Re: Global P2P cryptocurrency exchange that doesn't hold your funds

I didn’t understand what the word "doesn't hold your funds" means, if your platform supports/acts_as escrow, it need to manage/control that funds.
What is the address/located of that company?

We don't act like escrow - we generate it for each specific trade. Escrow is the type of 2-out-of-2, where 2 keys required to make a release: one belongs to the seller, one is the Hodl Hodl's key.

Currently, we're implementing new type of escrow account: 2-out-of-3, where the buyer will have a key as well.

I do not know about the legal status of this, but I do not expect it to remain in the future.
EDIT:  Your site works as Binance platform, you can use it without verification, but you need to verify it to bypass the restrictions.
Source: https://hodlhodl.com/pages/faq#are_there_any_limits_for_a_user_on_exchange

We apply limits to users for the sake of improving your overall experience, specifically your safety and comfort level when using our exchange.

Our exchange offers many features, and each feature could potentially become a target of any of the well known spam & scam cases in the crypto-community, so we have taken the necessary steps to reduce this possibility so that unfair users cannot harm you, and user limits help protect users.

Limitations set by us doesn't interfere with trading at Hodl Hodl, they interfere with scammers.

ETH is now more common than Litecoin, why you support it?

Since adding ETH is much more complicated, than adding LTC.

Good movement Smiley

Thanks.

Looks like a very professional project and extremely well thought out.

I think that the fact that Localbitcoins has recently made it a requirement for everyone that wants to advertise on their platform now makes it a lot easier for competitors such as you guys to enter the market. And to use multisig escrow, with support of other altcoins planned, I can see this going a long way to potentially overtake paxful if everything is done well.

It'll be hard to build a customer base that trusts you. These p2p exchanges require lots of trust, and people essentially use it as their wallet to store all their crypto. A new business can have a difficult time doing that. Also, gaining enough local users that actively advertise is gonna be hard, I searched and most of the offers are "anywhere" and aren't that appealing to someone using it locally.

How do you like the fact that we're not hoDling your funds? Also, have a question - why is it bad, that most of our users post global offers?

Interesting P2P exchange project.
But I wonder if your project would be user-friendly and if the trading could be finished fast.

Isn't it already user-friendly? Thanks for your review!

I just used the exchange, the seller received my bank transfer today he just wrote to me saying he can´t release the funds, he claims to be gotten the following message when attempting to release the BTC.

"Not enough funds on escrow address. Perhaps, the transaction to the escrow address hasn't been confirmed yet. Please try again later."

Just wworte to support and waiting to hear back from them, hopefuly it is something that can be fixed...

Just to clarify here - the problem really existed on our side, but we've fixed it in quick order and buyer successfully received his bitcoins.

Looks very interesting.

Good luck with your project and I will be sure to look over the referral program.  Wink

The crypto space needs more p2p exchanges.

Thanks a lot! We'll start paying referral fees once Hodl Hodl implemented fees (Q3 2018).

Hey Hodlers,

Today, Hodl Hodl, a P2P cryptocurrency exchange, has enabled contracts and trading functionality. From this moment on, until July 2018 - you can sign up and trade with zero commissions.

Join us at hodlhodl.com!

What is Hodl Hodl?

Hodl Hodl is a P2P cryptocurrency exchange that allows users to trade directly with each other and it doesn't hold user funds - locking it in multisig escrow instead.

How does Hodl Hodl work?

All trading activity happens directly between buyers and sellers, and without a middleman involved. Each time a contract is created between two parties, Hodl Hodl exchange generates a unique multisig escrow cryptocurrency address. The seller sends cryptocurrency from his wallet to this address, and when the cryptocurrency is safely locked in escrow, the buyer sends his fiat currency (such as EUR or USD) to the seller. Upon receipt of the fiat, the seller then releases the locked funds from escrow using his payment password, and the buyer receives crypto in his wallet.

Hodl Hodl key features

1. Secure: multisig (P2SH) contracts, you control the key to the funds in escrow;
2. Cheap: low fee – max 0.6% per trade (fees will only be implemented beginning July 2018);
3. Decentralized: P2P trades without KYC/AML;
4. Support of native Bech32 Segwit addresses;
5. P2SH-P2WSH Segwit multisig escrow addresses;
6. Truly global P2P cryptocurrency exchange;
7. Trade BTC and LTC;
8. We have a TESTNET version of our exchange - where you can trade with TESTNET BTC/LTC - without risking actual money.

Features we are offering with the first release of our exchange

Privacy-focused environment:

To trade on Hodl Hodl you don’t need to reveal your identity. Just sign up and you are ready to trade with complete anonymity and no restrictions.

Verification takes place on a voluntary basis - you may choose to get verified in order to receive some benefits, but it is not required.

Security:

Hodl Hodl does not hold any money (neither cryptocurrency, nor fiat currency), which increases security of your funds. Instead, we create a unique P2SH multisig escrow address on the Bitcoin or Litecoin blockchain for each trade.

P2P cryptocurrency exchange that supports Segwit:

We’ve been working hard to have Segwit enabled with our first release: we’re generating P2SH-P2WSH Segwit multisig escrow addresses for compatibility with non-segwit wallets for each contract, plus you can release or refund bitcoins from escrow to native Bech32 Segwit addresses. This means that you’ll spend less money on transaction fees.

Referral program:

As a bonus, we offer you a referral program where you’ll receive part of our exchange commission for every trade your referral participates in once we start charging an exchange fee.

You can earn up to 10% of our exchange commissions, depending on how many active traders you have referred to the exchange.

You may also reduce the exchange commission you’re paying to Hodl Hodl by referring at least one active trader. Once you’ve done this, you will receive a discounted exchange fee of 0.55% forever.

You can find more information on https://hodlhodl.com/users/referral_program and in our FAQs.

Progressive fee system:

Once we enable exchange fees there will be different exchange fee rates available:

1. An exchange fee of 0.6% is used for newly registered users.
2. An exchange fee of 0.55% is applied to referrals; users who’ve registered with Hodl Hodl using a referral code. As mentioned above, you can permanently lower your exchange fee to 0.55% by referring at least one active trader.
3. An exchange fee of 0.5% is applied to users who have passed the verification process.

Litecoin support:

Hodl Hodl also supports Litecoin with the same P2SH multisig escrow address functionality. We will apply no exchange commissions to Litecoin trades until July 2018.

Multi-language platform:

With this release, we’ll be supporting two languages: English and Russian. Our support team speaks both languages.

TESTNET version:

Before trading with real coins, we recommend you learn how to trade on Hodl Hodl exchange TESTNET. Link to TESTNET: testnet.hodlhodl.com.

The TESTNET version is identical to the MAINNET, except for one key difference: you are trading with TESTNET Bitcoins and Litecoins without risking any actual money.

Please, be aware that all trades happening on testnet.hodlhodl.com are with TESTNET Bitcoins/Litecoins. Never send any actual funds for Bitcoins/Litecoins received on testnet.hodlhodl.com.

We are opened in BETA-mode

For now, we are opened in BETA-mode until July 2018, which means a lot of new features are coming soon, but the main functionality of the exchange is ready and available now!

While we’re in BETA, we recommend you use following browsers to trade on our exchange: Chrome, Mozilla, Opera, Safari upgraded to the newest versions.

Things that we’re working on:
1. Lightning Network integration;
2. Improving the mobile version of Hodl Hodl;
3. Optimizing transaction fees;
4. Increasing security for our users;
5. Adding new cryptocurrencies to the exchange;
6. Integration with wallet providers;
7. Support for more languages;

Because we’ve launched in BETA-mode, we don’t charge any exchange fees at this point.

If you have a question, have found a bug or a mistake, faced an unclear situation, or have any suggestions we kindly ask you to inform us ASAP via our contact channels mentioned below.
