Cardano invented a new POS (Proof-of-Stake) name Ouroboros. It will offer more robust features than Eth.and other protocols. So the Cardano network, purports to offer deeper functionality, while also functioning quicker and more efficiently
All that in one coin  Grin

But who knows what the future will hold. We will just have to wait and see what 2018 will bring us.

Re: Questions about Factom and Factorids

Factom has been hyped over the last weeks and got good media therefore I spend some time to get into the project. Nevertheless, I have two questions.

As I understand it, Factom is a sidechain of Bitcoin and could be hooked to Bitcoin's blockchain and it uses the Proof-of-Existence concept. What is the advantage of buying the coins called Factoids?

According to different resources the current amount of Factoids is 8,753,502. Is this the final amount and how was this "crooked" amount defined?

Hi,

Factom is a data layer for the blockchain. It’s based on the idea that Bitcoin is the most trusted immutable data store in existence, yet it’s not very useful for non-Bitcoin transactions. Factom has created a distributed, autonomous protocol to cost-effectively separate the Bitcoin blockchain from the Bitcoin cryptocurrency. That allows a business to maintain a permanent, time-stamped record of their data.

Now for the Factoids and the current amount:
According to the Factom website: The original supply of Factoids was set by the software token sale. Once the full Factom protocol is running, Factoids will be issued at a fixed rate to the servers that run the protocol.
So as you see, for now, until the protocol is completely deployed, no new Factoids will be issued.

This factoid is the token of factom, hence the abbreviation FCT.

Hope this helped.

Hi,

If you want to save bitcoins or any other coin for your kids, I would suggest keeping your keys in a hardware wallet like Nano Ledger S. I costs a few bucks, but at least your coins are save.

Here is the website:

Hi,

I am fairly new as well to the crypto's, but as you know there are a lot of coins circulating around and ofcourse there are a lot of coins that won't succeed and coins that will succeed. My suggestion would be to google as much as possible and do check out their website/projects on what they are creating. Also a lot of them have whitepapers, these are really helpful in understanding their project.
Only invest in coins/projects in which you believe.

Best potential from my point of view has to be ripple. Ripple connects banks, payment providers, digital asset exchanges and corporates via RippleNet to provide one frictionless experience to send money globally. Basically the currency addresses the need to keep money flowing freely.

There are more, but go out there and explore!

Good luck
