Re: Merge Mining Scrypt Coins - Get 4 times your hash power! DOGE/LTC/DGC/CAT/42

Very interesting. Any long term users of this pool can post reviews?

Yeah, I have been using this pool for about a month, I really don't know what is so damn hard for people to understand. The guy that compares how much he got vs solo mining the coin is missing the entire point, of course you'd get more of the main-chain coins just solo mining. Your hash is split up over the main coins, like litebar only gets 2% of total hash power. The sec-chain coins like USC get 100%.

And there is no way to 'choose' a main coin, you mine them all, whether a wallet is configured or not, I would like it to have normal hash-power per coin and stuff like that but it does have a block list for all the coins (except LEAF for some reason.... I guess they haven't gotten around to adding it to the site yet). At only 380kH/s I am getting around 0.0047 btc a day, when I was solo mining DOGE I was getting about 0.0035 btc a day. So overall I am making more money than I was solo mining coins.

Sometimes it will take a very long time to get paid, like DOGE for example, I don't really know why this is but I only get paid any doge every 3-4 days, but its everything that I should have been paid throughout that time. And SPH and BUR have been set to only payout 2x per day do to too many transactions too quickly slowing up payment processing all around. The rejects have been taken care of by new code on the server side, I know get 0% rejects all around. You also get better hashrates from using the cgminer-3.7.2 by kalroth with the xIntensity settings, using this allowed me to set the gpu-threads to 2, cut the thread-concurrency to half, and increase my 350-80 kH/s to 380-420kH/s. So even if you don't use manicminer, I'd still suggest using the kalroth cgminer version for any coin, you'll get more power and there seems to be less load on the system and my card is actually 1C cooler than with just 1 thread and double the thread-concurrency.

This site is  not perfect by a long shot but I do like it, and the support is very responsive, I have emailed them several times with either problems or questions and they usually respond within a day unless it requires them to really dig into the logs.

I can say that I personally doubt that this is a scam, I seem to be getting paid what I should get paid based on the percentage of hash power that is suppose to be on each coin. If you look at it like all coins somehow get the same amount of hash then obviously you will think something is wrong because you can't understand what is actually going on. It's actually kind of sad to read all these posts by people whom I'd assume would actually know something about how cryptocoins works, but its a bunch of ignorance slapped about like gospel.

Sure the BUR, ORG, USC, FSC, are either not on an exchange or exchange for only 1 satoshi but that doesn't mean that they will -never- be on an exchange and will only ever be 1 satoshi, why not take the free coins? And LEAF is already on cryptsy, the price has bounced between 1 and 3 satoshi but doesn't mean it will always be that...

If you don't like the idea for whatever reason then you don't have to use the pool but tell people its a scam just because you can't do the math correctly is a pretty shitty move in book.

I actually like saturncoin. Even with the large pre-mine, I plan to hold on to my SAT for a good 6 months unless a reason to sell comes up and I can't ignore it.

I have been planning a coin myself for awhile now and whether this coin works out or not will be a good indicator as to how my coin will do.

Perhaps someone wants to donate me some SAT? if so my address is SSdyxbE79Mj8upSW9VynVZG7apMgaBHrqh.

Thanks (for the new coin and if you donated me anything)

I just recently started merged mining on bitparking so I had to get a groupcoin wallet, I did get the GUI version to compile. Although it seems that it was been switched to Qt4 instead of wxwidgets because that is what it linked against in the make file.

My question though is that the groupcoin wallet has downloaded all the blocks it says are on the chain but its still 44 hours behind.... so does this mean that a block hasnt been created for over 44 hours on the groupcoin chain?

couldnt coinbase.com basically do that, your btc is denominated in usd anyway, so if they issue debit cards linked to your account then whatever the USD amount you charge will just be converted to btc and taken out of your account.... I think i will email coinbase..

Yeah, please release something that is able to find blocks and doesn't crash after 5sec-1min.

lol its really not THAT bad, I compiled it on linux and it runs just fine 24 hours a day ( although I only let it run for 25 hours total and then decided it was shit, it did run the -whole- time, not restarts, about 60 million "primes" per sieving session) but i guess windows could be worse, but thats your operating system, not really the miner Wink )

On another note, as I said I would I am implementing x.pushthrough support for ReaperPrime so that it can be hooked up to the existing pools, which is hopefully drive more people to be interested in working on the source code and therefore the miner will be working correctly much quicker than if left as a solo piece of software. At least I hope thats the case, I could do all this for nothing.

When will the source be released on Gihub so the community can help improve this miner?

Well people already have the source (i do), you can get it from the cryptobro.com link earilier in this thread, I only have 1 7870 and a core2duo and I left 'reaper prime' running for 12 hours and my 7 chains (which was the highest it found) was only 0.079/hr on my core2duos alone it is at least 0.7/hr minimum lol so Id say that the jhPrimeminer performed 10x better on a dual core 2.4 ghz machine than Reaper-Prime on a 2.4 ghz dual core (2 cpu threads) AND a radeon hd 7870 lol

Any how I am going to try to add x-pushthrough support to reaper-prime,  if I can make it work with the pools out there perhaps more people will use it and make the code better/faster than it is right now.

Never mind, an old version of libblkmaker was being kept by the package manager, it works now Smiley

I was wondering why I can't use this for the beeeeer.org pool because it uses getwork just like reaper does but if i point it at the ip address of www.beeeeer.org it give me a curl error 52 unable to get work......

Anyone else tried this at all?

I am having trouble getting reaper to accept a different primecoin address. If i leave the primecoin_address setting to the default address everything runs just fine but I assume that I wont be getting paid if i were to find any blocks.

The libblkmaker i have installed is the one that was patched for primecoin so I dont know why it will not accept my primecoin address but will the other one....

Re: [XPM] Why Primecoin Price Has Bottomed Out
by

Pretty sure that the GPU miner for Primecoin won't be any faster. It's finding prime numbers, using basic arithmetic. This is what CPUs excel at.

That's still theory, Litecoin at the beginning also was thought to be exclusive to CPU only.
Well, I really don't see how a GPU would possibly be faster at that type of math, but OK.

Its really not about doing the same type of math "faster" as it is about the fact that a GPU has around 1200 processors on it while a normal cpu as 2-8 (perhaps 4 - 16 if you count hyperthreading), so if the code can be ported to a gpu it can run (in theory) 1200 tries in parallel vs 1-7 (or 3-15, for a cpu using OpenCL commands once of the processors acts as the 'host' the rest act as the 'device' and the host coordinates the tasks for the device, with a gpu card the processor needs to only use one core to tell the gpu's 1200 or so processors what to do. The speed up should come from the greater number of threads being run at the same time. of course there are a lot of optimizations that could be done to that code to potentially make it run faster as well.

Re: 7990 Tahiti setup / voltage?
by

what exactly does the -g flag do?  I can't seem to find it in the --help

again with your settings my display driver crashes, but if i set it to g1 then it goes just fine but only at about 550khash

with my settings g1/g2 didn't seem to make any difference  (edit) before it didn't that is ...  now with the 13.8 driver g1 crashes my setings, but g2 works

so for now with 13.8- your settings g1 works g2 crashes, my settings g1 crashes g2 works

The -g setting is how many gpu threads to start, if you have only 1 gpu then -g1 with a TC of 64 * bit-width (or slightly less for me) or -g 2 with TC of (64 * bit-wdith) / 2 should be used, if you have a 7990 then -g 2 would be best, there is probably better settings but if i got a 7990 i would first try -g 2 and --thread-concurrency 16384 (i think the bit-width of 7990 is 256, i could be wrong though).

so if i run it with g2 in the command line but i have gpu-threads 1 in my conf file, which one take priority?

i should probably go change that...   Smiley
honestly I don't know but i would think that the command line args should supercede the config file args, at least thats how i would write it, so incase you forget you have something in config files you forgot about it would be overridden with whatever you have in command line as you must want that argument you set in the command line to be active since you typed it there while config files can be old...

but again just a guess.

I was almost convinced to donate to this effort but luckily (for me anyhow) things started to look bad soon enough to ward me off. I thought this would happen for quiet some time. I wonder if it was ever the same person from the other miner or if it was just a scam from the beginning. There has been plenty of discussion into whether he actually owes anyone anything and he doesnt (at least in my mind) due to the fact that all payments were donations but if he ever was really working on this he would have stated what the problem was. Even if he gave up I'd think he would at least say something about this. He's just gone as it seems.

Any chance of a basic API, perhaps one that outputs JSON? I'd like to build some sort of basic monitoring because at the moment the only way to check how a miners doing is by ssh'ing to the system and checking the output logs. It becomes somewhat tricky with so many miners!

Also, I tried the Linux 64-bit rde beta 3 posted a page or two back and I see this error message:

./jhprimeminer: error while loading shared libraries: libgmpxx.so.4: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

Am I missing a package or something? I'm on Ubuntu 64-bit.

Yeah you are missing the GMP library, its a math library. libgmp-dev for ubuntu gmp for gentoo/portage based builds.

I caught the miner working its way to the Primordial Multiplier error, see image below:

http://i.imgur.com/rWJQnBt.png

In addition, every time I find a share, I disconnect from the pool. Very annoying. Anyone have an idea what could be causing this?

Not sure if this anything to do with the error but it does for me, using the linux/*nix sources built myself if I start doing a bunch of other stuff like compiling programs at the same time jhPrimeminer is running then this error starts and I have to restart jhPrimeminer to continue mining else it just stays at new Primorial Multiplier 2.

anyone else get -worse- performance on 64bit linux by compiling the sources yourself for linux? If i compile the source and run the linux ELF binary i get about 4500 pps, if I run version 7.1 (need to update so i get the right share value shown though) through 64-bit wine I get about 7200 pps.... although with the linux version it actually takes about 5 minutes to "auto-configure" the sieving while the windows version doesn't say anything about this to me, that is the configuring part, it does say that auto-config is on.

Just curious...

That's true, But with that wage you have quite the responsibility to deliver a product.

Automotive Service Technicians - The people who fix your cars.

Not trying to be a dick here but my dad is an "Automotive Service Technician" and makes about $45/hr, not 8.95 which is Oregon's minimum wage.... not sure where you get this info from but no one at any shop my dad has worked for was paid minimum wage.

I first have to say I'm not familiar with what's going on with the GPU miner.

I'm just curious whether the developer may do a partial/full refund if the project doesn't produce a useful miner.

lol lol, why would he do that? they were DONATIONS, if he couldn't do it that doesnt change the fact that you DONATED money for him to try. There was no guarantee that you will get anything for paying, and if you did get anything, everyone would be getting in shortly thereafter. I chose to wait and see if he lived up to his deadlines. he didnt... many times... if this was the first or second hang up i might have some faith that this is still coming out soon but he goes missing quite often.. His last post stated that he was basically done, 1 or 2 days more work and beta would be out, big surprise that didn't happen.

You should double your order. Then you could mine twice as many bitcoins with the equipment you don't have

lol, I was about to pre-order a single 5GH/s unit from BFL about 4 months ago because it was only $274 and my video card was $300 (the one I wanted to buy at least) and I thought long and hard about which would be the better option and i came to the conclusion that I could either pay $300 for a GPU that is useful for more than just mining or pay $274 for a pre-order unit that only mines sha-256 coins and has a moving expected ship date. This is was pretty simple choice at that point for the video card. If I could have ordered the ASIC and have it shipped in a week or two then I probably would have done that before buying a gpu but now I am thanking the sweet lord Jesus H Christ that I didn't go for BFL rigs.

Thats what they are, rigged.  Smiley
