Heya Bruno, Rassah!
Lovely talking to you guys again, and thanks so much for all the work over the years! I've always loved Bitcoin100, and I feel and felt like I can trust you guys completely, whether Bitcoin is at $7 or $700!

I kind of missed the first PM you sent (iirc tried to change my password, had to wait 45 seconds, got distracted), but was sufficiently roused by the second one d:

Okay, let me brush the dust off of my nearly 5 year old GPG key... Boom! There we go! That's me right there: bitcoin-otc.com/viewratingdetail.php?nick=Mqrius

(I'm also happy to do more mundane forms of verification, such as skyping/sending ID/etc, if that would be deemed welcome! I could technically even sign with one of the donation addresses, but that would be a lot of hassle since I don't have those wallets active anywhere atm)

Anyways, here's my address for the remittance:
1AY4iGVFSAtFdmxvYtDTdKJwV7S3iVq9pw

Cheers! <3

Re: [ANN] Physical Bitcoin Gift Cards available for Pre-Order (USA - Free Shipping)

[Massive necro warning]

I found 3 of these cards in my old mail. I had some trouble redeeming them. Here is some info for anyone stumbling across this post.

The mini private keys on these cards are not well formed. This means that most places can't import them as is.
Even though they are not well formed, you can still take the SHA256 of them, and they still make a valid private key.
On ubuntu, I did that via this command:
Code:
echo -n "S12345678901234567890123456789" | shasum -a 256
The result should be usable by any app. I used armory, but blockchain.info should work as well.

Funnily enough, only 2 of the 3 cards actually contained an untouched coin. The third had once had 4 satoshi on the address, which has since been removed. I have no flipping clue why, but I'll be making a Bitpay support request to get my last coin Cheesy

Casascius fysieke Bitcoins (2012 series: 1 BTC, 5 BTC, 10 BTC)
by
BTCurious
on 27/11/2013, 14:32:45 UTC

Inclusief plastic capsule.
35 BTC per stuk.

Gratis afhalen of verzenden. Betaling in Bitcoin of in Nederlandse of Europese bankoverschrijving.

Re: Sudden rise in Bitcoin transaction numbers - any theories why?
by
BTCurious
on 14/08/2013, 08:04:04 UTC
Simple: The stability.

Stability makes Bitcoin not look like a Ponzi-scheme. Stability makes Bitcoin look like a viable currency. Stability reduces the chance of monetary loss.

As a result, more amounts of Bitcoins are being bought from many more different people, and spent.
So yeah, stability makes the price rise, destroying stability Cheesy

Love the look of those 25s as well. Really classy.
Personally, they're not my favorite. I prefer the look of the 1000 BTC gold coin, but I never bought one Tongue

Now, those are two sexy pictures!
Thanks ^_^

I've sold nearly all of the coins in that picture. I've got 1 silver left that I'm not selling, and none of the original series coins. I've got a number of series 2 still though, and a few 5BTC coins. All in a bank safe nowadays, since these things are so expensive Cheesy

The only coins in that picture that didn't significantly increase in value...

...are the Euro coins for size comparison Tongue

Re: Bitcoin Conference Europe 2013
by

I wanted to gauge the price that people would be willing to pay to attend the conference:

I'm trying to make this conference as transparent as possible (while still making it economically sound for the team), so I wanted to pitch the question to you guys:

The one in San Jose was 2.5BTC or $250 if I recall correctly. Understandably, your budget would be dependant on the calibre of speakers. Assuming they were prominent and could add some value to you, would you be willing to pay this amount or should it be higher/lower?

M
To give one answer to this question: I expect this conference to be on a smaller scale than the one in San Jose, which means it would also be a lower price.
Note that the San Jose conference also had a lot of sponsoring going on, so if you don't manage to get some of that, I think you'll run into trouble collecting enough funds.

Good luck organising it! I'll be attending if you manage to pull it off!

Generations of Hope has used BitPay to start accepting Bitcoins: http://www.generationsofhope.org/donate/

Let me know if I can provide any more information.  I am sure they would be excited to see some actual Bitcoin donations.

Dan

How did they come to accept it?

I think all of the press about Bitcoin during the rally pushed them over the edge.  The Director heard several pieces on Bitcoin on NPR.

They used BitPay for the implementation, and put a big logo on the Donate page.  As with most nonprofits, you can get to the donate page from almost anywhere on the site.

Now, hopefully it pays off for them Wink

Dan

I think it should. Any objections?
I say go for it Smiley

Nice meeting you on the conference by the way, Rassah!
