Cheaper than burning a laptop and more paranoid way: 1. Buy $2 Arduino or $10 Raspberry Pi without any network connectivity 2. Connect monitor and keyboard and boot basic Linux from sd card 3. Open command line and type source code of your cryptocurrency public/secret key pair generation function from printed github page 4. Write down the result 5. Destroy your $10 microchip investment 6. 7. PROFIT!

Re: Merit & new rank requirements

Is there any statistics on merit-based rank changes? I'm pretty sure that less than 5% of full members got their rank because of merit. I see many users with 200+ activity and 0 to 5 merit. This system is nonsence, administrators could just stop assigning new ranks to anyone registered after certain date with virtually the same result.
According to recent recearch, 56% of 2017 ICOs fail. And you know what? That's OK. 90% of startups fail but the rest grow so high that they compensate venture investors 90% loss and provide very high profits.
So the basic rules with ICOs are very simple: 1. Do the research before you invest 2. Diversify, diversify, diversify 3. Ignore news and HODL

Re: WHY DO YOU THINK NOT ALL ICO's PUSH THROUGH?

Key thing for ICO success is real product where blockchain usage does make sense, not just another "Google/Facebook/etc on blockchain". For example, ETH made fundraising much more simple, fast and easy, that's the main value of the platform.

Recent scam icos show that team doesn't matter much unless there are some real stars in it. Scammers now create fake linkedin profiles for team members.

Can anyone tell what are the guarantees, if any, that Tether won't switch to fractional reserves?
Cocoa and chocolate industry https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2871985.new#new has joined the ICO bandwagon . ICO has really brought all products and services to the blockchain technology. Banking, Eneregy, Farming and anything one can imagine in our daily live is been brought into online. Now we have cocoa harvesting also on blockchain to advance the production of chocolates and cocoa products.
Can you show an example of energy or farming blockchain real effect, not just another ico hype promising worldwide adoption and gathering millions?
Hi all, I am a relative newbie but have remained pretty calm during the difficult last week or so. The markets are falling significantly again, is this still relatively normal and is the best advice just to HODL? Moving forward I think I will set stop losses on all holdings to protect my capital against falls like this. Thanks
That's all about strategy. Diversify, set a certain stop loss and stick to the rules you've set.

Delays are normal since project team have done some real things, not just fancy presentations and tweets. Look at SpaceX Falcon Heavy delays history.
Governments cant kill drugs which have physical form for centuries. So they won't be able to kill cryptos, but they sure can criminalize them. Stupid enough to be implemented by govts.

Explain what you mean. If the ICO is performed on Ethereum platform, your ETH wallet collects all the tokens you have invested in.

Crisis is a good time to invest in assets which have REAL value behind them, not just some guys buying and selling. For example, ETH has real value of all ICOs funding with it.

There's no such thing as a perfect time. If you are ready, just invest and forget about your money for a few months at least.

Bitcoin is experiencing serious problems with commissions and transaction speed, so i wouldn't recommend holding it.
Yes, your tips are right. There are some big investors ( Crypto Gambler) who are dumping crypto markets by spreading negativity about Bitcoin, eth and other coins as a part of their making profit to buy at a lower price. Holding is now the best policy.
It's not that simple. Look at Dow Jones and Nasdaq - they are rapidly falling down too.
