Re: London's mayor has banned 'unrealistic body images' from transport advertising

Seems perfectly reasonable to me. Public property shouldn't be displaying oversexualized and unrealistic body images, it hurts self esteem and promotes a "bikini body" culture that harms those who don't have perfect bodies (fat shaming). And even then, this is a response to massive popular backlash; I don't really see why it's a concern?

Re: [POLL] Would you rather have AIDS or Cancer ?
by

Cancer. As of now, cancer is somewhat more curable/mitigated than AIDS. AIDS essentially powers down your immune system and leaves you vulnerable to almost all diseases, meaning that you can be killed quite easily from a cold. Plus, cancer invokes sympathy from most people, while AIDS is still associated with gay sex.

Re: newbie question about sig. camp.

Just curious; what types of posts would count as spam? Like the obvious "Smiley" and "nice post" don't count as constructive, but even if a post in on topic and relevant, is there a general minimum word/character count required for it to not be considered "spam"? Or would someone in a sig. campaign just post as they normally would?

Just wondering, would would be the safest way to sell your bitcoins? Is there any platform considered universally "safe" to convert BTC in USD through Paypal, or direct deposit or something? Thank you!

Hey there! Welcome to bitcoin! There isn't really such thing as free money, nor "free" bitcoin. However, there are a few relatively easy ways of earning bitcoin on/through this forum.

1. Faucets: Low income method where you click on a "Claim" button every so often and fill a captcha for a very small amount of bitcoins. Can be a good way to earn an bit to play around with

2. PTC: Pay to click, you essentially click and watch ads for a small amount of bitcoin

3. Signature Campaigns: A bit long to explain, check out this link for info on what they are and who to apply to. Generally higher income based on member rank https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=615953.0

Re: Fucking Chinese!

As of now, a combination of currency flight from the yuan and opportunistic investors looking to pump up the price is causing bitcoin to skyrocket. Chinese demand is really a huge factor  Undecided . Anyhow, I feel that it may hit $1000, but anything beyond that may see a crash once the bubble pops. Invest at your own risk  Wink

Microlending as a way to get started?
by
AscendancyEight
on 13/06/2016, 14:52:00 UTC
So, as mentioned before, I'm relatively new to Bitcoin. I can see that the Microlending system (on this forum, at least) is pretty well set up, with a trust system + collateral and escrow. Would it be a good idea to make some bitcoin lending out very small amounts to users? I could get started with a relatively small amount and only offer loans to very trustworthy members with collateral. Would this be a relatively safe way of making a bit of money? Thank you!

What would the signature campaign require of me? I understand that I need to rank up and make constructive posts (AFAIK); are there any other requirements beyond that?

I use Windows 10 and I like it because its simple to use and understand. Almost every application or program out there is compatible with Windows, and although the iOS interface does look much prettier and aesthetically pleasing, the ubiquity of Microsoft just makes life a lot easier compared to a Mac user. Just my 2 cents Smiley

Xapo Wallet safe?
by
AscendancyEight
on 13/06/2016, 01:54:02 UTC
So, i'm just starting out and I got Xapo in order to collect some satoshi to play around with. I was wondering if Xapo is safe to use? It lets me instantly transfer money from faucets to my wallet so I don't have to "collect X amount before cashing out". I've heard that online wallets can be insecure, should I get a safer (desktop?) wallet and transfer what I collect there, or will I be fine using Xapo? Thanks!

Thanks for the advice everyone! I'll spend more time looking through the forums and learning up on Bitcoin. I'll  limit my faucets to the ones that give ~1500 satoshi once a day so I can have some to experiment/play around with. I'll look at the altcoin ones as well Smiley

So i've just started out bitcoin and I'm trying to learn how its used and etc. I've been using faucets to get some satoshi, but it seems like an inefficient process. Is it worth the time put in to explore and earn? Thanks!

Re: A German comedian could be sent to jail for insulting the Turkish president

The Muslims are always united, while the whites remain divided along political allegiances. That is how they are able to achieve whatever they want, despite consisting just 5% or 10% of the population. Look at London. Just around 15% of the population there is Muslim. And still, they got Sadiq Khan elected as the mayor of that city.

Muslims are arguably even more divided among sectarian lines. Half of the violence in the ME now is related to the Sunni/Shia rivalry. As to London, hove you not considered that Sadiq Khan was elected because people actually support what he stands for, as opposed to a small minority of Muslims that conspired to have him elected?

Re: UK EU referendum - should we come out of Nato as well ?
by
AscendancyEight
on 11/06/2016, 23:42:53 UTC
If the anglo-saxons in the future do not want to make of their island a new Atlantis, it is best to get out of NATO

The NATO should have been disbanded after the disintegration of the USSR, and the collapse of the Warsaw Pact. Right now, NATO is playing world police by invading countless third world nations, causing the death and displacement of millions of civilians. NATO member nations have become some of the worst perpetrators of human rights abuses (Turkey for example).

Supporting the bashar and his Iranians friends will always take the lead. Third world countries must be invaded and occupied because they fuck like rabbits and otherwise will invade the west and ultimately Russia. The west and Russia are in the same boat and are both exploited by third worlders to gain military tech...

I don't get your point. It is true that some of the Muslim countries discourage family planning. But toppling Bashar al Assad and replacing him with Al Nusra / ISIS is not the solution. Assad is secular, while the opposition is hardcore Islamist. The situation will worsen under their rule, and millions of Syrians will flee to the European Union and the other western nations if they come to power.

The thing is, many choices in the Middle East are between an authoritarian or theological regime. If you want to keep extremism at bay, then is most cases you have to install a dictator. If you let the people choose, they often choose a religious government that threatens western interests. We're stuck between a rock and a hard place

Re: Is Hillary Clinton Trustworthy?
by

on 11/06/2016, 23:26:29 UTC
I feel that Hillary might perhaps be trustworthy in the personal sense, as in if you told her a secret about yourself she wouldn't go tell everyone, but not in a professional sense. She's lived her entire life for politics, and she's a scripted robot that is very careful not to offend interest groups. Her promises change with political winds, as she is always out for more votes. Not very principled, but practical. Politician (and by extension, liar) at heart
