Re: SHA-256 offers better decentralization than scrypt

How is that decentralized with 4(2)ASIC Producers:
- ASICMiner - the Monopoly ASIC
- Avalon - Only 1500 units and no more to come.
- BFL - Not shiping anytime soon.
- KnCMiner - Probably even longer then BFL before shipping.

How is it decentralized with one company producing ASIC to the masses ?_?

Re: Proof of Work Question
by

If you can deterministically decide who will solve the next block depending on the result from such a proof of work scheme you would theoretically only need one active node that does the proof of work. That way the proof of work actually becomes a proof of CPUtime and has a difficulty roof because the answer needs to be iterated(=forced to 1 CPU thread) = limited amount of energy required to secure the blockchain.

Proof of Work Question
by
Arnold37
on 05/07/2013, 22:29:25 UTC
Is it possible to make a proof of work scheme where you can prove how many iterations you have done without redoing the whole calculation?

Psuedocode Example:

var Value = StartValue;

Repeat(x)
{
     Value = IteratePoW(Value);
}

bool is50Iteration = ValidatePoW(StartValue, Value, 50);
if(is50Iteration)
{
    //Accept block
}
else
{
    //Deny block
}

Why I wonder about it is because it might be the requirement for a more energy efficient p2p Currency.

For some reason I didn't think this project was going to be as hard as it is. Though those source files did help a lot I think I am going to wait till I'm a bit more experienced in this field.

Thanks for all the help though!
You can try to make a gambling site, that seems to always get the money rolling Tongue

I want to trust them. I really do. Where else can we get ASIC?
I think ASIC miner have had some succesful auctions but i havent bought any devices from them so Im no wiser. Do som deeper digging in the hardware forums and form your own opinion about them.
Avalon batch #4 seem very far so does BFL.

Then there are people like me. That ordered 2 units and waited, read all I can read and watched every move every update from BFL gave them every chance to redeem themselves. I can make a chronicled detailed month by month account of my experience but as most of you have already made your mind I gues it would fall on deaf ears.

I have also gone on his forum and expressed my concerns about what they're doing and have not gotten into any trouble by any moderators there. I have even had the "privilage" if you want to call it that, of asking Josh reasonable question that to this day has never answered me back. I have asked his the same questions here and also ignored. The question was that when I ordered my units in Oct of 2012 and he was stating that shipments were possible in late Dec what was he so sure was going to be shipped then when he moved to the new location in late Jan and purchased new tabled to assemble the units on. No answer.

How about the promises in Jan,Feb,Mar, and April now were hearing June-July. My orders in Oct would be still waiting to be shipped. What was shipping in Dec that needed me to hurry and place  a pre-order quick to get in line?

I'm just telling it as I see it. My experience if I come off as upset, there is a reason for that. To be honest if you want to ignore me then your just collateral damage as far as I see it.

It's not like I'm going to get a thank you anyways later.
Even if they deliver anything more then 12 units you did the right thing to leave IMO. People who care more about shit talking "non belivers" then taking care of existing investors and making a kickass ASIC should not be making any hardware or profit  Angry

You received no answer because your question was so incredibly stupid that it doesn't deserve an answer.  I mean, seriously, just stop and use your brain for one second.  Just one second.  How did we manage to assemble and ship thousands of FPGA units?  Do you think they just magically fell out of the sky and we shipped them out?  Don't you think (no, you don't, obviously) that we might use that same facility/tables/benches/chairs/etc... to assemble ASIC units?  Are you really this stupid?

This is why I don't take you seriously... you can't even form a cogent thought on simple mechanics, such as assembly... why should I bother to answer any of your other equally asinine questions if you can't even comprehend such a simple thing as new benches vs old benches.

You sir seem to be one of those who prefer to shit talk "non belivers".  Cheesy

I have not programmed any FPGA or built any ASICs but just because you "can" doesnt mean you can proclaim people idiots who dont.

btw. A new bench is a old bench in ten years am i right? An ASIC bench vs a FPGA bench though have a clear distinction. L2Not be an Idiot Grin

Re: Why are some people so Anti Bitcoins??

Bitcoin is a scam because it is shit as money. Btc incentives hoarding and price manipulation. When a coin comes out that ties the value to the market participation and incentives sharing and spending and new market participation bitcoin will die and take its place in history beside myspace and beanie babies.

On the contrary, I think it'll go down in history as being one of the first successful crypocurrencies to make it to mainstream adoption Tongue But who's to tell where it'll end up, definitely not me or you.
There are a lot of technical challenges to overcome for bitcoin to reach mainstream everyday adoption. My guess is that Bitcoin will likely be a backend where the "value is stored" and wallet services provide the small and fast transactions for everyday transactions.

A good start is the Bitcoin Client API: https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/API_reference_(JSON-RPC).

IMO a bitcoin wallet is the worst starter project you can do. Especially when you dont have patience to do the research or the required expertise in IT-Security which is very important when dealing with peoples money. There have been a lot of hacks and security breaches in the bitconomy already and we dont need more.

Yeah they're a bunch of cons.  Nothing about their operation makes sense if you assume its legit.
They have proved they have some hardware but I greatly disagree with their business practices so they are the last ASIC producer I would buy from.
