I consider bull run is starting if I notice most of the coins in the marketplace were able to gain bigger increase compared to what has been happening right now. That needs enough time to develop a better demand, and only one thing that could trigger more buyers to buy and hold crypto coins was they're relying on the top btc price. Ethereum price also will follow once btc is generating more profit and become so expensive.
Year 2018 seems to have the most prolonged dip from what i have seen so far. Some people had serious loss along the line; some vowed never to invest in cryptocurrency again; some sold all their assets and left.

it depends on the crypto community especially the investors, If they believe that a hard fork of Ethereum will help to boost them in the future then they will tend to invest Ethereum as preparation of bullish time that soon to happen.I wonder what is the main reason why did the ethereum is on bull run? I think mid January is the time when bearish market will come to an end and before that i will surely buy more Altcoins because it's more profitable to buy before bull run rather waiting for the bullish market confirmation and i might be wrong but there is always risk involved.what coins do you think will be good in 2019. Market cap is falling without brakes, and today some whaleshave transfered thousands of eth to exchanges (some of them, are big whales that acumulated eths from since their price was few cents).
When this whales sell their eth for some million dollars the falling will be tremendous.

At present the cryptocurrency is in a falling state and in order to recover requires a long time, I think in 2019 the market has not been able to recover properly, but in 2020 the cryptocurrency will be like 2017.
Less than 1 year the price has fallen very quickly, why are you not sure that prices will rise quickly in no less than 1 year? Definitely I really want to buy Ethereum no other else, I believe that even though it is suffered too much from the current dip but it will surely resurrect from falling because ETH is already molding a large community to support their project and many different projects using their technology as well that make them ahead from other altcoins.We'll be stepping into 2019 in less than 3 weeks.

I think the news about Ethereum will not help to revive the situation unless it will solely be applied if there is a truly developed for the improvement of the system because they must convince the crypto community that the ETH team continues working for the better blockchain technology.Re: If all altcoins die, only Bitcoin is left, will it rise X100?
Yes obviously because there is no other coin to use in buying or paying something so naturally the demand will be soaring high and the supply is limited but that is too difficult because altcoins and Bitcoin are correlated to each other.
Riak will recover in the near future, rest assured that Ripple will not just give up. Ripple is a good and trustworthy coin, so we don't need to worry about Ripple anymore. Of course it will return to normal again
Ripple is a centralized coin so there is no doubt that it can recover if the one who controlled it will want to go up the price again, it is not a good coin to invest because it will surely not pumping the way like another top coin pump. No doubt if ETH will reach at 50$ then I will buy the best of it, I will take the opportunity in which a very rare case to happen in crypto, there is no need to research, it is proven that ETH is a reliable coin.
I think it takes more time to be like as it was if we talk last 2017 all-time high, many factors to be considered before it goes along the good side of crypto but there is always a possibility.
