Noob Q: Can bitcoin be turned into POS?
by

Hi guys.
Plz don't kill me for asking.

I see a lot of hype around alt-coins.
When asked, many will point out POS as a plus vs bitcoin.

I was wondering:

1. Can Bitcoin change to POS if wanted to by the community?
2. Is POS really an advantage (if it is - is it an advantage because it saves energy, or because it diffuses power)?

Thank you!

Using LastPass as Bitcoing Users - Bad Idea?

Came across this today:

https://www.theregister.co.uk/2017/03/21/lastpass_vulnerabilities/

How do U guys play it safe? A specific password manager (perhaps other than lastpass)?

Or any other methods?

This is important since now money is involved.

Thanks!

Help me find my BTC - Poloniex to ShapShift. Confused noob. Please.

Hi everyone.

Sorry for this.

I sent btc from Poloniex to ShapShift.

ShapeShift supplied me with an address for deposit (so I can get Ether after btc deposited):
1Fhfwmkbsr8G6kSuP68FyQnKZkEQ2X6Ugm

I initiated a Poloniex Withdraw, but that took too much time, and ShapeShift closed the transaction.

I contacted ShapeShift. Asked they did. They saied they issued a refund, and gave me Transaction ID:

I then contacted Poloniex, but they can't seem to find my btc.

Any advice?

I am so lost!

Thanks so much!!!

Thank you for your reply.

As far as taxes go, I am paying local taxes (they deduce it from my salary).

I was told that usually one cannot be taxed twice on the same income. So I assume I am in the clear. Is this correct?

Thanks again.

The legality of sending money abroad using bitcoin - am I doing something wrong?

Hi everyone.
I am new. I hope this is the right sub for this.

I work outside the US.

I tend to prefer to keep my balance in USD as opposed to the currency at my current place of residence. I have a US bank account of course.

What I do is cash out my salary and buy bitcoins with it.

Then, I send the bitcoins to the american exchange I am using (Coinbase, Circle, or other), and issue a sell-order.

This saves me tons on fees (last international wire I did ended up costing me $70. That's outrages).

My question is about the legality of this. My intuition tells me there's nothing wrong with this (just a modern way of sending money), but I want to make sure I am in the clear.

The reason I have decided to ask, is because Coinbase emailed me asking for more information regarding this action. They are asking for the source of the funds, my line of work, and so on.

I will appreciate your advice or input on this.

Thanks so much.

Alex
