It won't be long before investors look for true value. Gulden has to survive this part where investors are giving good money to bad projects.

I wanted to ask the developers how this privacy is different from anonymous coins, but ann is locked

3. Accounts and Privacy

Gulden for Desktop now uses accounts which you can add to serve different purposes. We have 2 different account creation types.

* Normal Accounts
* Mobile Accounts – which enables the link feature between your desktop and mobile device.

The additional privacy comes in for both deposits and withdrawals.

* Gulden deposits:
Gulden for desktop wallets will use a different Gulden address each time you receive Gulden, this way the depositors will have no way of knowing who else is sending you Gulden to your wallet.
Note: A depositor can continue to use the address you gave them for multiple deposits.

* Gulden withdrawals:
With accounts you can separate your payments depending on it’s intended use without the recipients of your Gulden knowing what other transactions your doing from within your wallet.
eg. You can have 1 account for family transactions and another for business transactions.

Hi, what is being talked about here is just that the accounts are 'physically' separated from one another, and don't ever exchange funds without you willingly choosing to do so.

This is not the whole anonymous thing that the anonymous coins are trying to do, which is more about transactions on the block chain being 100% untraceable under any circumstance.
While I find some of that 'interesting' from an academic perspective - I don't personally believe it is something that the average person wants or needs, and think it is probably a hindrance to mainstream adoption in various ways. Gulden's goal remains on the mainstream so this is not something that is anywhere in our current plans.

If I have two accounts "Private" and "Work" and use the one only to deal with my work customers and the other to only deal with my private contacts then my work contacts can't snoop on what payments I've been doing using my private wallet - as there are no (or little) block chain links between them.
i.e. basic privacy expectations that regular day people might have, but up until now haven't had with a standard wallet. (Unless they use multiple wallets - or coin control but nobody is actually disciplined enough to do that right)

Hope the above makes sense to you.

Thanks for taking the time to answer. This is perfect solution for me, any reason why main ann locked?

Bittrex has Gulden, livecoin doesn't. Gulden arguably the best alt coin in crypto now after 1.6.0 update. People are free to disprove me wrong and give examples. So yes Bittrex is better if you want the exchange with the best coin.

Official ann is locked but want to congratulate the gulden team for a job well done!

0.13 codebase 3 months after bitcoin is very fast, not even LTC has updated and LTC only doing the codebase update. Gulden is much better then LTC in every way from wallet design to fun features and innovation.

China going full blown HAM right meow!
http://fiatleak.com/

After BTC hits ATH (thanks to China) can you guys guess which coin they will turn to next? Smiley
...
I'll give you a hint, it's the ONLY altcoin listed on every major Chinese exchange.

I'm pretty confident the correct answer is Pepe coin.
Or Pepe related in some way.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1023925.0

PEPEcoin dont look that good to me.

Wow there... Are you anti-pepe or something?
I sense a lot of hate in those words.

Chinese exchanges love the Pepe. Its quite rare.

why would we choose pepecoin instead of litecoin?
i'm half chinese myself but in my country pepe means pussy. i don't think I'd pick pepe coin if there's better coin than it. I can't believe they named their coin pepe when they can just use pussy instead.

I think litecoin will be alternative for China like Gulden will be for Europe. Although Gulden means Golden which not a bad name for China too.

Weren't the Dutch also crazy about tulips too? And now they've discovered the blockchain??

BACK UP THE TRUCK!!!

Deutsche Bank is also having some worries and people will be looking for alternatives. 90% bitcoin and 10% Gulden investment would be what a lot of Germans will do.

Emotional strings is not working out very well for other country coins with same name was previous currency. A name can only get you so far.

But that is exactly because the Gulden had such strong resonance, while, say, the French frank, or the Spanish peseta had much, much less emotional significance.

BTW, there ARE no "country coins".  There are crypto coins which have the NAME of countries of fiat denominations.  But that doesn't mean they have anything to do with that currency or with that country.  That's the whole point !  This is nothing but a kind of scam to attach the name of a country or a (former) fiat denomination to a crypto.  Gulden has just as much to do with the Netherlands or with their former fiat, as Jupitercoin has to do with the planet Jupiter.

Quote
Before every negative poster makes themselves look foolish, lets see what they do for 1.6.0 and then we talk again?

As I said, I didn't look into the technicalities of the Gulden.  The "name scam" was to me enough to put me off.  If it has technical merit, then that merit should stand on its own, and any name would do.  The name is too much of a false association trick.  If it is technically sound, then it is a pity to have done this naming scam.

A lot of Germans and Belgiums will have no problem supporting the Gulden, this will be a coin for Europe not just the Netherlands. I do agree that it has a emotional connection with people above 40 years old but now the younger generation can get to experience the power of the new Gulden that is being delivered by a new generation.

For those looking for more stimulating conversations please come join us on slack.

I got a new user into Gulden from Germany, was easy when showing him the android wallet. I tested the android wallet restore from the backup phrase and it worked good, it feels as safe as the desktop wallets but am I right or is the desktop wallets safer?

Does the development team have timeframe for Prime? I think this is what people want before they invest in Gulden, some of my circle in Germany say Gulden has not done anything different to bitcoin and want to see the development team is capable of doing evolutionary progress and not copy others.

Has anyone used the Android wallet to buy a game on steam? Before I make a purchase want to make sure it works.

Hey Tom,

We have a user on our slack channel that has purchased games on steam . Come and join us on slack , we have just over 150 users now.

Slack is where 99% of the conversations about Gulden take place. We will still continue to post updates about Gulden here if you don't want to join.

150 user an d 16 btc funding. Is NL poor country?

I know you a troll but there is a few rich Dutch people that used to be involved in alts but because of all the scammers are only interested in bitcoin. Other group of Dutch people are putting some funds into AUR. LTEX, BIOMIKE, ontopicplease and more. They used to be involved with Gulden but didn't like the main forums and some other things at the time.

The funding will never finish without all the Dutch people involved with ALTs helping.

Gulden is more a coin for entire Eurozone not only Netherlands. I am going to help support prices on bittrex and prevent a crash while all the bitcoin is going to crowdfunding.

Nocks will be at the Mobile Convention Amsterdam, at the Startup Alley section of the event to present Nocks and talk about all its features and goals. Later in the day we move over to Startup Friday, an event held by ABN Amro Innovation Center, where we will pitch Nocks to a varied audience consisting of bankers and people interested in blockchain, finance or are just curious in general. You can also watch the event live through startupfriday.nl.

You guys at the Nocks are doing an amazing job  Cool

For some ideas for the convention, maybe you guys can give some flyers to all those who attends the convention.
Tell them in those flyers about Nocks & Gulden, and what can Nocks & Gulden can offers to people.
I thinks it a good ideas to also add, Nocks mobile App & futures projects like PRIME inside those flyers too.
Plus when they got home they can shares those flyers with their family and friends too....just my 2 cents ideas  Grin

These are good suggestions to help spread the word about Gulden.

Must I make a backup of my Android wallet every time my receive address change ? I have written down my passphrase and put in a safe place . I have tested a restore from phrase and backup and both worked with my balance showing. Will a once off backup know of future receive change address?

Very happy with new wallet and feel confident with leaving my coins on it, if you can confirm the above for physical backup.

No unlike the desktop wallet both our mobile wallets are HD (https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Deterministic_wallet) this means that just a single backup (or just the recovery phrase) will always be sufficient to keep your money safe, the wallet is able to regenerate/recalculate all used addresses from an old backup even if you have generated millions of them since the backup was made. That said in such an instance you will still lose other transaction history information (like labels and whatnot) if you recover from an old backup, so there are still benefits to frequent backups - but is not as important as the desktop wallet.

What is very important is that you keep the recovery phrase and/or a single backup copy somewhere safe so that you can always recover and keep in mind that if the recovery phrase is stolen/compromised it can be used to steal your balance (so its important you keep it in a safe way - the wallet backups are encrypted with a password of your choice to help facilitate this)

With the desktop wallet (and this applies for pretty much all coins) backups are good for (roughly) 100 new addresses - so you also don't need to backup after absolutely every transaction but it is good practice to do so regularly. If more than 100 addresses are allocated since last backup then you can lose money when restoring from the old backup - we will likely do something to make this process more friendly/safer in a future release.

Speaking of Android wallets, MaNI did a quick video of a purchase he made at South Africas largest online retailer that accepts bitcoin,  this was without using the QR scanner so he could capture everything on the phone.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HCSLaIz7JR8

Glad you like the Android wallet AndreasK , let us know if you have anymore questions.

Thank you MaNI for explaining, excited for your teams next development.

Yes, just send all your coins from old wallet to address of new wallet, and then once the transfer is safely processed you can remove the old wallet.

I will try this , thanks.

Thank you for this wonderful wallet! I like that it brings up a pin you must enter and phrase to copy when you first login or you forget to secure and backup your wallet.

Installed on 3 devices. No problems, sync was lightning quick on all 3. Progress bar is helpful , no other android wallet has this. Good selections of currencies and transactions notified instantly. Perfect wallet and good work!

Much better wallet, is it safe to transfer from old to new wallet?
