Just a heads up:  Calling a potato a potahtoe and reworking the language after the fact to insist it's a fruit instead of a vegetable is likely not going to impress anyone.

I figured I'd point this out to those that don't automatically associate hot air with campaign donations:
JPMorgan Chase & Co            $30,550   $15,550   $15,000
Sauce:  http://www.opensecrets.org/politicians/contrib.php?cycle=2014&cid=N00032838&type=I&newmem=N

You might remember that their CEO has a very, err, similar opinion as the Senator.

Gox's website is now offline as well, serving a blank homepage.

I wonder if we'll see a formal withdrawal of claims that the Bitcoin protocol is at fault.

The thing that delayed my recognition for so long, is the fact that these guys have so much money already - why would they need to steal more? Any credible ideas?

I can't say it applies in this case.  But, while most people seek power to do or get something else, some people just seek power.  In that case, what they can or should actually do with it is secondary.

While currency and assets aren't really power, they do serve as a proxy for it.

I haven't heard much on Coinsetter.  But, it appears they are not allowing USD deposits (or withdrawls) from US Customers.  I should probably specify that I live in the US.  Go freedom...go opportunity... yay...

How many btc are you buying? Is there anything that could be snagging from your banks end? I have used coinbase for awhile and have bought at the bottom on several occasions and never had this issue

I would rather not discuss financial details publicly.  And, no, I made sure the money was present and cleared in the account prior to attempting.

Before someone asks, I would rather not wait the month or so of back and forth it takes for them to "whitelist" me.

Aside:  I noticed CampBX has had it's USD deposits and withdrawals shut down by their bank, apparently.  Is there any place in the US where I can actually buy BTC above board?  Or, is my only option to wrangle with the Com-block exchanges?

I actually use my BTC to purchase goods.  So, Gox is out of the question.

Coinbase Pulling the Same Old Crap

Just an update since there does not seem to be a 2014 thread on the subject:  But, I just tried to buy a few BTC using Coinbase near the bottom just after Bitstamp announced their fix.  So, of course Coinbase canceled the transaction as "high risk" after the price went back up.  So, take it for what it is, more of the same...

We have general problem with bitcoin price,
Bitstamp is resolve problems with withdraw, but the price continues to fall !

https://www.bitstamp.net/article/Bitcoin-withdrawals-are-once-again-fully-automated/

Why ?

My guess?   Arbitrage is now possible between it and BTC-E.  BTC-E has been somewhat lower than Bitstamp over the past few days.

Is it just me or does Karpeles response sound an awful lot like, "I'm going to fuck with you until you fix my problems for me."?  This makes me question who is behind the DDoS...

If you are having data corruption woes, you can also try the old sync; sync; halt method.  Shutdown is supposed to run the sync on it's own after killing the non-essential processes.  But, you can evoke it at any point.

If I can get into a terminal, I typically run:
sudo sync
sudo sync
sudo shutdown -h now

I was told back in the day, the second sync was there to trigger a head park on old mechanical hard drives.  But, as far as I can tell, it just makes "double sure" that the cache is flushed to disk.  So far I have not had any trashed SD cards and have rebooted the rig about 2 dozen times, primarily for tuning.

I would assume it is aimed at upper class people, such as corporate leaders, professional investors, upper management, old money, and potentially their lackeys rather than the common folks.  If it was to be aimed at the masses, I would expect a lot of false choices dressed up in appeals to authority and security conveyed in more common, if not more folksy language.

Also notice that there are now a bunch of articles that say about the same thing that harp on a "world of intrigue" meme.  I strongly suspect some political group released talking points to the media for that effect.

Propaganda is not about informing people, regardless of what "side" it comes from.

I can't say I have more knowledge.  But, I would be tempted to solder the twisted wires together, crimp them in the terminal, and then tack soldier the exposed end near the screw.  I might use some liquid electrical tape to glue the insulation on the terminal to the wire insulation and some heat shrink or electrical tape on the insulation to help hold the terminal and braid together.  Loose wiring can be a very bad thing when dealing with high amps.

Likewise, I am not a lawyer, a doctor, an engineer, electrical or otherwise, nor the guy responsible if you damage something or yourself playing with fire, electricity, molten metal, etc...

Personally, I am wary of GHash.IO.  Something does not seem right with those folks.  There are other pools out there.
