I like the idea of giving the network/coin real value (computing power for hire) and using the immense power of the network for something productive. I heard some suggestions to limit mining power per IP adres to 5 MH/s to limit the waste of electricity and the remaining capacity could then be used for usefull purposes... I'm not quite sure how it would work but I think you've got an interesting starting point for discussion Smiley

48 coins, every 5 minutes, 2016 blocks for difficulty change, each week.. max round of 2 weeks before diff change

I believe the max round length is going to be 7 days now (please confirm) which is the same as 5*2016 minutes. I'm not sure whether it's a good thing or not but I think this'll mean that the time limit will occur 50% if mining capacity doesn't increase during a new block

hi,

i was wondering where the HUGE spike on bitcoinmonitor.com comes from? According to bitcoin watch there are slightly less than 7m bitcoins in total and i see 6m + 3m + 1.5m + change being moved inside of 1 block, is that even possible?
