with the prices swinging wildly +-40% in the matter of hours, its kind of difficult not to pay attention to it

Other exchanges have bottomed out at about $70.

I would assume that as soon as mtgox opens the price will shoot down to $70, at which point the buying will start bringing it back to somewhere around $100.

My guess is that everyone buying $50-70 coins are going to try dumping them on gox for 120 at the same time even though likely all the buys that high were canceled, and the price is going to spiral down again because of the mad dash to about 35.

Thats silly.. they cant handle a sell off true.. but its the volatile people responding to it as a crash, or selling because it hit the daily peak trying to get out and let the panic take hold.. then there is mass sell, then the lag grows, and people start responding to mass panic, causing more lag and more sells.   too many of these little incidents will eventually hurt us for real if gox doesnt do something to prevent this.... provided it isnt on purpose

Anyone having a problem with multibit?

Ive had coins stuck in limbo for the last 2 hours,  still have only been seen by 1 peer, which i assume is myself and hasnt touched the chain yet.Ive had held up for like a half hour before, but those had at least hit the chain and waited for confirmations.   Anyone having a similar problem?

edit:  sigh.....of course it hits the chain as soon as i hit send, i should have bitched earlier.

You've seen this, right? http://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/1bh3s9/coinbase_to_service_more_purchases/

Sounds to me like they are doing what they can to allow people to buy more coins. Makes sense from a business standpoint.

Yes, read this. People are over-reacting and not reading what Coinbase is saying. There is nothing negative about it.

This is an additional, and OPTIONAL feature they are trying. There is still the normal 24-hour rolling limit, where you can buy bitcoins for the current price. If they have reached the limit for the day, you have the option to put in an order, and receive the coins at the price when more funds arrive. If you don't want to do this, you can just cancel your order.

It isnt optional though.. you cant click buy without agreeing that you may get a 5 day delay  whereas before you could just click until it went through right there.    im not sure if the auto-buy thing helps it become more optional or not

what are other good options? i dont mind waiting a few days to get money into an account like mtgox.. but i dont want to have to spend $20 in wire xfer fees because i honestly buy like 1 or 2 coins at a time as fiat is available. not to mention to some random person in another country.. i think bitcoin is sketchy enough without that.

time it right based on what?  i cant just click until it goes through anymore

edit: now that ive re-read it.. i understand that the amount of coins you get will vary, not the amount you get charged..  but really that is still silly with the wildly swaying prices.   we went from 96 to 105 over the course of an hour or 2

I guess it's better than not being able to buy at all.

Actually its not.. if you bought multiple small quantities of coins.. you could just click buy and have buy orders within a couple of minutes.  that was MUCH better than saying "we'll force you into whatever the price is at some unforseen time"   i spit my drink out when i read that.

Need a new site to buy BTC directly from my bank... and LTC too lol.   cant justify $20 wire fees for the small time coining i do

used the majority of my fiat to buy at 88.. even if it dips, theres really nothing i could do about it since i dont use mtgox.  im at a point where i know i'll probably never make alot of money from this, but not sure how willing i am to funnel more into it due to its volatility

Last night i spent a few hours trying to mine litecoins with guiminer, and i noticed that the pool i was in, even after 16 shares found, the site showed my hash rate as 0, and no shares found.. then i switched to another pool thinking was something wrong with it.. same thing.. i left this one on overnight. had about 150 shares.. still nothing.   am i incorrectly setting this up or something?
