Thank you for this post!

It is long past time that members stopped picking on people who are making the effort to deal with a language that is very easy to learn.

I refer of course to English, which has any number of hard and fast rules, except when it doesn't.

My $.02.

Wink
FTFY.

Wrongo, Boyo!

English is a seventy-five carat, gold-plated bitch to learn!

Most primary speakers don't know the rules, much less follow them; the misuse of the apostrophe being one error wich I find most annoying, not to mention the decline of the subjunctive!

Here is an example which typifies the difficulty of English:

To.

Too.

Two.

Here's another:

Won.

One.

How about:

Die.

Dye.

The list goes on.........................

And as far as things go, I see lots of folks around here trying to learn and use English but damned few native English speakers trying to use anyone else's language....................

The Ugly American at work?

My $.02.

Wink

Also don't forget about how we misuse words all the time.  For instance...in the US, we drive on parkways and park on driveways.   When we send stuff by car, we call it shipment, and when we send stuff by ship we call it cargo.  Our boxing rings are squares.  Quite a few and quite a lot mean the exact same thing.  We call it "filling out a form" when in fact we are filling it in.  We say our feet smell, and our noses run!  And the worst one is we call them "apartments" when they are really all stuck together!

If I'm taking bitcoins as payment on my website how many confirmations should I wait for before accepting the payment?

Apparently you should've waited a few more.

The problems it has been facing currently are so severe for such a mature coin that it is not worth of using anymore. It is ridiculous how long it takes even to get 1 confirmation. Today it took almost 8 hours with me despite I used relatively high fee - 0.005 BTC.
Hmm. Mine went through in 2mins. Are you sending from bitcoin-qt?

I've only ever done one transaction through my iphone blockchain app, (actually purchasing goods, I mean) and that transaction didn't take 2 minutes...it didn't take 1 minute.  It was instant, just like a credit card.  Maybe I got lucky?

Can't believe how successful this coin is compared to the N-factor premined pandacoin (scamcoin).

Goes to show that smart money knows premines are trash.

463 MH/s 3h after launch, not bad...

Just broke half a gigahash!  Smiley

I spent it all on pizza long ago:  https://blockchain.info/address/1XPTgDRhN8RFnzniWCddobD9iKZatrvH4

3-4 years ago there were less than 100 people frequenting this forum, and I was pretty happy to trade 10,000 coins for pizza.  I mean people can say I'm stupid, but it was a great deal at the time.  I don't think anyone could have known it would take off like this. Smiley

Surely you have a few hundred bitcoins tucked away somewhere...you didn't really spend ALL of it on pizza, did you?

I only own a very small amount of dogecoins (about 250,000).  I bought them for .1 btc (about $78 at the time)  I figured I spend that much in lottery tickets in 2 weeks that at least I might have something to show for it later.  Hoping this lottery ticket pays off in a few years.  Smiley
wtf you spend $150 per month on lottery tickets...

I was spending about $20 every drawing...2 drawings per week, so probably a bit more.  I haven't played lotto since Christmas though since I've been buying Crytpos.   Why?  Is $150 a lot of money to you?   Tongue

As I am writing this, Dogecoin is up almost 70% today, about to break the $20m market cap with $2.2m trading hands.

Such Volume.  Much profit.

Not included are all the efficiencies Bitcoin will introduce into the economy if it goes mainstream. A fully internationalized, frictionless division of labor will be an incredible boon to the economy. And there's so much more. I think a price target of $100 million, conservatively, is more realistic.

If Bitcoin goes big, it pretty much has to go whole hog. We are witnessing nothing less than a global transition from physical goods and trust-based money to an unimpeachable universal asset ledger. Anything else will look archaic by comparison, and the value added to the economy in the next 10 years will blow even these first 20 years of the modern Internet out of the water.

100 million dollars per bitcoin is ridiculous, in my opinion. Given that there are 10,000 people with over 100 bitcoins, there would be 10,000 people worth over 10 billion dollars. Today, there are only 1,500 people in the world worth one billion dollars or more.

In 1982 there were only 12 billionaires.   In 2000 there were about 300.   And now 1,500.   So in 2025 maybe 10,000+ billionaires.  Smiley

What wallet should I use?

I'm very new to bitcoins and after trying to sync the bitcoin-qt wallet (that took hours upon hours upon hours) I kind of gave up.  Especially after doing a search and reading that some people took days to sync that wallet for the first time.  What is a good secure wallet to use?
