Re: what is ETF? how this effect on bitcoin price?

ETF in combination with futures markets could be a great step towards mass adoption of BTC and crypto as its own asset class as it would allow more retail investors to enter the market while having the right advice from the licensed broker selling such assets.

Re: More Regulations For Cryptocurrency?

There will be ore regulations for sure, governments are more interested into what is happening and the SEC just created a new task force to investigate ICOs and security law violations, so no stopping in getting regulated but that is also something that mature markets need in order to grow and be adopted by the mainstream masses

Re: WHAT HAPPENS WHEN NO ONE SELLS BUT HODL?

Due to the scarcity of supply in btc if all decide to HODL and lock their token in their wallets, assuming demand stays constant the price would go up. But even if demand stays the same it would slowly go up which BTC has been doing over the last years

ICOs and Corporate Bank Accounts
by
BarryCrypto
on 27/06/2018, 05:25:48 UTC
It is no secret that traditional banks do not want to deal with crypto; nonetheless, every ICO has to hire people and pay rent which is mostly not done through crypto but fiat. My question would be: how do ICOs convert their ETH or BTC back to fiat?  I know smaller offshore banks are an option if proper KYC has been followed but also that is getting increasingly more difficult. Do ICO convert through OTC deals, just unload thorough regular exchanges or pay their bills in crypto?

That is very true that all tokens have some security features and that is also the reason why most ICOs would exclude the US as potential investors

Re: Should we pay taxes on Bitcoin?

There is a lot of confusion surrounding Tax and it is different to every country. Overall I would say that BTC is not really anonymous and that the government is tracking its movement so don't be fooled that this is anonymous and safe and no one needs to pay taxes

I think this should be the very last dip under the Wallstreet Cheat Sheet, we should see some sideways movement to confirm and then hopefully the start of the next cycle.

Taking profits never hurts anyone. but you should not sell the entire batch at once. maybe sell 60% and keep 40% for longterm as you already made some good profits there.

KYC, AML and CFT are a way for companies to protect themselves from legal consequences. If the company engages in AML by selling tokens to the wrong person the company could be shut down, so they need to prove where funds are coming from and who has contributed or received tokens.

Re: How deal with US SC regulations?
by

Companies can invest through offshore non US based companies. If you are an individual with a US green card or US passport you are strictly forbidden to invest if dictated by the ICO policy. Unfortunately, no way around that unless you can get a new passport.

Considering the current utility of the XRP token (note that the token and ripple net are different things) it is unlikely that 126 XRP will give you a 50,000% ROI in the next 2 years. Also look at token supply and market cap to see how much investment would need to flow into XRP that it would raise that much

Re: ICO Regulations: Asia
by
BarryCrypto

8)Thailand

Thailand Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has issued its stance on ICO in the middle of September. With the development and growing popularity of ICO, the Thailand SEC has developed a concern that “in some cases, ICO may be deliberately used as a tool for fraud and scam.”The statement wording suggests that Thai regulator is striving to find the balance between protecting the investors and supporting digital innovations. The commission viewpoint is in many ways similar to Hong-Kong, Japan, and the US SEC stances:

“Since the digital tokens can diverge widely in design and representation, some may resemble financial returns, rights, and obligations in similar ways to securities under the Securities and Exchange Act.”

However, to sum up, there is no doubt that Asian Market overall is still attractive to investors an will try to remain technology advanced in future.

Thanks for the summary really informative!

We have some news here in Thailand where ICOs have 90 days to register with the authorities (essentially enforcing more control over the process but also potentially legalizing ICOs). Crypto taxation on capital gains was also introduced. Overall great progress towards more regulations and potential legalization.

Hello,

i thinking about to invest some "bigger" amount of money into one of these 2 currencies. But i really dont know in which one. ETH should be more stable and safer?

If u had for example 1000$ and you would invest, which currency of this both would you take and why?

Are you planning long term or a short-term investment? Based on technical analysis or the fundamentals of the project?

The scenario of someone outright buying new miners for hashpower is unlikely. Who would sell and buy that many miners. That can happen if their is some,; to use that popular world, collusion between bitmain and Governments. Such a collusion is always a possibility but I don't think this can be done without someone noticing. And if the word gets out, then a PoW change is the easiest way to render all those ASICs redundant.

The other two scenarios are:

1. Pools coming together to attack
2. Bitmain flipping the kill switch.

Now the first one is unlikely because such a step will only hurt their investments by denting bitcoin's reputation. Bitmain flipping the kill switch and outright attacking the network as a last resort to prop up BCash is the most likely scenario.
This is scary as Roger, CSW and Bitmain have continued their tirade and marketing against bitcoin in mission mode. It is strange that there isn't more discussion on this in the forum. Maybe it is time to take this to the Ivory Tower.

Hey, I found another article relating to this, in this one it assumed that the attacker just buys the hashpower from Nice hashable reducing costs massively. It wouldn't work for POW coins with massive hashpower such as BTC but it would work for smaller coins.

Hey, I found another article relating to this, in this one it assumed that the attacker just buys the hashpower from Nice hashable, which would reduce overhead costs massively. With Bitcoin Gold and Verge having some trouble with attackers lately I would love to know if these figures are accurate.

https://www.crypto51.app/

Looks accurate for me. NiceHash has 84.09 MSol/s that could be rented for Equihash (though it would cost quite a bit of money), and BTG has a total network hashrate right now of just over 23 Msol/s, so someone could rent from Nicehash and become 75% of the BTG network.

Verge uses Scrypt, and has 2.38 TH/s on the Verge network. NiceHash has 20 TH/s that is rentable, so with enough money (renting 20 TH/s for 1 day costs ~15BTC), someone could become 90% of the Verge network.

Thanks for the insight, seems very interesting to me. Do you think this might have an effect on POW coins with low hashrate to switch to something like proof of stake or other alternatives to ensure security in their network?
