Re: BTC’s Market Dominance back to 40% - what’s next?
by
Almat

I do not think market cap dominance is a good metric for anything, but the only reason Bitcoin shot back up to 40% is because altcoins have been weak in comparison. Nothing of note is next because it does not indicate anything of value, but I expect it to fluctuate around the 40% range for the length of the bear market.

I disagree. All you really need to do is sign up for a trustworthy exchange, and they will basically walk you through the process. At that point, you are already in the market.

The other stuff like wallets, etc. are pretty easy to learn, holding literally doesn't take any knowledge, and trading is timing more than anything else.

You don't need to know how bitcoin works in-depth. All you need is an overview of the transaction workflow.

All that alt money will find its way to bitcoin soon. The lightning network will be a game changer, both in how bitcoin works and its value Smiley

It is technically possible, but doing so would negatively impact the price. It is likely never going to happen.

I have long taken out my initial investment amount. It's all gains from here on out. That doesn't mean I believe bitcoin is going to die anytime soon, but it's stupid to assume that everyone here has their life savings in bitcoin.

On your end? You have two options: wait patiently, or use an accelerator service. There are free acceleration services in the Services section of the forum if you opt to go that route.

Re: [Bearish] Keep bitcoin away from the real economy, says billionaire

As I mentioned in the past bearish thread I made, the CME Group's creation of a bitcoin futures and derivatives market might cause another catastrophic financial crisis. There is nothing stopping the CME from including scam cryptocoins and tokens in their market. Like what they did in the past, they will combine different scam altcoins with bitcoin in tranches, and have them rated as class A investments.

It is a very terrible time to be bullish.

Peterffy is reacting to news from CME Group CEO Terry Duffy, who earlier this month announced bitcoin futures would debut on the CME by the end of the year.

Peterffy called this move "suicidal."

"Bitcoin has risen by 1,000 percent over the last year. It went from 700 to 7,000 -- there is nothing to say it wouldn't go to 70,0000," Peterffy said.

He argued that even 20 percent limit up or down on bitcoin, as Duffy has suggested, wouldn't protect against bitcoin's volatility.

"It could bring down the entire economy," he said.

Read the whole article https://www.cnbc.com/2017/11/15/thomas-peterffy-keep-bitcoin-away-from-the-real-economy.html

He is making legitimate arguments, actually. I thought it would be another FUD fest. There is no way to know but try though.

Round numbers (7500, 8000, 10000...) are always a barrier beause I think some traders decide they'll sell at this value, and naturally you define an order with a round number instead of a random value. If I was trading often, I would buy at, for example, 8000, and put an order to sell at 9000.

Wow, I have never thought of it this way. It sounds simplistic, but makes perfect sense. A perfectly plausible explanation in my opinion.

Men are more inclined to be adventurous when it comes to technology. Most women grew up in a society where tech is a 'guy thing', so it is not very surprising.

I saw this coming, but not this soon. All signs were pointing to BCH being relevant for a while, but it fizzled out just as quickly as it started. No forked coin can take over BTC.

I would have doubted this yesterday just because the BCH surge seemed like it would last long. Now that it is dead, $10,000 is very attainable. Time to HODL again in peace.

Re: Confusion and Euphoria As Bitcoin Cash Surges Past $30 Billion

BCH's time under the limelight is done. Its market cap is down to $20 billion back under Ethereum, and Bitcoin currently has more than 5x their hashrate. Whoever orchestrated this pump and dump has/have succeeded, and they seem to be out of the picture.

Yeah, it is sad how the so-called "leaders" (a term very loosely used for the most visible, influential people) are fighting amongst themselves. Anyway, I cannot offer any words of consolation. All I can really say is that things seem to be settling down and future attacks of the same vein are less likely to succeed in the future.

It is funny how fast the tables have turned. I am glad I am not one of the people who went all in on BCH. Whoever orchestrated that massive pump should really be dealt with tho. They managed to scam a lot of people.

124k at the moment. It has gotten a little better, at least. The BCH fad is starting to die down so I expect that things will get back to normal soon. For now, I will avoid moving BTC.

Miners move to where it is profitable. BTC will be more profitable for them again at some point, so they will abandon BCH. This is a temporary thing, do not worry about it.

BTC is back on top btw. BCH was artificially pumped and was therefore doomed to fail.

If you are the organizer of an ICO and are resident in Canada, your activity is anyway covered by Canadian laws. If you scam people or make false and misleading statements about your project you breach Canada laws and are liable. Why does ICOs need a special regulation?

Really? Under what law? I don't think they will create special laws for ICOs alone if some law already covers it anyway.

What good would that discovery bring if we can't get the gold anyway? There is really no reason to hate on gold as it is not against bitcoin, and nor is bitcoin against it.
