You miss the fact, that Ethereum had much more devs than other 3 project. For me ETH is still the future of smart contract.

ETH definitely has the advantage that they are in the leading position for smart contracts and ICOs at the moment.
So as long as other projects don't do thing significantly better than ETH they will not overtake it.

But there are much fewer ICO now. Will that affect the adoption of ETH?

That's true nobody knows how bad situation would be in future actually majority of the people were not ready for this kind of situation. Last time I bought some coin around $200 range and than suddenly the whole situation turned into nightmare so let's see how long this trend will continue.

The last price spike is caused by the ICO, so more usage. Next price rise will also happen when there are more usages.

What gets me is he asked before the fork if anyone new of testing pools myself and a few others gave pools to test and here still nothing

It's probably because the crypto prices fell further and he figures there won't be much demand for his software.

I've tried the alternate miners and they are a little different but they work at least. However with the recent price slump I just shut everything down together. And I am sure others have also.

I shut down most rigs and leave some to heat my house.

I've been mining for a few years and only down to my most efficient GPUs which are the RX series and they are heavily undervolted and heavily underclocked and they turn a profit but very little. At this point I am just hodl'ing the ETH until the issuance reduction in January and then going to most likely package up the GPUs and sell them in a year or so when the second hand prices of the GPUs start to rise.

There is also the chance that there might be some crazy FOMO and ETH might go to $1000 very quickly and the profits of $1-2 per day per GPU will be back but I am not counting on it happening soon.

Its not worth mining for 10 cents a day, rather just power off the GPUs.

I have similar GPU. But my electricity price is about $0.18/Kwh. I mine at loss now, just use the heat to warm my room.

From what I heard from the developers. This newer algo will use a little more electricity and produce less hashrate as before.

It will make ASICs obsolete and will make FGPA more on par with GPUs.

Will that make CPU faster and GPU relative slower? If so, it is good for botnet.

With trade war with US, Chinese government is in big trouble, they are seeking different ways to get out, thus may have weird policies in place to play with.

Hope they will adopt the bitcoin to compete with US.

Looked at the ETH charts this morning and I said "Yikes!" how low will it go.

I remember a few of my buddies "loaded" up on ETH when it went to $1000 earlier this year. I told them, buy BTC instead but they never listened.

At this rate it seems that even $100 ETH is very possible, and if it ever reaches that price it will be a great deal. However no idea if it will end up recovering when in less than a year it goes from $1400 all the way down to $100. Its already lost 80% of its value from the ATH. Many people are getting very depressed with their investment for ETH.

When ICO comes back to like, the demand for ETH could rise again, hence the price.

I am starting to think that this project will not fork to dump ASICs power.... pity......

What if in an alternative universe some big ASIC company offered a few machines to the developers of a coin?
I alwasy heard that money buys everything....
Will developers accept asics anf forget the fork...
this is just a though to an alternative universe, not this universe....

I thought the forking is on the agenda?

oh, i got out with profit, i didnt wait in here all along, so i have a profit, and i want to make profit again, whats the point if no profit, then its better to do nothing...

From ROI or from the market? I made about 0.1BTC profit from the s7 market.

Trading is quite risky. You might not win in the long term.

I am bullish on Ethereum because it has become the stepping stone for other platforms that require a blockchain-hedged currency
I've stocked up a lot on Ethereum , I also hold a lot of Lisk, which solves some of Ethereums problems buy incorporating side chains not sure if that will ever take off though =)

Instead of lisk why don't you hold the EOS because many people are suggesting EOS will become another coin that will gain popularity in the industry. Even with their block chain there is no compete for EOS yet.
Ummmmm, They said that EOS has been gained a huge popularity becomes a centralized buggy blockchain. You are speaking a crap about EOS.

So many vulnerabilities of EOS just the matter of time until next vulnerabilities will be discovered. No one interested to hold the buggy blockchain token with centralized system that can be used to block anyone's account.

The EOS is controlled by 21 super nodes. It is also quite vulnerable.

hold your altcoin and your bitcoin in your local wallet, and open your wallet in the end of this year
because the best strategy in investments of crypto is forget it for a while then open your wallet when the price explode
i believe in the end of this year the price will explode harder

Only hold good coins/altcoins like Bitcoin, Bitcoin cash or ETH.

Cardano - Completely useless, overvalued, having 0 transactions in the block

So why the market cap is so high at the moment?

I think just hold your bitcoin wait until the price will increase this cryptocurrency needs more patient so that you can earn much higher than your investment.

That is a good suggestion. You might also want to convert some bitcoin into bitcoin cash.

There may be 5-6 place changes on the list..
because there will be successful new projects this year..
The projects I expected to fall down are:
-Bitcoin Gold (BTG) : I do not understand why you're here.
-Binance Coin (BNB) : This year will be the new competitors.
-Zcash (ZEC) : Could not develop the technology.

Why do you include the ZEC? The developers got 20% of the mined coins to develop it.

ETH/BTC falling day by day, when ETH will again start to raise....

I think the day will come when the mining profit is almost zero, then AMD/nVdia will pump it.

Many many people say they are holding this, holding that for the "long term" but please tell me what exactly is your guys definition of "long term"?
For me, 1 year is considered long time. I began investing this January and I will hold one year and cash out everything January 2019. So by your definition, is this more short term or long term? Is 1 year enough time to see gains?  Huh

I think holding for one year is very short term. I have hold the bitcoin, litecoin for more than 5 years.

There is a problem with the wallet etc - below the address bar of departure appeared fixed address unknown whose - when sending it is inserted into the recipient. Someone faced? The problem arose today.
what wallet are you using? Try the light wallets like Jaxx. I use it more then one year and had no issues with them. You can also store there many other coins. Really cool options

Hi, assistance is needed on the Ethereum Wallet 0.9.2.  I download "Ethereum Wallet for Windows 32 bits (requires command line tools)." I tried to contact Github for some info on my concern but I got an email stating "this address is for GitHub support. We don't have any services which match what you're asking about." My concern was after the download, nothing followed.  The file stayed in downloads directory.  I manually unzipped the Mist-Win32-0-9-2 file.  Couldn't see executable file.  I thought that the written "(requires command line tools)" will be provided after the download but nothing happened. Thanks in advance for the help.

I agree, personally use Jaxx too, for me it is faster and can store more coins too, rather than just the one

where are stored the coins ? on the mobile phone ?

you do have the private key in this case

and what if you loose your phone ?

You can use wifi or blue tooth to transfer data.

I like XMR and Zcash
XMR because its easy to understand. and has maximum use case and potential https://www.coingecko.com/en/price_charts/monero/usd

I think so. They are old and tested.
