P2Pool Node Peaking at 100% CPU for No Apparent Reason
by

Hello,

I have got a P2Pool node on a VPS that seems to act up about every 2-6 hours. If I kill P2Pool and restart, all the miners connect back and everything works fine. CPU never goes above about 30%. Then, for no apparent reason, it will max out at least one core and the web interface of the node becomes unavailable. The only fix is to kill P2Pool and restart it. Then it repeats after a few hours.

This node has operated in the very recent past with nearly 4x the current hashrate with no issues, so I am wondering if anyone knows what is going on. After a restart, the web interface shows no hashrate during the outage, even though the CPU was maxed.

I also have another node (for a different coin) running on the same VPS, and it is unaffected.

Any ideas?

Code:
screen -d -m -S myp2pool ~/p2pool/run_p2pool.py --max-conns 50 --give-author 0.5 --net (coinname) UN PW

Any word on a main exchange picking TIPS up? I'm surprised Cryptsy hasn't got them on board yet.

Is it just me, or does the US server seem to be bugged again?

I am getting frequent disconnects from the US server as well. Looks similar to what was happening about a week or so ago.

What is the EU server info?

I am assuming this is US - stratum+tcp://middlecoin.com:3333

Are there only the two?

Is there a good place to keep up with future alt coin launches besides here?

Is there a reputable place that keeps track of upcoming alt coin launches besides this forum? The problem I see is you really have to be checking every day or multiple times a day here due to the sheer volume of posts. Is there a blog or website that has a list of new coins?

Re: Why should I buy bitcoin?

Hey guys,
Can someone convince me why I should buy some bitcoin? I am considering buying 40 bucks worth. Why should I invest? Where should I invest? Any tips are appreciated, seeing as I am very new to bitcoin.
Thanks!

If bitcoin flops, you out 40 bucks.

If bitcoin succeeds, you will have the equivalent of 10s of thousands of dollars or more.

If your in the US, open up a coin base account and buy it there. Easy for newbies.

It's really anyone's guess. A year from now, BTC could be worth 10k each and you come out quite a bit ahead. But then again, difficulty can be 50x what it is now.

My advice, use the block eruptors to have fun and learn. If your trying to maximize profit, its probably better to buy the BTC outright.

It's a tough one, and you might have to chalk it up as a learning experience. Lawyers can eat through that amount of money pretty quickly, and in the only ones that win are them.
