Shitloads of redundant text.

Hello,

I am running cgminer 3.7.2 on Mac Book Pro Mac OSX 10.5 and get following error "dyld: unknown required load command 0x80000022 Trace/BPT Trap".
I know its an old version of Mac machine but its lying unused and want to start GPU mining with this.

Help appreciated.

Kamyb

Lol at articles getting so desperate they will take news right out of forums... even if it's not confirmed

It's fucking sad...and increasingly the case with all journalism in general, particularly in the USA.

Anyone can write some racist/sexist/intolerant bullshit on an Applebee's receipt and post it on reddit.
Next thing you know, Good Morning America presents it as fact without, you know, knowing all of the fucking facts.

If it/they can mine bitcoins, then it/they can mine any other coin based on SHA-256. (i.e. PPCoin, Zetacoin, etc.)  You determine which coin based on your miner's config (software).  The hardware don't care.

Re: 13.4 WHQL Drivers - What did they do for you?
by

on 26/05/2013, 20:25:47 UTC
13.4 caused my BFGminer to immediately crash upon startup regardless of which version I used, and the problem to persist even if I tried to reinstall 13.1. As it turns out, it corrupts the OpenCL, and forced me
to find a pretty cumbersome solution* to the problem.
*corrected link   Wink

EDIT:

Fixed. I am leaving this here for those who end up having my issue.

-Uninstall all ATI software.
-Restart.
-Create a batch file with the following and run it:

@C:
@cd C:\Windows\System32
del SlotMaximizerAg.dll
del SlotMaximizerBe.dll
del amdocl64.dll
del OpenCL.dll
del OpenVideo64.dll
del OVDecode64.dll
@Cd C:\Windows\SysWOW64
del SlotMaximizerAg.dll
Del SlotMaximizerBe.dll
del amdocl.dll
del OpenCL.dll
del OpenVideo.dll
del OVDecode.dll
@rmdir C:\ProgramData\AMD\KDB /S /Q

-Reinstall ATI 13.1 drivers.

Does this fix work for cgminer as well?  I had the same exact issue when I tried upgrading/switching drivers.  I'm guessing that the answer is yes, since BFGminer is built from cgminer code?

The only rule U should respect:
NEVER touch a WORKING system

I'm mining with CGgminer 2.11.4 + 13.1 drivers, and everything is working good, so no update for me Wink

I agree!  I tried 13.1 and 13.4 last night; both introduced all kinds of problems/weirdness in my setup.  The most stable combination for me has been cgminer 3.1.1 + Catalyst 12.8.

'If it ain't broke, fix it until it is.'  →  official motto of the United States government, not a Bitcoin miner.

Sounds 5s 640M / avg 651 Mh/s right speed to radeon 7970?
That's better.  That's what you should get with an HD 7970 when mining SHA-256.
Mine averages around 659Mh/s; it's clocked at 1100MHz GPU / 1425MHz RAM.

Re: Isn't solo mining better for the Bitcoin network?
by
BadPenny
on 13/05/2013, 21:39:12 UTC
Solo mining is best for the the network if you keep up with the software updates and you have the time to do your own fee policy. Most people don't want to bother with that, they're ok to delegate that power to others.
Staying up-to-date can sometimes be a bad thing:

Hello everyone,

there is an emergency right now: the block chain has split between 0.7+earlier and 0.8 nodes. I'll explain the reasons in a minute, but this is what you need to know now:
  • After a discussion on #bitcoin-dev, it seems trying to get everyone on the old chain again is the least risky solution.
  • If you're a miner, please do not mine on 0.8 code. Stop, or switch back to 0.7. BTCGuild* is switching to 0.7, so the old chain will get a majority hash rate soon.
  • If you're a merchant: please stop processing transactions until the chains converge.
  • If you're on 0.7 or older, the client will likely tell you that you need to upgrade. Do not follow this advise - the warning should go away as soon as the old chain catches up.
  • If you are not a merchant or a miner, don't worry.

*not a solo miner.

Cranking the GPU clock to 1100(+10%) gets me about 660 Mh/s(+10%), but anytime I try to underclock the GPU RAM, the system hard locks upon startup of cgminer.  It does this with v2.10.2 & v3.1.0.
When using --gpu commands/arguments in cgminer.bat, should one enable or disable Graphics OverDrive in the AMD Catalyst Control Center?

PRO TIP: Some cards have these stupid aluminum trim disks stuck to the center of the fans.  They look nice, but REMOVE THEM BEFORE INSTALLING THE CARD.  One of mine came loose and got stuck in the fan/shroud, stopping that fan entirely.  I only discovered it after noticing my GPU temp was at 96°C!  Shocked  I shut down the system, dislodged it, then removed the other one (which was intact) so that it could not repeat the problem in future.  Had it been a single-fan card, it could have really overheated in a very short time, possibly killing the card/starting a fire/ending the world.

Well i've been referring to scrypt mining i.e LTC - So if you got 700Mh/s SHA-256, you should get 700Kh/s scrypt, if you get what i mean.

What are you current settings for GPU/Memory clocks and voltages (the stocks if that's what your using) and cgminer settings for each card?
OK, I understand now.  I've never dabbled in scrypt/LTC.

Catalyst Control Center → GPU: 1000, RAM: 1425, auto fan
The only command I use in cgminer is -I 9

Well you should be able to get at least 700Kh/s with that card.

What voltage are you running? That temp seems a bit high for only 600 Kh/s
Don't you mean Mh/s?  I'm running it stock.  I'm afraid of tweaking it, for fear of making it unstable.  I would love to get 700Mh/s, though.

I've got a Black Edition HD7970 that churns out ~600Mh/s non-stop @ 79°C.  (Win7 x64, 850W PSU, Catalyst 13.1, cgminer 2.10.2, Bitcoin)
