Awesome job Diablo...I can't wait to see what the end results are.

I just moved over to your miner after GUIMiner went down and cgminer simply wasn't performing.  I'm happy with the performance on my current setup, but am closely following your progress as I have plans for GCN miners in the near future.

I've spend enough time in this Newbie prision....I don't think I could take another 3 hours.

5 x 6950's unlocked
3 x 6950's

3,025 MHash/hour.

I just recently got into mining as well.  I bought 3 x Radeon 6950's on Craigslist for $450 and with an additional $450 in hardware I have a machine mining at 1050 Mhash/sec consuming 470w of power.  It was enough to get me going and while it will be a while until any profit comes out of the machine, it's still fun to participate.

I would recommend checking your power rates before making any decisions.  The rate you mentioned is very high.  I pay $0.105/KWh...that includes electricity, delivery costs, taxes and anything else that may get added on.

I am new to Bitcoin mining as well.  I was using GUIMiner until a couple days ago when it stopped working.  Since then I've tried cgminer and DiabloMiner.  CGMiner was pretty slow for me and no matter what settings I tried I couldn't get it to perform as well as GUIMiner.  Last night I switched over to DiabloMiner and I am very happy with the performance.

I read an article about it a few weeks ago and thought I'd give it a try to see how the whole system worked.  Of course my GTX 580's weren't very good miners.  They went to eBay and I now have some ATI cards mining away.  I did have to sacrifice some gaming performance, but it's worth it so far.

Re: 6870 and 5970 on 750 Watt PSU?

You shouldn't have an issue.  Do you own a Kill-a-watt unit (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16882715001)?  If not I would suggest purchasing one.  It makes tweaking your system to draw less power much easier.

I have 3 x unlocked 6950's generating 1050 Mhash/sec and the whole system is drawing 460w.
