Search Uniswap for all my tokens in an address
by
AppliedOptimal
on 13/12/2020, 19:42:31 UTC
Do you remember delta balances https://deltabalances.github.io/ where you could just search for your tokens simply by entering your eth address? It is still there but it is not searching uniswap, 1.inch, and other similar things. It is just searching for dexes such as forkdelta, which is what it has always done.

Metamask is searching 7 of these for a token but that is it. It is not showing prices of ALL my tokens, just showing reputable tokens.

I would like a method where I would enter my eth address such as 0xbd........ and then the website would search uniswap etc. for all my tokens on that address for prices&liquidity.
For example, I discovered that one of the tokens in my address was worth almost 1 eth the other day and I was able to sell them for 0.40 eth today. If there is a place for searching, I could sell them earlier.

Re: In the next decade, BTC and digital currencies will “fully” replace fiat?
by
AppliedOptimal
on 04/02/2020, 11:21:58 UTC
I agree that the next century will be the time for cryptocurrencies, but I do not think it will totally and fully replace FIAT. The governments continue to exists, so they will not want to give up their power and they may come up with the crypto version of their crappy FIAT.
Cash money is almost out of use in countries like China anyways, and everyone else tend to use digital money based on fiat. Blockchain based cryptocurrency will have its own use, but as long as some people would like to have the monopoly of money to themselves, the government printed money, digital or paper, will live on.

My principle is to hold my crypto assets and just use FIAT on hand. Anything I need to sell outside crypto I wait until the very last day.
I have not sold a single satoshi up to this point and I am pleased with that. It is hard to predict market movements and I would use other resources before I touch my crypto, if I were you.

Re: paper wallet was stolen
by

@OP I can teach you how to properly secure your funds. We can do it here or if you'd like you can PM me.

Paper wallets can be the absolute best option for long term storage if you do it right. Hardware wallets, however, constantly have vulnerabilities found out. Don't believe me. Go ahead and Google "hardware wallet vulnerability". You'll notice that the vulnerabilities have come out over many years and fresh ones have just been found out. They're obviously not properly tested, other than of course the general public buying them and reporting vulnerabilities.

Don't blindly trust third parties (hardware wallet manufacturers) because of this mishap. Learn from it, change your method accordingly and sleep easy knowing you'll never have to worry about your funds being stolen again.

I think the problem stems from the bad site the paper wallet was generated on. So, as long as the site is trustworthy or the person just uses the original GitHub code, it should be safe.
I agree with Chris that trusting a third party is risky. Let's say something happened to your hardware wallet, you lost it, dropped it in the Ocean, crushed it with your car, use your imagination. You buy another one and use the same pin? Well, if the hardware wallet company went out of business, you are screwed.
Trusting a third party is against the very soul of decentralization, I don't understand why people keep pushing hardware wallets.

Re: help needed in blockchain analysis

Please give me a list of individuals I could contact and companies. I now currently only have chainalysis.

Just google 'blockchain analysis' and a few will show up:

https://www.elliptic.co/
https://www.coinfirm.com/
https://www.scorechain.com/
https://crystalblockchain.com/
https://www.whitestream.io/

(there are or at least used to be more of such companies but some got bought out)

and maybe Kim Nilsson of wizsec: https://www.blogger.com/profile/00130450507411246919

Pretty good companies. Here is a summary and short info:

https://www.chainalysis.com/ Helped with Mt. Gox. New York company.
https://whitestream.io/ Solved Coinbase and Hamas related problems. Israeli company.
https://www.elliptic.co/ They have offices in Singapore and Japan, a British company. This company recently discovered a Hamas related group receiving donations. This is pretty new, September 2019.

For further information on these three companies, check out:
https://acfeinsights.squarespace.com/acfe-insights/3-companies-developing-blockchain-analytics-tools

I think you could use a blockchain-related lawyer company. Check out Blockchain Law Society https://blockchainlawsociety.com/
Here is another one: https://www.njordlaw.com/areas-of-expertise/blockchain-cryptocurrency-fintech/
https://www.twobirds.com/en/in-focus/blockchain
etc. I don't know where you are located, but it is best if you use a blockchain-related lawyer, as opposed to a generic one. You can google them for your country or write your country here and people will provide advice on that. I am assuming you already have one, but they can collaborate.

Re: Did China really crash Bitcoin again?
by
AppliedOptimal
on 26/11/2019, 12:13:55 UTC
I think the main reason is not the news, but the fact that Asian investors and traders, those including in China, have started to sell their bitcoins before anyone else.
It created an avalanche, or a herd instinct, if you will, and caused people in the other parts of the world to sell. It is FUD at its best and it turns out the raid on Binance offices came out to be fake.
This space is still Wild West with buncha gunslingers, but it is way more mature compared to some 2 years ago.

I would love to see an escrow service, and it should be decentralized. This will definitely help towards bitcoin adoption and increase market activity for the forum.
Adding youtube videos to posts should be possible as well.

Your .gif size is too large (21,6mb)
IIRC, maximum file size can be displayed is no more than 2,5mb

Thanks for the tip. It should work this time, used ezgif.com to decrease the size below 2.5 mb:

Re: Economy of running an ETH node
by
AppliedOptimal
on 07/11/2019, 18:54:01 UTC
Well, I would not mind staking some ETH but then I would have to run a node and leave my pc on 24 hours a day, which ages the components. Aaaaaand you get punished if you go offline at night or something. That would be bad for your investment.
I guess we will see when it goes online and when things are ironed out.

Economy of running an ETH node
by
AppliedOptimal
on 07/11/2019, 06:35:01 UTC
According to this article, max annual return rate (for validators) ranges from 1.56% to 18.10%. The costs will be around $120/year for a beacon node and $60/year per validator client.
So, you spend about 180 USD for running one validator and stake your 32 ETH, which is 6K USD at the moment.
If you get 1.56% per year, you will get 93.6 USD per year for your 32 ETH, which is about 0.5 ETH. With this rate, you are basically losing money, 180 USD versus 93.6 USD, considering ETH price is the same.
If you get the maximum rate because there are not many nodes, you will get 5.79 ETH per year, and you have to be running your computer 24/7.

Not sure if this is worth it if you run one node only. Ideas?
