Just curious, what's in it for you if there are no commissions?  I might use your service if you seem trustworthy.

Yes, some sort of revenue will take place in the middle-term, there might be a fee on trades, but it will always remain significantly lower than the competition.

There are other revenue sources that have to be taken in consideration when deciding whether a business model is sketchy or not. For example, an exchange service can remain free forever if it manages to keep its operating costs lower than the interests it is getting just to let its users deposits sit at a bank.

In case some of you didn't know, Bitcoin-Central.net is also a showcase for the eponym open-source exchange platform that also powers some other popular exchanges. So there is also potential revenue in expert consulting.

Oh, and if someone has concerns about security remember it's fully open sourced (the version you see on github is the version running on the server). Let me tell you that being aware of people reading your code over your shoulder is the best incentive to write secure and clean software  Cheesy

Re: Vibanko.com - FREE New Wallet Service by Bitcoin Consultancy

https://Vibanko.com - FREE New Wallet Service by Bitcoin Consultancy

The Bitcoin Consultancy is proud to present a new wallet service called Vibanko.com
We know that the bitcoin market is lacking real developers and that even the biggest merchant sites often offer very poor service and security. Britcoin.co.uk has been in operation since March and has never been hacked or suffered any major error. We had a couple of problems due to human error, but nothing that was not fixable. Slapping on a McAfee logo and two factor authentication can be akin to putting more locks on the doors when the walls are paper thin.

Our new wallet service has been built and is being operated by us. We have been running as long as britcoin.co.uk and our security and service have been unmatched. The wallet service is also for now and for the foreseeable future completely free. Just like our exchange sites Britcoin.co.uk (GBP), Intersango.com (EUR) and Intersango.us (USD), we take absolutely no commission.

Wallet features include:

* Passwords are properly hashed
* Proper db permissions
* Simple Interface
* Support Via Email: support@britcoin.co.uk
* Who we are: www.bitcoinconsultancy.com

We plan on building an FAQ page and a good start is by answering the questions in this thread.

Contact us privately for any questions you may have which you wish to keep private at support@britcoin.co.uk

Congratulations on the launch!!!!

Re: Safest way to buying bitcoins for a Canadian
by
Amit@bitcoin-central.net
on 12/09/2011, 04:36:03 UTC
Hello there! I think this is my first post. I'm an Anarcho-capitalist a.k.a. Voluntaryist and I've had my eye on bitcoins for about a month now. I knew what they where and man I should have investigated more thoroughly while they where worth less! DAMN IT! haha

Oh well I've made up my mind. I want to get some bitcoins but I keep on seeing post about people getting scammed and not receiving the coins and all that.

I am wondering, what is the best way to get ahold of some coins? And btw I'm in Canada so I'm not sure the dwolla thing works. or does it? MtGox says "Dwolla (US)" this is why i ask.

So anyway I'd be very happy to figure the best way to safely buy some bitcoins cuz I am pretty damn sure they are going to skyrocket some more.

Thanks in advance!

Re: Bitcoin Social Network
by
Amit@bitcoin-central.net
on 03/09/2011, 14:22:58 UTC
Anyone interested in the idea of setting up a social network for bitcoin users, we would be basing the system on Diaspora, integrating OTC-WOT GPG, with a focus on allowing it to be bitcoin users identities online, such that they can have pseudonyms but at the same time not be faceless/anonymous.

Main concern also being to protect users privacy and prevent scammers on working their way back into the social fabric.

Another goal would be to have it running on a namecoid domain and be available via Tor.

Intersted?

Very interesting, willing to help out.
