the federal reserve is inflating the US Dollar going full on brrr mode. Which could potentially(not saying it's guaranteed) mess up the economy some time in the future.

So true. Any scheme for inflating the money supply, whether private or public, can only redistribute income and wealth, cripple or destroy the unit of calculation indispensable to a modern economy, weaken incentives to save, and generally cripple and eventually destroy the economic system. The eventual end is hyperinflation and economic disaster.

Re: The Education State
by
AlgoSwan
on 12/05/2020, 15:17:34 UTC
@Yourhomeboy So true.  A person acquires his education in all activities of his childhood; all his waking hours are spent in learning in one form or another. It is clearly absurd to limit the term “education” to a person’s formal schooling. He is learning all the time. He learns and forms ideas about other people, their desires, and actions to achieve them, the world and the natural laws that govern it; and his own ends, and how to achieve them. He formulates ideas on the nature of man, and what his own and others’ ends should be in light of this nature. This is a continual process, and it is obvious that formal schooling constitutes only an item in this process. In a fundamental sense, as a matter of fact, everyone is “selfeducated.”

Re: returning to normal
by
AlgoSwan
on 12/05/2020, 13:45:12 UTC
there's a new narrative emerging that life will never return to normal after the coronavirus pandemic:

Quote
I don't think people realize that there is no normal to go back to anymore.

At absolute minimum:

1) Supply & demand has been reallocated across the economy, with travel & events zero'd out, remote work & masks to infinity
2) Virus permanently changes public behavior
3) Supply chain disruption just starting

Even if the virus did vanish in a puff of smoke and everyone went "back to work", the behavior of billions of people and every country has been permanently changed.

Demand won't quickly come back, borders won't easily reopen, international relations won't be the same.

Quote
Which industries will die off first because of pandemic?

The obvious one for me is the movie theaters but what else?

https://twitter.com/needacoin/status/1246191483746574337

what do you think---are entire industries about to disappear because of the pandemic? will some aspects of the economy and general life irreversibly change after this?

or are these people just drama queens who are blowing everything out of proportion? maybe people will forget all about the coronavirus in a couple years time and nothing will change. that's what happened after the H1N1 scare.

The “depression” is actually the process by which the economy adjusts to the wastes and errors of the boom, and reestablishes efficient service of consumer desires. The adjustment process consists in rapid liquidation of the wasteful investments. The depression is the process by which the economy returns to the
efficient service of consumers. In short, and this is a highly important point to grasp, the depression is the “recovery” process, and the end of the depression heralds the return to normal, and to optimum efficiency. The depression, then, far from being an evil scourge, is the necessary and beneficial return of the economy to normal after the distortions imposed by the boom. The boom, then, requires a “bust.”

The sad thing about this "socialism" is no matter how many countries tried it and failed, people always tried to push this crap again and again. It's like a cycle: the poor want more from the rich -> coup/election -> socialism -> all become poorer -> coup/election -> capitalism -> new rich people emerge.
well said. Socialist central planning simply cannot operate an advanced industrial economy.

Re: Get ready for more tax. Save your BTC!
by
AlgoSwan
on 12/05/2020, 12:39:51 UTC
We have to stop looking at taxes as a mighty system for achieving social goals, which merely needs to be made “fair” and rational in order to usher in Utopia. We have to start looking at taxation as a vast system of robbery and oppression, by which some people are enabled to live coercively and parasitically at the expense of others. We must realize that from the point of view of justice or of economic prosperity, the less people are taxed, the better. That is why we should rejoice at every new loophole, new credit, new manifestation of the “underground” economy. Every economic activity that escapes taxes and controls is not only a blow for freedom and property rights; it is also one more instance of a free flow of productive energy getting out from under parasitic repression. Long live BTC!

Re: Inflation and Deflation of Price and Money Supply
by
AlgoSwan
on 12/05/2020, 12:24:20 UTC
The fault of inflation is not in business “monopoly,” or in union agitation, or in the hunches of speculators, or in the “greediness” of consumers; the fault is in the legalized counterfeiting operations of the government itself. For the government is the only institution in society with the power to counterfeit — to create new money. So long as it continues to use that power, we will continue to suffer from inflation, even unto a runaway inflation that will utterly destroy the currency.

Re: Which investment is a safe haven Gold or Bitcoin?
by
AlgoSwan
on 12/05/2020, 12:15:17 UTC
When there is state, there is no safe haven! (even land is not safe haven)

The essence of the state throughout history is a minority of the population, constituting a power elite or a “ruling class,” governing and living off the majority, or the “ruled.” Since a majority cannot live parasitically off a minority without the economy and the social system breaking down very quickly, and since the majority can never act permanently by itself but must always be led by an oligarchy, every state will subsist by plundering the majority in behalf of a ruling minority.

The State is the organization of robbery systematized and writ large. The State is the only legal institution in society that acquires its revenue by the use of coercion, by using enough violence and threat of violence on its victims to ensure their paying the desired tribute. The State benefits itself at the expense of its robbed victims. The State is, therefore, a centralized, regularized organization of theft . Its payments extracted by coercion are called “taxation”.

Both gold and BTC can't be taxed. They are better than land in this sense. But still miners of both instruments living in a country run by a government. No safe haven!

Web based factory building game pays in BTC
by
AlgoSwan
on 11/05/2020, 16:52:08 UTC
Check out this multiplayer simulation game is about trading commodities, opening new factories, and learning how industries relate to each other!
As a game, it's an excellent training tool. It teaches young entrepreneurs to make ''stuff'' from other ''stuff.'' Young investors learn how to buy low and sell high. Be warned, this game is not for everyone. It's designed that way. We have a very strict acceptance policy. You may feel you're joining a military organization or something. We value quality over quantity. We have no desire to reach a million inactive registered users. We have a robust community and our primary goal is to learn and get better. Just like in the real world, we learn by making mistakes. Usually, over and over. Many of the young entrepreneurs and investors in this game will become tomorrow's real-life champions. The game teaches and touches almost every aspect of the manufacturing industry--especially chemical process industries, metals, and minerals.

Our Game is Not Rigged by Computers

All market trades are done by a real human. It is almost impossible to manipulate the markets in the game. The exception is natural manipulation caused by large players. That happens in the real world, so it's part of the game. Most market activity supply-and-demand-driven by the actual players.

Gameplay

Just as in real life, you can never restart the game. If your wallet goes to zero, you have to find a loan. You can't buy game money with your real money. EVER! You have to earn it. However, you can convert game money to digital money and send it to your BTC or Ethereum wallet.

You can work for other companies to create cash flow to make your startup financially stable. There are many jobs available. For example, a company may be looking for a web designer for their mega-corp. Another may need day traders for a particular market. The possibilities and opportunities are endless! This game may even seem harder than real life. In real life, you can beg for help from your family. Sorry, but in this game, Mommy is not here for you. (My deep condolences to you if that is true in your real life. And the rest of you... hug them while you can. You don't get a chance to hug them once they're gone.) Are you still reading? Stop reading and join the game right now! No? Ok, then continue to read.

How the Game Works

You start with $1,000. As you may guess, you can't do much with such a small amount. In fact, a single mistake could send you into the inactive camp.
On the other hand, $1,000 is sufficient if you know how to buy value when prices are low or how to sell garbage when it goes to the moon. The real question is, can you distinguish between value and garbage? You need to understand a great cross-section of disciplines, such as volume analysis, supply and demand relationships, and basic chart reading or technical analysis. You could find a startup company who sells trading signals for a small fee. (I warn you if they really know the market's next move, they can use it for themselves and become an industry giant). So you can see the game has no limits.

Your Input

Just suggest something. You may be pleasantly surprised to have it implemented. That's the type of team spirit we have.

Action Takers Required

Are you still Reading? Ok, you like reading. I get it. But continuous reading won't get you there. Experience will.

How do you get experience?
By trying and failing again and again. Or you can borrow experience. Just like in real life. You can save a lot of time by find a good mentor (preferably a market research analyst and/or big data specialist/engineer) in the game. Otherwise, maybe it's best never to start this game.

Can You Identify An Opportunity When You See It?

This site is for innovators, entrepreneurs, skilled traders, and the like. We're a group of industrialists who eat, drink, and sleep economics and business simulations. Does that resonate with you? Knowledge, experience, dedication, sticking to one thing like epoxy to succeed? Yes?
All right then!

Let's get you started!

Project has been finished in late 2018 and went online again last week. One slight difference it is not a simple business simulation game, a very complex one. Most probably a good candidate for a metaverse. Try it. It is free and even earn some BTC if you go slowly and patiently.

Re: Earning a living from cyptocurrency options trading

Does Algoswan still update this thread? He said that he will post his live trades. I think it would be interesting to watch and learn from what he does and the moves he makes with Bitcoin and Ethereum. I am still a newbie in trading and I would like to know how much in average does he earn from trading. Also if my starting capital is 10 BTC how much would I expect to earn each month learning his style?
I think most people posting in this thread confuse cryptocurrency trading with cryptocurrency options trading. In options trading, you don't have to be right in your predictions all the time. Just google following: covered calls which is my main strategy to earn a living from cryptocurrency options trading.

Ah nice. It is good to see that the people behind ETC are doing their own conferences to get people together. Please post some news and who went there. I hope there will be entreprenuers and banks present.

I thougt the idea of crypto was to offer an altenative to banks?
If the banks are coming, im selling all my etc for gold and taking physical delivery of it too Wink

Don't worry banks prefer ETH instead of ETC.
http://www.coindesk.com/santander-vies-become-first-bank-issue-digital-cash-blockchain/

Do you know why? Banks prefer centralized organizations instead of decentralized orgs.

So,,, hold your ETC and some physical gold also not too bad  Grin
