Have fun being perpetually stuck below 7.4 for the foreseeable future. 5k here we come!

Edit: based on how few people downvoted, I’m guessing there are others who feel similar. Bitcoin is dying a slow death regardless of how many of you post “to the moon!”

I'm thankful for the huge difference between your imagination and reality.

Actually my observation is based more in reality than your naive optimism

My naive optimism? Clearly you're either new to crypto or you're oblivious to how much it's grown over the past few years. Exchanges, partnerships, and a rapidly growing number of very large organizations biting at each others heals to be the first to secure an ETF. If you're only looking at the price of Bitcoin, you need to crack your shell and get informed.

looks like BCH was the chosen alt for this latest pump and dump

No just an IPO rumor. Amazing how easy it is to get people to do no research and gamble on the worst alt coin. It’s just going to hurt these poor people when it’s creator is exposed. They are obsessed with the whole idea of owning a full coin which means nothing. It could be Ver’s shit or anything, they don’t care about the technology which why the SEC and ETF’s need to stay away till the next generation grows up and understands the technology that if a shit Bcash would ever get an IPO...... it mind numbing the stupidity in this market.

Just keep using these gains to obtain more bitcoin and your set. Use their ignorance to your benefit to gain more bitcoin.

It honestly wouldn’t surprise me. This twitter post doesn’t have much evidence behind it. But other exchange coins did not perform similarly well during this year’s bear market (KuCoin Shares dropped from $20 to $1, for example). And there is no way BNB prices are resilient to cashing out to tether in a way that no other coin is immune.

Crash, don't crash. Noodles, don't noodles. Irrelevant questions. What's the state of Bitcoin usage today? Ironically high considering the reality. I'm in the middle of trying to send a Bitcoin transaction that would have cost me $.04 to send, but would have taken approximately 50 minutes to confirm. Instead, I chose to send it with high priority, costing me $.55, and supposedly confirming in approximately 20 minutes. That was 45 minutes ago. I'm sorry, gang, but we have a long way to go before this technology is useable in any real sense, which makes the current price of it still way too high. It's too volitile to be a store of value for most people (Venezuela and other unstable national currencies not-withstanding), and it's almost unuseable in its current state as a currency. While it's true there's a lot of potential for some really impressive use cases, at the current time they're on the fringe of everyday use. From where I stand, $6600/BTC is laughably overpriced.

Interesting. So then what's your formula for fair price per usage? News flash .. there is no such formula. It's speculation of an enormous potential and most of us are OK with that because we see where this is headed. Have you looked at the P/E ratios for some of the biggest company stocks out there? My point, you could make your argument about any overpriced stock, and many of these companies will have far less impact and disruption on the future than Bitcoin and crypto will likely have.

So when is the next crash coming? It dropped from $20k to $6.5k like a rock before. I don't believe that the current support at $6k is natural. When exchanges claim of being hacked, like the recent hack event which is a lie, it means their price manipulations took a wrong turn and they suffered big losses.

No it went from 3k to 6.5k after falling from fomo so it’s about right

mt.gox claims due by oct 22....$1.09 billion in bitcoin will be dispersed to mt.gox claimants by feb 14 2019 and most claimants are expected to dump their bitcoin on the market...wont this cause btc to crash to $1000 or less in the next 5 months ?

Mt Gox victims have waited years to get their bitcoin back. What makes you think they'll suddenly lose all patience and sell when the market is in a dip?

because for them, this isn't a dip, this is a welcome surprise from their $200 entry level

Save any unexpected events like 100.000s coins being thrown on the market I think anticipation and or effect of bakkt might push the price another 1-2k at the end of the year until it flattens again to 6-7kish territory, maybe even lower in early 2019 (chinese new year theory).

At the same time I feel a lot of people are sitting on the fence waiting if price will ever drop to 3-5k territory again so that they can jump in buying whole coins once more.

Then sometime between 2019-2021 in anticipation or effect of the halving the next bull run will go off in the stratosphere of around 100k per coin, plus minus.

This profound ta is based on a feeling in my balls which I will never eat on live television, no matter the price of bitcoin, or bircoin.

Re: whales buy and sell with themselves in coordination to manipulate prices
by
BanditCharlie
on 16/09/2018, 10:13:46 UTC
I wonder if the whales are planning to use the SEC decision in 5 days to make another huge dump. Even if at this point, a delay or rejection is pretty much expected and shouldn't have that much of a negative impact. But just like that fake Goldman Sachs story, everyone is always looking for a reason when they see the price dive, and it does add fuel to the panic.

Probably. Seems like 'bad news' is used as a cover-up for whales to manip the price. It has dumped to many times on bad/neutral news that everyone expected and then the newspapers say the market reacted on the bad news.

I hate when the price stays pretty much flat like this, especially on low volume. It usually doesn't bode well. You know there's gonna be some whales out there who are gonna see an easy opportunity.

I wake up this morning to headlines of "Crypto crash greater than dot-com crash!" Then look at BTC and it is barely changed. The press is employing scare tactics against BTC by using "crypto" as an analog, which it ain't. I do not believe this is not intentional.

Many people are very comfortable with a 6k coin, is a 3k coin possible? We only just passed 3k about a year ago. I can see it getting there over the next few years

So long as the shitcoins keep getting obliterated and bcash falls further on the ratio, I am ok with the current state of affairs

Wealth Distribution 2012 (wiki): Top 0.6% (42 million people) holds 40% of the money

Bitcoin Wealth Distribution (Dec 2017): Top 1000 people hold 40% of the bitcoin.

(Personal math: If 80% of bitcoin have been mined already, and every bit of the remaining 20% go to non-whales, that still means whales control 32% of the bitcoin supply at the end of the day)

I'm a cautious HODLer, but can someone explain to me why this isn't really bad? Because on paper, this makes bitcoin look more lopsided than the fiat currencies it seeks to destroy. I don't want my mass-adopted currency to be at the whim of 1,000 people.
