Help. Trying to bring up a brand new board and can't figure out what's going on...

So here is the error I am getting when trying to hash...

Code:

[2014-07-19 23:14:07] HFA: Found device with name HB2
[2014-07-19 23:14:07] Hotplug: Hashfast added HFA 37

[2014-07-19 23:14:10] [color=red][font=Verdana]HFA : OP_USB_INIT failed! Operation status 1 (Reset timeout)[/font][/color]

I tried flashing it with the latest firmware and this certainly doesn't look right...

Code:

Please enlighten me if you have any ideas. Thanks!

You have the same problem as me  just stopped hashing 5 days ago and gives this error. Teal said I need to get a multimeter to track it down.

After running fine with zero issues forever, I'm now getting a ZOMBIE status in cgminer with the following error displayed in the console:

ERR: Asked to memcpy 0 bytes from usbutils.c _usb_read(): 3075
HFA: OP_USB_INIT failed! Operation status 20 (Regulator programming error)

I've tried cycling power, restarting, doesnt seem to help.

Any ideas?  Huh

Any time I've seen that error it was a loose or disco'd power connector or the PSU wasn't turned on.  Have you tried a different supply?

I did, tried another supply that is guaranteed working, and got the same error.
Did you unplug the USB cable when you changed power supplies?

I don't think so, I powered down PSU 1, swapped PCI connectors to PSU 2, and powered up PSU 2. At what point should I unplug USB and plug it back in?
While the 12V power is off. Because the board can be powered over USB (at least the microcontroller), it never really fully power cycles if you just remove the 12V.

I've completely powered down the board (both 12V and USB unplugged). Then I plugged in USB first, then 12V. I still the the same repeating reset cycle with that error.

Is there anymore information I can provide to get someone to help me figure out what is going on? I'm now 3 days down with ZERO direction. I'm completely at a loss here Sad

this might be a cgminer config issue but can anyone help me with this error?
"HFA : OP_USB_INIT failed! Operation status 20 (regulator programming error)
edit:using cgminer 4.3.4

Now I get this one: "OP_USB_INIT: Tossing packet, valid but unexpected type 144"

Can someone point me in a direction?  I'm lost.

I had a similar error, but I cant remember if it was the exact same. My issue was a missing WinUSB driver. I installed the missing driver using zadig (http://zadig.akeo.ie/), and haven't had any issues since.

I'm okay now, it wasn't clear to me that power was required on all four plugs.  (at least it is in my case)  USB errors are for the most part gone.

My cooler has yet to arrive and I'm reaching thermal overload rather quickly even with "--hfa-hash-clock 100".
I'm assuming this is normal behavior without a cooler on board.  I'm going to see how much hashing I can achieve with my cpu air cooler resting on the die with the fan on it.

My face when I read this

http://i.imgur.com/kf5h3LY.jpg

No, don't do that, and dont just 'sit' the cooler on top, you need to attach it properly and securely with quality thermal paste and appropriate pressure on all four dies. But you seriously need a liquid cooling system to run these properly. I think you should get an off the shelf cooling system, corsair and coolermaster make factory sealed liquid cooling options (coolermaster nepton 280 fits perfect if you plan on cooling the bottom of the board with the radiator exhaust, which I recommend.)

Unless you are trolling us, which I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt, but if you still have power going to your habanero, please turn it off. You can contact me and I can walk you through the steps if you really need to, but please don't run it without all of the proper equipment and installation. It would be a shame to blow it up before you even got it working properly. There is plenty of information on how to install these on the forums, you can clearly see every habanero picture posted has some kind of liquid cooling attached. If you need any questions answered before you power it on again, please ask away but for everyone's sake please turn it off until you are completely sure what you need to do  Smiley

I don't think it exists.
@Gateway, @MrTeal: could we gain your opinions on whether the HF-Tool will/would work under windows. After a quick look. The tool is built from Python, uses pip to install pyusb.

Pip comes standard with Python 3.4 install. And the board identification code seems like it wouldn't be tied exclusively to linux.

Either willing to try it?

Pip installation instructions: stackexchange link

I have tried this. I installed the usb dependencies with pip and tried to run hftool. I got 'HFBulkDevice not found' about every second in a loop. I haven't dug into the hftool code to find what is causing this error, but I can confirm it doesn't work on windows.

Finally managed to fire up one board (was making frame for it) and noticed that 850MHz gave me around 630GH/s then I have tried 900MHz and it gave me 600GH/s.?

Not sure if it is my PSU or Voltage. Voltage was 0.86.
Try running the Pepper app. What you'll see if you go too high with insufficient voltage is that dies start stalling, and the temperature will drop.
I got these from gateway last night, so I'm pilfering them but attribution. Smiley

This is a board at 950MHz, with different voltage setpoints.
930mV
https://peppermining.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/06/930mV.jpg

940mV
https://peppermining.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/06/940mV.jpg

950mV
https://peppermining.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/06/950mV.jpg

970mV
https://peppermining.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/06/970mV.jpg

You can see the temperatures drop constantly at 930mV; the chip is being starved for voltage. It's much better at 940mV, and at 950mV three of the dies are running fine. At 970mV they're all running good.
With the python script gateway posted you can even adjust the dies individually. For the above case, you could do
./hftool.py -w 0:950@950,1:950@950,2:950@950,3:970@950
That would set the first 3 dies to 950mV and the last one to 970mV

Note that cgminer overwrites the frequency value (the number after the @) with it's setting, unless you use --hfa-hash-clock 1
That can be useful if you're really trying to push the board. You might end up with a die that just can't do 950MHz even at higher voltages, but the other three can get up to 1GHz. If that's the case, you can set the defaults for that board individually and run some of the dies faster than the others.

I've tried getting this to run on windows with no luck. I get 'HFBulkDevice not found' in a loop. Does this only work on ubuntu? I'm unable to get past ~875 at the stock voltage. Sad Is hftool the only way to adjust voltage?

Right now I'm running:

Anything above this and I get fluctuating temps like gateway demonstrated.

Thanks, great boards btw!

I think this group guy will warrant some positive feedback for waldohoover. How often does someone that sells mining equipment and shares stick to the "contract"?

We got what we agreed to. Also if waldohoover "broke contract" and returned 100% of the buy in, he would be expected to do that in every future group buy if a refund happens. Im sure people in past group buys that were refunded would come knocking too (if there was any).

That is the problem we did not get what we agreed too...

it is import to note this part:

"Since I would not be sending everyone USD- I would take everyones share (10K - 5% fee / 60 shares) and purchase BTC at the current rate and send it over to each shareholder."

To all Neptune shareholders (Batch 1 and Batch 2):

There has been a lot of speculation regarding Neptunes in the KnCMiner thread- Long story short, it's looking like they may not hit a return, may be delivered late (not a rush job on KnCMiner, they have stated they will take their time to produce the Neptune) and on top of that may have trouble running in US households. I know I have my own datacenter but the speculation has been leaning towards an even more power hungry setup may be needed and at this point investing more into the setup here (31cents/kw) would not make sense. I have considered moving to a warehouse setup but again, not sure how cost effective that will be.

Now, I'm not saying we should back out (yet) but I wanted to get everyones opinions/feelings on the situation and go from there.

If we back out and go the refund route, that means they would have to wire 10K USD into my bank.

Since I would not be sending everyone USD- I would take everyones share (10K - 5% fee / 60 shares) and purchase BTC at the current rate and send it over to each shareholder.

I think refunds in BTC after the above had been completed would be around ~.2 per share (rough estimate!)

Again, I'm not saying we will go this route but I wanted to propose all options.

1. We continue to wait and hope for the best

2. We go the refund route

Please, everyone who has a share(s) voice your opinion, thanks!

He's left the thread because he can't deal with criticism, or answer any of the damning questions. I'd love to hear the response to that. I like how he conveniently paid out of pocket knowing the actual refund would be much much more. I think he thought maybe no one would notice? Con artist's do this all the time, but aren't as sloppy.

See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Confidence_trick

"Guys, your money is gone! But I'm going to work to get it back, trust me."
"Hey guys look, I got your money back! Minus my 5%, but you're happy right? Ok perfect!"

When in reality, the con artist might have taken more than the promised 5%, but no one would ever be the wiser.

Didn't Karpeles pull a similar move at MtGox?

I paid everyone out of my own pocket 95% of their BTC (Just as the OP states). Now, I see you greedy people are looking for an extra payout if I'm able to recoop more BTC when the checks or bank transfer arrives

Great! Ok give us our hashfast refunds out of pocket while you wait, then. (You sound just like hashfast now, as if your shareholders are seeking a 'windfall', hashfast loves that word). 'Greedy people' haha. Ok who is greedy? You, pal. People don't trust you anymore because you pull crap like this. Calling everyone greedy, while you are the one who is profiting. Literally every other person is taking a loss, but you call THEM greedy while you will without a doubt take a huge cut. Incredible. Not hypocritical at all! Your lack of ethical decision making skills is frightening.

You arent willing to do shit for any of these people, it's all about you, that's obvious.

At this point I almost wish I would have let you guys stick with Neptunes and let it not give any ROI  Roll Eyes.

Omg waldo such a great jokester you are! Super funny, very classy. This is pretty much the only thing people need to know about you. That pretty much says it all. You obviously resent your customers, you should get out of this business.

Only way we were ever going to get refunds was by going with Ray Gallo or a legal route. However thanks to this group buy leader's inaction, we are now all screwed out of our investments. Waldo is supposed to be looking our for our best interests, I think it is clear this is no longer the case as he wont even stand up for us. He's already been paid, theres no more work for him to do that makes him any money, so there is no incentive any longer. Until the next batch of suckers comes in. These Titan group buys are all getting suckered I feel for them. I got suckered, i'll admit it, but never again. I'll say it, CoiningSolutions is an unethical borderline scam.

I wouldn't say 'nobody'...  because that's not true. We even had several shareholders offer to put up 20-25% each.

I feel like I missed something. I paid up, myself. But I have no idea how many other people paid up, and I don't recall any of the shareholders offering to put up 20-25%. :-S

We discussed it in waldo's HF thread. I'm not going to trash anyone here, let's just say there are differing opinions in the group buy about what to do about a refund. Waldo has positioned himself outside of the sphere of responsibility on this one I'm afraid. I understand why, he is making a profit either way, so there's no incentive for him to provide that level of leadership.

Marto,

I'm having an unknown issue with one of my technobit hex 16b. It is reporting a problem connecting as a usb device. I'm unsure of the cause, it just stopped working.

I'd like to try to fix it, but if I cannot, may I ship a non-working unit to you for repair?

Thanks!

Batshark

Edit: Got a response through technobit.eu, I'm going to ship 2 units, one unit does not work, the second is working, however there are burned out components on the bottom of the board.

Edit Edit: I'm only going to ship one unit, the one that is completely non-functional Smiley Thanks for quick response by the way!

So who is willing to provide 0.2 BTC for lawyer downpayment? At current BTC prices we need 10 ppl.

If we will not be able to gather crowd large enough the only option we got left is obviously USD refund.

I'm ok with with 0.2. Anybody else?

EDIT: I have looked again at invoices provided by waldo: http://imgur.com/qIMQ406 . On all of them says payment 100% via BTC...

I'm ok with 0.2 if coiningsolutions/waldo/DHJ/RG whoever he is will respond and pick up the torch for his own damn group buy. We need  someone with a cool head to manage this, not a hydra. Wheres he at, and most importantly, what's his excuse for ignoring us. That condition must be met before I send the guy anything, but I doubt it will be. Hell, if he spoke to hashfast they same way he spoke to me and others, I dont doubt that they are ignoring his ass.
