I can't even select a manual profile, smartcoin won't apply the use of another profile.

Hi, I have a little problem on two of my rigs. Auto Donate runs for 4 hours str8 and I can't get it to stop (did a reboot already). Any file I can delete to resolve this issue? r425 stable
Run an update, r442 is the latest stable release and may fix that.
doesn't

headless, not headless, same issue. Tried both ways: instant killing desktop an go on with the guide over SSH from the beginning and on the other hand following the guide on Desktop environment.

I reinstalled ubuntu with all 5 cards plugged into it and then using this guide:
After installing the ATI 11.6 Dirver and rebooting I received a message onscreen that my system doesn't have sufficient hardware and that Unity will be disabled and ubuntu classic will be used.
Now, the system is almost non responsive, mouse flickering, can't start any programs, like a super slowmotion.

I only use 16x risers. And I modded them because of the power consumption from the mainboard main plug. Anyway, I think I'll reinstall ubuntu with all five cards onboard.

Perhaps your new 5th GPU is bad? Have you seen if it runs isolated on its own? I don't think its smartcoin related, as I've personally seen an 8 GPU system running smartcoin with no problem. Do you have enough system memory? Did you double check the devices stored in the database?
I have 6 cards, and changed the riser cables back and forth and the order of the cards back and forth. All cards ran before perfectly in two separated systems.

The problem is the whole system! I don't even reach the point when mining is possible. Again, as I said, like using a 386 CPU or a newer CPU with cache off.

Smartcoin believes the GPU is mining even though it submitted shares a long time ago & temperature is in 60C(idle or less) range than other cards. The total hash rate displaying is 2580+, which i get usually.
Hey dishwara,
what distro are you using? And which mainboard? I recently sticked the 5th card into my system (ubuntu 11.04 headless on MSI 890FXA-GD70) and since then it's like using a 386 DX2
A really laggy, sometimes not even responding system.

Hi,
I offer my rapidshare account for the links. I would mark the files as trafficshare, meaning no popups, no wait time, nothing. Just like a normal download from, lets say any software website, click and go. You wouldn't even have to go to the rapidshare page.
And since we're talking about 4KB, I couldn't care less
also if I remove worker (by editing use in default profile - n) computing power will not spread between rest of workers, I have to kill smartcoin and start it again.
I experienced that, too. A restart routine is missing at this point in the code.

Thanks man, I really appreciate your constant patience with the <---- n00b
I'll throw at least 4GHash at you for 30 minutes every day. The problem is that dd (live cd and running system) freezes with kernel error at some point and I can't clone the usb flash drives.
fdisk -l shows some like: "physical and logical beginnings differ (not linux?)"
Which could be the problem with flashdrive, because of the controller reassinging the cells all the time. Do you also use a usb flash drive? I didn't have the problem when I cloned my HDD from rig 1 ---> 2.

It's me again trying to fight with my system. Did a full uninstall & reinstall, deleted all smartcoin* Files in /tmp (there were not files anyway) and no I'm getting thy "No screen sessions found" syndrome again.

Did anybody experience more rejected packages? I used to be a 99.xx% guy, but now I'm down to 96.5 - 97%. I'm talking about 6 workers on 2 different systems. Coincidence?

Again, I got the DOWN phenomenon. Did a reboot already, nothing helped, newest revision. What I changed is the phatk kernel accoring to this post: http://forum.bitcoin.org/index.php?topic=23067.0
Do you check the integrity of ther kernel or is it a coincidence?
Im guessing you either didnt copy/paste the code correctly into kernel.cl or you didnt restart the client after making the changes.
If it doesnt start workers after making those changes, something is wrong with the kernel.cl file.
Edited the kernel.cl on two other machines. Just copied it over WinSCP.
