Re: If bitcoin prices remain the same until next year, will it be good for the crypt
by

Once the price of Bitcoin remains at around $6000, some investors will suppose that Bitcoin can not make profits more so they will leave out of Bitcoin. That is the bad situation which noone wants to happen with Bitcoin. Bitcoin is to invest; therefore; the price of BItcoin should be fluctuated.

Bitcoin is a currency, and it is better for businesses if bitcoin have a more stable price. Only speculators and those who wanted to get rich quick will be saddened if ever bitcoin reach a state where it is stable in terms of price.

That is why it is bad to jump into something you do not fully understand. He does not know bitcoin, yet he invested in  it. And then when things is going bad, he jump into another thing he does not know, trading. It is just money, if he can collect himself, he can earn it back. And hopefully, in the future, he can have a better decision in making his investments.

Re: Isn't the point of bitcoin to take contol of our own currency?
by

Regulation of the crypto market by the governments of various nations is the ongoing event these days. BUt more regulation means more control and interference by the government into the system. So this decentralized system tends to loose its operational autonomy when more n more people poke their noses in this business.

P.S.: The community would resent more control and definitely there would be a problem.

As you said, they can only control the market, not bitcoin itself. You will only surrender your control over your bitcoin if you give them your private keys. So let them regulate the market, remove the scammers but do not give them your control over your bitcoin.

Re: Where should we focus this year?

This is like the "Gluten-free Craze" in the cryptocurrency market everyone knows Blochchain but not everyone knows what it means or even what it does. I think the main idea here is that we should not be part of the people who are in here for the hype as we must understand first what Bitcoin or even Blockchain is and what is causing the hype for them both. Learning and knowing is the things you needed in this young market as we can really get lost if we don't know what we talking about or even what we cryptocurrencies we are investing.

Those who joined because of the hype are probably gone by now. Most of them bought at the top of the price, disillusioned when it dropped and probably hated bitcoin right now. Those who are still here are the ones who really believed in bitcoin, cryptocurrency and blockchain and  (bounty hunters).

Re: Stop comparing ETH with BTC!!!!!!!!

Why would you stop people from comparing cryptocurrencies? they have the right to do so and in my opinion it is healthy. Without competition, nothing will improve. Or are you afraid that your precious bitcoin will lose the battle? You are so eager to defend it and claim it is the best though you said we should stop comparing.

Re: China moves further towards cashless society

This is just poor customer service. If they want to switch to cashless, they still should have lanes for cash because not everyone is up to date with technology. The very young ones and the very old ones are not using cellphones yet. If they force it, it is like discrimanation to those who do not how to use the technology and those who can't afford it.

Satoshi will never come out from his hiding place and will never make any kind of announcement. If anyone claiming anything related with satoshi is a scam. If he'll ever make an announcement, isn't bitcointalk the best place to do it?

Re: Are Bounty Hunters also considered Investors?
by
Albert211994
on 22/09/2018, 06:30:07 UTC
I normally see some crypto projects which promise Investors certain amount of dividend depending on how much coin/token they own.

The word "Investors" is normally used for people who own shares of a particular project/company, but in cryptocurrency this "shares" normally refers to coins/tokens, which makes me wonder if bounty/airdrop hunters are also considered "Investors" since they hold certain quantity of these coins/token

Do you consider spending your time on something an investment? If so, then bounty hunters are investors. It does not matter how little their contribution to the campaign or project is, it is still time spent.

We could go to a cashless society and use cards only but I doubt there will be a time that we will be use purely crypto. I doubt that governments will allow it. Crypto can be an option but humanity will not stop using fiat.

There is nothing good coming out of having too many exchanges. Most of them do not even have good volume to be enticing to do trading. And if they have volume, it is run down with bots. It is better to have lesser exchanges but have quality volume and less bots.

Re: What if bitcoin seems to average about 7500 USD
by

I do not see any problem with the price of bitcoin settling at $7500. That is high enough to support the miners for all their expenses with enough profit until the next halving.

https://www.similarweb.com/website/bitcointalk.org

https://www.similarweb.com/website/coinmarketcap.com

bitcoin talk continues to lose influence over the cryptoindustry,

same is the case with coinmarketcap.

with bitcoinfounders losing the grip bitcoins value will also collapse

so dont expect a mooning of bitcoin towards 50k there wont be one.

As you mature in cryptocurrency, you rely less on the information from bitcointalk and coinmarketcap.

and there is no direct correlation in bitcointalk and bitcoin price. This is just plain non-sense.

Bitcoin Power Consumption
by
Albert211994
on 14/09/2018, 15:05:56 UTC
Power consumption of bitcoin mining keeps going up. And will continue to go up as bitcoin usage and price increases. This have harsh enviromental implications. Is there a way to reduce power consumption or are there plans to switch to a more eco-friendly way of mining bitcoin?

It means nothing to me. It is just the support pushing the price back where it was before the crash happens. It does mean there will be a bull run or anything. It is just the support doing its work.

Nope, not this year. As buterin says, the explosive growth of crypto has ended. I believe that he is right. If there will be growth in the price of eth, it will be painfully slow.

This just shows we are still in a bear market. the price fluctuates from time to time but in the end, the down trend continues.

I think this will be over soon, the price is attractive enough for new money to come in. I think this is the bottom already and the trend will soon reverse.

The more reason I should buy it. Once the problems that OP is pointing out is solved by the developers, it will be a better and much more valuable crypto. I believe ETH is good crypto and very much under value right now.

Re: Downsides to crypto
by
Albert211994
on 08/09/2018, 16:57:58 UTC
If and when cryptocurrency and/or bitcoin becomes the official currency of the world, do you think there will be a downside to it? If so, what do you think the negative effect will be once cryptocurrency becomes a worldwide currency?
All things have downsides, but it all matters to how heavier the benefits are. Bitcoin for example, if it were to become a worldwide currency, governments would have a hard time to tax people who operate business though crypto. The reason being their concept being opposite to each other--a centralized entitiy wanting to control a decentralized entity.
Well, I don't see that as the downside of bitcoin because it is still easy for the government to  collect tax because what will do is create a vat for every cryptocurrency exchange just like how hotel, flight agency does. However, the only downside I see in bitcoin if it go mainstream is transaction cause the amount if transaction which the bitcoin network can treated per second is too small. Therefore, transaction,no physical touch(cause people who don't have internet access can not join crypto community) and tx fee are the downside of all crypto

I do not think there will still be a need for exchanges if cryptocurrency is globally accepted already. We only use exchanges for now because we need to convert crypto to fiat in order to spend them. I think it will be an advantage for tax evaders to use crypto because it is harder for government to monitor and track crypto.

Re: Can Artificial intelligence and blockchain be used together?
by
Albert211994
on 08/09/2018, 15:34:04 UTC
I do not know if these two can be together. If an AI becomes sophisticated enough, can it not be a threat to blockchain? It may become intelligent enough to break the blockchain and hack it.
