Electricity cost at a fixed % of mining proceeds
by
BTCetera
on 23/01/2018, 19:53:23 UTC
I have a situation where the eletricity cost (and all other expenses, rent, security, cooling, etc) are a flat 15% of the mining proceeds.

A) I will mine only GPU algos.

B) Only concerns for hardware pick is hashrate/$. I obviously do not care how efficient the card is, from an economic standpoint. I will buy cards from a distributor in China and resell them to home miners after we get 2 or 3x ROI.

C) I will use Nicehash (or an alternative), with the occasional manual switch to another pool/algo.

D) I will not reinvest profits into HW too much. On the other hand, I am ok with keeping the mined coins - I don't need to sell them for income.

In your opinion:

1) Because of B, what would be some of the better HW choices?

2) If we run something like 20 cards, is C still a good choice or after a certain amount of hash rate you are better off sticking to one coin for longer periods of time?

3) Especially in light of D, would it be best to just mine some solid coins instead of the most profitable crap coin of the week?

4) What is your avg power cost as a % of mining proceeds? It is relevant to indicate state or country + residential or industrial rates.

Finally, would you take this deal?

Good question, it is not dumb at all!

Both cool wallets and multisig wallets use (usually) the same Shamir's algorithm, so they are not different in the core, except in the use case, just as different coins use the same blockchain technology to provide different services.

The purpose of this project is to create tools (even embeddable libraries) that allow common users to secure his / her funds easily, so the tool will be designed to be as simple as possible, using familiar vocabulary over technical or theoretical terms, to promote higher adoption.

We're considering the design an interface that the user can use to get Wallet parts from QR codes and the application will be designed to hold the recovered key in RAM memory, and use it with different wallets, so the user will not need internet or online portals to produce and open his wallet. We will probably have to cooperate with developers of different wallets.

The purpose is one: Higher adoption of better security standards for users of cryptocurrencies, and higher options to produce the idea cool storage wallets, by his own risk tolerance and requirements.

so the TLDR is: you are making multisig wallets easier to use and be developed upon. Right?

Why would someone use chronologic when there is opentimestamps.org? Thx.

This is actually a very valid question. Would anyone from the team mind answering it?

That was my 2nd attempt at an answer...

This is simply not comparable, and not the same project, you are welcome to come in our slack tho, if you really seek more infos, and deeper answers on questions like that.

That is a very simplistic answer to a not simple question. Why don't you start by showing how they are different instead of telling us to seek answers elsewhere?

You'd expect the Chronologic team to be ready to defend their coin, instead of telling ppl to go seek answers elsewhere. At this point I have no desire to join your slack. I will ask Peter Todd for this answer and post it here.

I'm still thinking about real user cases.
As the given ones do not convince me.
It would be more interesting to pay for charges in time critical scenarios,
Like e.g. to avoid high penalties from law through the ability to
buy more time to answer on a court letter or something like this, if you are on vacancy.

looking fwd to their reply. teams that dont address critiques worry me.

Time is the most valuable “asset” for humans,
yet most of mankind measures an individual’s wealth by the amount of resources the person has been able to accumulate,
often ignoring the amount of time sacrificed in exchange for these transient resources.

Why would someone use chronologic when there is opentimestamps.org? Thx.

A Myriadcoin inova porque é a 1a coin a incluir 5 algoritmos de proof of work: SHA256D (bom para ASICs), Scrypt (como Litecoin e outros), Qubit, Skein or Groestl.

http://www.myriadcoin.org/

Especificações
SEM PREMINE
Proof of Work:
Recompensa do bloco inicial: 1000 MYR
P2P port: 10888
RPC port: 10889
Arquivo de configuração: myriadcoin.conf

How it works

Quote
listen=1
maxconnections=32
rpcuser=my_user_name
rpcpassword=my_pasword
server=1
rpcallowip=192.168.0.*
addnode=85.195.118.163
algo=sha256d

Quote
gen=1
genproclimit=-1

ou digite no debug console da wallet:

Quote
setgenerate true -1

Exchange Ready
I am working with http://cryptorush.in to be on an exchange the minute this coin goes live. If I have to pay the listing fee out of my own pocket so be it.

If the dev decide to use X11, it will be a great idea.

X11 + no premine + new random diff !

In total, these will make Randomcoin a nice coin.

Still thinking about CryptoRush? Yikes! That's where coins go to die.

X11 sounds like the best option at this time!
