Re: ASUS B250 Mining Expert MB - 19 Cards!

Hi All,

I've seen alot of people mentioning that they have 13 GPU's up on this board, I have a question or two for those people.

I've had this board for close to 6 months while only running with 7 RX580's, its been rock solid. Today I managed to get my grubby paws on 6 1070 ti's, but, I cannot get the board to see the 13th GPU, it always comes up with the 13th slot saying that there is an error detecting the card in it (it posts but slot B12 always comes up in error state on the post screen). I've tried different risers, usb cable, gen-1 pcie modules, even swapped the cards in that slot, but, it just wont see it.

Is there a specific slot order, or, placement of the amd/nvidia cards that needs to happen for this board to see all 13 gpu's?

At the moment, I have 7 x rx 580's plugged into PCIEX16_1 and slots A01 - A06, the nvidia 1070 ti's are plugged into slots B07 - B12, I'm just wondering if there is a specific slot order for nvidia/amd that needs to be done for it to detect all 13 gpu's.

How have you guys n gals plugged you amd/nvidia gpu's into your boards to get it to detect all 13 gpus?

Any thoughts / tips would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for reading thus far.

Any possibility you may consider doing a miner for x16r?

use the command -lidag 2 and see if that fixes it.  There is an inrush of power at the DAG generation phase, and your power supply may be too sensitive to it.  By slowing the DAG generation just a bit your power supply may be able to keep up.  I had this same issue on a couple rigs and this fixed it.

Interesting, I used the "-gser 5" to achieve the same thing, I must have missed this one in the readme file.

Hi All,

I'm trying to get Claymore v10.5 to display temperature/fan speeds while mining without actually controlling the trmps/fans. Reading the readme file it looks like all I need to do is specify "-tt 1" as a parameter, this does not work for me.

I then tried "-tt 1 -tstop 85" to see if it would start monitoring the temps and display them, but, no go.

I'm currently on Adrenaline 17.12.2 driver version, is anyone else having this issue, or, am I doing something silly?

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Using 10.2 on Ubuntu 16.04 with dual mining, but quite often getting error Out Of Memory: Out of memory: Kill process 1842 (ethdcrminer64) score 0 or sacrifice chil. Any idea why? thanks

That looks like the OOM killer under linux, you need to see whats eating all your memory/swap on your box. Linux's OOM killer will nuke apps it deems uses most memory (simplistic explanation) just to keep the box running.

See here for a more in depth explanation.

You can disable it and/or increase your physical memory/swap.

Hope this helps.

Also in my experience the Win 10 would deliver 940 at those clocks with two threads.  Two threads just doesn't help in linux.  At least it didn't work for me.

Which miner are you using there on windows 10 to achieve 940H/s?

I tried a lot of options, but I cant achieve more than 860h, maybe it's because of memory hynix (with samsung memory peoples report 1000h+), I'll have to go back to SG miner. RX 580 8gb with Hynix have 970h. Cry Cry Cry

I cant get SGminer to work, it starts up but the cards don't seem to do any work (0H/s)

No, I meant the value of -h. I didnt find a solution to this problem.

Ahh, no worries, I misunderstood you there.

I tried playing with the -h settings, where -h = 1152 (default), I get:

Code:
GPU #0 algorithm ASM, -h 1152, -dmem 1 (Memory used: 4722MB)
GPU #1 algorithm ASM, -h 1152, -dmem 1 (Memory used: 4722MB)

XMR - Total Speed: 1734 H/s, Total Shares: 1, Rejected: 0, Time: 00:00
XMR: GPU0 865 H/s, GPU1 869 H/s

If I try to get claymore to use more memory, then the hash rate slows down:

Code:
GPU #0 algorithm ASM, -h 1925, -dmem 1 (Memory used: 7892MB)
GPU #1 algorithm ASM, -h 1925, -dmem 1 (Memory used: 7892MB)

XMR - Total Speed: 1697 H/s, Total Shares: 3, Rejected: 0, Time: 00:01
XMR: GPU0 847 H/s, GPU1 850 H/s

How would you work out this "sweet spot", I think I need to do some more reading on the OP...

1300/2210/970/950/1152, i try your settings, result = 680-750 h

Multiple questions incoming Smiley

(a) How are you setting your clocks for core/gpu? Are you using claymore to set clocks or are you doing it with a BIOS mod.
(b) What straps are you using, are they the default PBE "one-click" straps, and is your Samsung/Hynix/Elpida/Micron memory?
(c) What gpu's are these?

1)OverdriveNTool
2)One-click, Hynix(XFX GTR)/Elpida(XFX GTS) memory
3)XFX GTR XXX RX580 8GB(1rig) and XFX GTS RX 580 8GB(2rig)

Never heard of OverdriveNTool before and looks good.  Can you please provide a screenshot of one of your profiles ?
OverdriveNTool - https://imgur.com/a/9xeQ4
Bat file for autosettings - https://imgur.com/a/UaTu7

Looking at the image for the OverdriveNTool, it looks like you're getting 850H/s per card with those settings, but it looks like you mentioned you were getting 1152H/s above, was that a typo?

I cannot get Claymore to set my gpu/memory clocks either, for some reason they do not apply

My rig with RX570/RX580 4GB upgrade to 930-950h per card, but rig with RX580 8GB have 850H... i tried -h 1800, but no effect. Who have troubles with RX580 8GB?

I have rx-580's and I get between 830-860H/s, it was an upgrade from 780-790H/s, but I cannot hit 900+ H/s with these RX-580 8GB cards (Hynix).

Hey man, can you list down cards with Samsung memory and their memory type code on which you've tested the UberMix straps and get excellent results. I've only had the Asus Dual OC 580 and the ubermix strap is just plain garbage on it. I know i'm not alone as i've seen lots of comments from miners saying UberMix strap is shit anyway.

So let's put names to the cards where UberMix shines as you say.

The cards I have are PowerColor Red Devil RX-580 Golden Sample 8GB, according to the dash-board in HiveOS, these two have Hynix memory.

I've currently got them mining Electroneum (CryptoNight) at the following rate:

Code:
XMR - Total Speed: 1675 H/s, Total Shares: 6, Rejected: 0, Time: 00:07
XMR: GPU0 837 H/s, GPU1 838 H/s

This is with a modified bios which has the PBE one-click patch applied and then the bios modded to increase the memory clock to 2250MHz (I couldn't get the software (Claymore v11.0) to increase clocks for some reason it wouldn't apply (cclock/mclock), so had to do it in the bios)

Code:
====================    ROCm System Management Interface    ====================
================================================================================
GPU  DID    Temp     AvgPwr   SCLK     MCLK     Fan      Perf    OverDrive  ECC
  1   67df   52.0c    75.2W    1265Mhz  2250Mhz  40.0%    auto      0%       N/A
  0   67df   55.0c    78.60W   1265Mhz  2250Mhz  40.0%    auto      0%       N/A
================================================================================
====================           End of ROCm SMI Log          ====================

@Mattthev is saying he has better straps so I'm guessing I need one of those straps to improve my hash rate.

I have 2 x PowerColor Red Devil RX-580 Golden Sample 8GB cards mining Electroneum with the following speeds with v11.0

Code:
XMR - Total Speed: 1721 H/s, Total Shares: 442, Rejected: 0, Time: 17:40
XMR: GPU0 858 H/s, GPU1 863 H/s

If I'm not mistaken, I think I was getting around 780/790 H/s per card prior to the update.

BIOS moded with the following reported by rocm-smi:

Code:
====================    ROCm System Management Interface    ====================
================================================================================
GPU  DID    Temp     AvgPwr   SCLK     MCLK     Fan      Perf    OverDrive  ECC
  1   67df   54.0c    76.111W  1265Mhz  2250Mhz  40.0%    auto      0%       N/A
  0   67df   62.0c    77.182W  1265Mhz  2250Mhz  40.0%    auto      0%       N/A
================================================================================
====================           End of ROCm SMI Log          ====================

Wish I could hit the 900+ H/s mark, but I'm not sure what else I could do to improve the speeds.

Any chance of upgrading the claymorex102 version to claymore cryptonote amd gpu miner v11.0?

On a side note, is anyone mining with sgminer on hiveos? I've tried a couple settings but i just cannot get the miner to actually start mining, I get 0 H/s with sgminer on hiveos.
