Would be curious to know if any investors of any projects presented at bnktothefuture has made any money so far.

with a ROI in some years I think you have already an answer... Smiley

Time will tell, although as someone mentioned in this thread the projections aren't very impressive for those projects.

What is the fund's policy in case one of the investment center defaults ?

The fund can't control anything... out of their control. What is the policy? What are they supposed to do?

Well you tell me, I'm not running their fund. They have a couple of options: they can just write down the "lost" assets and reflect it directly on the fund's NAV and drop the claim, or they can try to actively pursue the claim. I'm sure that if it would be something like Poloniex defaulting on their obligations, there would be some kind of legal recourse available given that they are a real company. If so, at whose expenses ? The stakeholders' or the fund management ? How would that be reflected on the management fee ?

These were the kind of questions I was wondering about.

Anybody can do +8.7% in a month once, all it takes is some luck. What's harder is to manage to get such a return consistently for a long period of time, and this number is just not sustainable as even the best traders in the world can't match that.

As crazyivan said, good luck with your fund and don't be too disappointed if you lose it all.

when you look NYSE or Dow Jones. All companies are priced as x30 years of profit or 7-10x of annual income.

so it seen logical general investment perspective. but yes a bit low comparing to crypto-asset invesments roi.

This is nonsense, first you're mentioning an exchange and an index like they're equivalent. What you're referring to is called the P/E ratio and it's surely not around 30 for all companies on major exchanges. It's a metric that is highly dependent on the industry sector and can tremendously vary.

For exemple:
  • Goldman Sachs (GS on NYSE) has a P/E ratio around 20
  • Tesla has a negative P/E since it is actually losing money, and is yet valued at 30 billion.

That being said, the valuation they're implying with this offer seems indeed a bit high considering their situation and I would love to see their latest financial report. It will be interesting to see how much they will raise given that they're at 33% currently and have only a month left.

Updated the price to 100 USD. It's really not a complicated task, everything is outlined in the paper. An average C++ programmer knowing operator overloading should be able to do it in 2-3 hours.

For full details I think the best is to read the paper I linked in the original post as the whole process of building the program is outlined in it. A short summary would be that the program must produce boolean formulae for each bit of the sha256 output in terms of boolean variables of the input. These formulae have to be in the standard DIMACS CNF format.

Looking for a C++ programmer

I'm looking for someone to write a little C++ program for generating SAT formulae for hash functions, as presented in http://csl.sri.com/users/dejan/papers/jovanovic-hashsat-2005.pdf.

The goal is to produce the "HashSAT Formula Generator" as described in 4.3, with sha256 as the test hash function.

I'm offering the equivalent of 50 100 USD in BTC upon completion of the work.

Assuming "+ private key (32 bytes) +" stands for the private exponent of the key, you have to prepend the version byte 0x80, then apply Base58Check (see the "Encoding a private key" section of https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Base58Check_encoding )

Edit: Actually the whole process is outlined step-by-step at https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Wallet_import_format

@ -MarkM-
You said it best. Getting hacked is just a lame excuse to steal people funds. It's so easy to say
I was hacked.

Yes, and that won't change while almost everyone here is ready to throw coins at yet another exchange without doing any due diligence whatsoever. In the meantime https://x-bt.com has been running for almost a year without any incident, check it out if you want to trade serious altcoins.

Do not trade your coins in the small exchange like OpenEx.  Smiley

The problem is not the fact that the exchange is small (they all have to start somewhere, right ?) but don't trade your coins on exchanges where it's clear the owner/dev doesn't know what he's really doing. The twitter feed provides and provided enough clues that indeed he doesn't.

Referral program

X-BT has just launched a referral program. Each registered user is given an affiliate link he can find in the settings menu. For every user that he directs to X-BT, he will earn 50% of all his trading fees.

Moreover X-BT plans to implement Primecoin soon.

And on top of that the most dangerous and most likely enemy, the government itself, can easily fake 100,000s of passports.
Exactly.

And if bad nodes actually become a problem, you can simply... force-add a few people you trust (and no, it won't split the network).

Yeah, that's the right way to protect from a Sybil attack.

Moreover, I think the low trading fee is a good incentive for large volume/frequent traders, as is the overall clean interface (can you say that about btc-e ?). And as for the other exchanges, I have heard there are quite some issues.

you need NMC/LTC. and if you do add XPM then you need XPM/LTC, XPM/NMC, and XPM/BTC.

I thought about implementing other pairs, but I simply think there won't be too much depth and volume on these to make it worth it.

Can you elaborate on trustworthiness ? BTC-E has been there for long now that's true, but I heard a lot of complaining about their support, and deposits are often delayed (in my experience too).

The other exchanges out there are not much more trustworthy in my opinion, in the end you rely on the guy running it.

Hello guys, I already created a thread in the Service Announcement section, but was told to post one topic here to get more expsoure to the Altcoin community.

Couple of days ago I launched my atlcoin exchange platform :

https://www.x-bt.com/img/logo.png

The platform aims to provide a secure and solid exchange platform for the most established altcoins out there. This is not meant to be another Cryptsy
trading half hundreds of coin pairs.

Currently, only Bitcoin, Litecoin and Namecoin are supported. I plan to add Primecoin in the future.

The site was designed with security in mind as the most important part, and more than half of the development time was dedicated to that task. The exchange has all the feature you would expect from a serious platform :
  • A complete API for automated trading
  • 2FA using Google Authentificator, for login and withdrawals (optional)
  • Fast deposits for low bitcoin amonts (from 1 confirmation)
  • Cold storage, database integrity checks and various security mecanisms to ensure your coins are safe

But most of all, the platform has the lowest fees of the industry, charging 0.1% transaction fees.

Here is the link to the Service Announcement topic : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=188304.0
Any feedback and suggestion is appreciated, you can contact us at #x-bt on Freenode, or via the on-site form.

I hope to see a lot of you trading on X-BT !
