[REQUEST] A Comprehensive and Easy to Follow Guide on How to Connect to P2P Node
by

With all the frenzy about GHASH and the decentralization of bitcoin I would like a little help with connecting to a p2p node. I am currently connected to slush's via a mining proxy because my miner only supports getwork protocol. My main question is do p2p nodes (list: http://p2pool-nodes.info/) accept information from the getwork protocol or will I have to set up my proxy to communicate with the node? The node I have in mind is http://50.150.117.139:9332/static/ (with various backup nodes), because of the good latency. My other question is how will I know when I am actually receiving payouts?

I also posted on reddit/r/bitcoin with no help Sad http://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/1uv96m/request_a_comprehensive_and_easy_to_follow_guide/

Thanks for the help in advance!

Now the pool is broken. Are their servers down?

Does anyone else need #21298 recalculated? It is showing about 66% low.

No but 21310 I got 0 for some reason. The pool has been strange lately and I am considering joining Eligius.

Haha no I wish but I did find out about it on reddit. I like it enough that I think I owe it to the developers to get the name out.

I know Ghash is kind of a joke but I have a couple dollars in virtual mining just to try it out. I opened an account with an awesome service called minectrl, check it out: https://minectrl.com, but I wanted to add my Ghash pool to my stats (I mainly use slush's pool). Is there any way to generate an API for Ghash.io?

I ordered a ASIC Blade a couple weeks ago and it was working spectacularly!... Until today. When I plug the power adapter in nothing happens, the LEDs on the chip don't even go on. I am pretty sure the adapter and the cables are still fine. Anyone know a solution to this problem? I am using an adapted 4 pin ATX connector from my PSU to power the blade.

Why is your proxy saying you are accepting shares at difficulty 1? I just set up my blade and my proxy defaults to difficulty 9. I am getting 11 Ghash ATM.

I have been going through Dogie's guide and Slush's guide on how to use the server but I am not having any luck.

Its interesting that 11 of the 13 largest companies in the world are Chinese banks. They are fearful of the success of bitcoin.

Just curious then,

Where do you see bitcoins in the next 2 years?

and

What is going to happen to the other currencies such as NMC and LTC?

If you can count on getting into mining within the next week I believe it will pay off. The sooner the better. Its more about the investment into bitcoin than paying off what you spent getting into it. Depending on where bitcoin is in 2 years will determine if you made money or not. All in all, this late into the game no one really knows how profitable mining will be. It all depends on where the value of the coins goes.

Essentially its a decentralized version of where CEX.IO is doing. It would be more fair, though, because short term prices could be negotiated. Do you have any hashrate you are willing to sell?

It is still nearly 3 times more profitable than buying those ASIC erupter usbs :p I see it as not a way to make money but an easy way to get into the bitcoin hobby. You don't need any experience or knowledge of computer things to get into mining.

you run the chance that GHS goes down

someone made a cex.io calculator: http://www.ltcinstawallet.com/cexio-reinvest/ - the profits hit a limit

So lets say I bought .01 BTC for GHS on CEX.IO. At the current rate of .075 BTC/GHS I would get .133 GHS or 133 MHASH. What time period would I get that hash rate for?
