Re: Activity Update Times
by

Thanks very much. It looks like I wont have to deal with this harsh post time restriction for much longer.

I’d like to add that ranks aren’t updated at the exact time specified in the spreadsheet. For me, there has been a delay of something like two or three days. My guess is that it takes time to check all accounts and that the oldest accounts go first (I only joined late last year).

Thanks, I'm not too worried about rank, just the post limit is killing me.

Are you think OP just butthurt because he/she is in Jr. Member?.
How about he/she is in High-Rank, i am not sure he/she will say like this.
Conclusion, totally hypocrite. Shocked
Wait, are you implying that women actually visit and use this forum?!?

*anxiety intensifies*
Why not? Dont judge gender based on their username.
As long OP doesnt have information about Gender, i can assume this person is Male/Female.

Ask you back, are you implying this forum dominated by Men? Any statistics?

I would be willing to gamble a bitcoin that this forum has more male users than female.

My comment was a sly joke, don't take it seriously.

Besides, the last thing I want to do it argue from a 'white cis male's' standpoint about topics like this.

Activity Update Times
by
Alevira_mox
on 27/02/2018, 17:13:05 UTC
Hello, I know that activity is updated every 14 days but I want to know the exact dates when this happens.

I'm asking because I can't deal with the 6 minute post delay threshold that my account is under and this delay is lessened to just over a minute at 16 activity.

I'm a reasonably fast writer and the amount of drafts I have saved from failed posts is astronomical and I think I will remain inactive until my activity updates.

If anybody has a chart I would appreciate it.

I'm not sure where this post belongs because it is a newbie question but it could also benefit other users and relates to this forum as a whole so I've posted it here.

Thanks.

Re: merit is GARBAGE

WTF? is this a benefit of merit system?
Such garbage comments get merit, whereas many comments are very useful but do not get any merit.
please answer.

Merit is not a garbage but maybe the shitposters. Buddy you should not judge the good system just because someone is abusing it. If you are acting like that, you too becomes a  garbage by being ignorant of handling the truth you discovered from the abusers.

I can barely understand your English.

Also, 'all hail the good system for it shows us the truth!' - spoken like a true cult leader.

Here's a little advice, don't add informal words like 'buddy' when talking from an authoritarian stance. It just sounds funny  Grin

Re: It's time to let go the altcoin section and all the headache it brings
by
Alevira_mox

The merit idea is stupid. The red trust marking are even more stupid. Some of the old timers cannot accept the new realities of crypto in general. For them, Bitcoin is the one true coin, one coin to rule them all. There are a lot of different tribes that exists in Bitcointalk. And it's really surprising that there is still no major drama happening. However I could see that it will be a tipping point which will bring the whole forum into chaos.

All the conflict does is aggravate everyone.

May I suggest that Theymos cut off the entire Altcoin section, and just move them off to another domain like maybe "Altcointalk.org." Ranks and usernames will be maintained in the new site.

This way, Bitcointalk will be about Bitcoin again and no more shitposting/spamming for campaigns. They can all shitpost in the new forum.

It can only aggravate you if you let it. Just because there is a signature under somebodies post, it doesn't mean that the post is garbage. I think the merit system does a decent job of adding quality to campaigns so bad quality posts don't seem to be too much of a problem anymore.

Also like others have mentioned, there is the ignore option or simply don't visit the board.

Re: Posts like these deserve 50 merit

I hope DT members will take necessary action on them because they definitely abused the merit system by buying merits from someone or exchanged their merits from their alt accounts for the sake of rank up.
If people continue to do like this then more DT members will need to find out and tag them because merit system is an easy way to find the alt accounts too. Grin

I've seen loads of alt accounts get found and tagged with use from the merit system. Last week there was this guy (can't remember his name) but he was busted with 20 alt accounts because he was exchanging merits between his alts!

Re: bamboo towers affect the airplanes
by

All these threads by shitposters purporting to give advice to other shitposters on how to gain merit are reminiscent of the cargo cults that sprung up in World War II. They see other people's posts receiving merit as though it were a gift from the gods, and think if they make their posts look similar, they too will receive merit. But like the bamboo control towers and wooden radios and coconut headphones, it's all form and no substance. They do not receive any merit, no matter how much effort they put into their mimicry. They don't understand what they're missing, so they inevitably complain that the merit gods are mistreating them. But the gods merely shake their heads and struggle to understand why the cultists ever thought their plan would work in the first place.

And the merit cultists' prayers continue to go unanswered.

Perhaps a merit rain dance will work wonders.

Maybe the shit posters could offer one of their alt accounts as a virgin sacrifice into a volcano and gain favor from Satoshi himself?

So many possibilities guys. Don't let your dreams be memes. Strive for greatness and hustle for those merits!

In all honesty, I believe you can easily make 10 merits with a well thought and informative topic. However, you will have a hard time getting merits from only commenting on threads.

100 merits for full member seems difficult but I personally don't need to worry about that for a few more months. I'll complain about not having 100 merits next June.

Re: New Shill Accounts for Marinecoin
by
Alevira_mox
on 27/02/2018, 16:02:30 UTC
I hate those newbies posting for that shitty marinecoin claiming that they will earn 450,000 coins. They are very annoying I hope some admins do something to stop this shitty airdrop. 450,000 coins just for airdrop and per person? LOOLL. Imagine that 1,000,000 people joined in this fucking airdrop, so they will distribute a total of 450 TRILLION coins and that is just for airdrop only. What about the token sale? The coin for the devs. This marinecoin is pure BULLSHIT!!!!!

The thing is, a coin (or anything) is only as valuable is it's rarity compared to how many people want it. If everyone owned 1 million dollars, it wouldn't be worth anything.

All these newbies trying to get the marinecoin airdrop are just going to immediately sell and the price will be worth close to nothing a few days after its release.

I mean, if everyone has the damn coin and nobody want's it, it can't be worth that much.

I'll be honest when I say that I haven't stumbled across this airdrop but I assume it's a problem if newbies are accepted. Isn't that against the forum rules?

I've never had this problem and I use tor. Perhaps you are running on a high density node?

Like mentioned above, bitcointalk is apparently experiencing a ddos attack. This was one of the reasons why theymos implemented cloudflare not to long ago, but I believe that has been currently removed.

Re: I HATE YOUR SIG CAMPAIGN, ALL OF THEM
by
Alevira_mox
on 27/02/2018, 15:46:10 UTC
I wish we could get rid of them all. I hate the stupid huge banner when I'm reading. I hate the stupid posts and stupid threads written just to get sig views. I hate having to scroll down past them. I hate having them on the screen, blasts of useless eyecatching colors in between the posts I want to read. I hate having to try and decide if the poster is stupid, ignorant, in need of help, or just trying to earn a few satoshis.
 I hate hate HATE them.
Ban them all.
Forever.

Then go to a different forum. I've looked through many other bitcoin and crypto forums and even despite the signature campaigns here, bitcointalk is one of the cleanest websites in use.

There are no ads or banners that graffiti this site like many others.

Signature campaigns keep the activity high and that's a small price to pay for a little tag bellow a few posts.

If a small combination of pixels is getting you so angry, maybe you should be seeing a psychologist instead of this forum haha.

Writing in English can help you to be awarded merit as well.

That's one thing I've noticed. Many people who have poor grammar try to over-compensate by making their posts way too long compared to the info in them.

Nobody is going to give merit for a long post if it doesn't say anything guys.

Re: Can I create a new version of "Bitcoin"? Or are there copyright laws?
by
Alevira_mox
on 18/02/2018, 13:19:36 UTC
Can I create a new coin with the name "Bitcoin" in it? (Bitcoin Moon, Bitcoin Lambo, etc).  Or are there copyright laws that prohibit this?

Also, if I am allowed to use the name Bitcoin, am I required to make a fork from the original code?  Or can I use whatever code I want?

Yeah you can but nobody will be have any incentive you buy your coin if no architecture is changed.

why don't you creat a coin with your name?? And you will build it base on new platform. I think it will be better than thing as you said

Already been done, why do you think we call the lowest bitcoin denominator a Satoshi?

Re: Hacking is the Big Problem

Guys…

I read the new the Japanese Exchange Coincheck loses ¥58 billion in the hacking attack. It’s not a single case in this after a few weeks ago Etherdelta was also Hacked. So how can we ensure that our money is safe on exchanges?

Dont ever assume that your money is safe on an exchange. Would you give your fiat to a small, anonymous bank that has been around for less than 5 years? I dont think so.
Keep your money in your offline private wallet if you want to be safe.

You can choose 2 services i have:

1 / Warranty 1 month, 2months, 3 months etc ...

2 / Not warranty.

Why would somebody need a warranty for their account? Or maybe you mean membership time

-You can not change the password of the account

Why have this rule and what's stopping someone from doing it anyway?

Re: I sell my Telegram channel with 4000 members

Please share your thoughts regarding the price

Highest offer, begin 5000 $

You wont get anything near $5000 for 4000 members. Somebody could pay $1 to each member who joins their telegram and it would still be cheaper...
