Baritus might be a deceiver, but you are no better by bringing the DGC community down with him just so you can initiate the first "Gridseed" attack, further inflating your already bloated ego.

Are you daft?

I am upset that I cannot use a different address for each transaction on my trader account.

Reading comprehension much?

Kinda bummed about Mycelium's Trader app...

I was loving this at first, till I realized that ALL my trades tie to one address.  When I receive money it goes to my local trader account.  Well, when I spent money, guess what, it went from the SAME account.

If I trade with person A, then that person will know my trade address.

If I trade with person B, "

If I trade with person C, who is really from a three letter agency, then person C will know EXACTLY how much I spent and received using Mycelium.  And that person could also trade with person A or B to find out what their address is also, effectively linking the trades with real people, and dates!  Why are dates important?  Well, having the date+amount makes it easy to calculate your TAX LIABILITY.

The blockchain will make it entirely transparent.

If you try to detach the Local trader account address, it will tell you that all your trade history will be deleted, but you can resurrect it by using the address again.

This is fucked up.  So, they have it set up where you can only be anonymous if you want ZERO trade history, and that means the trust/ranking resetting to zero after each trade.

I got a feeling this app wasn't exactly designed by a team of libertarians if you know what I mean Uncle Sam.

Another silly thread about the fantasy that Satoshi is a group of multiracial  LGTB agents working for the NSA.

Satoshi is one person, a man, white, and probably American.  He got the idea from reading Nick Szabo's blog, or from direct communication with Nick Szabo, or because he is Nick Szabo.

Of course, that explains the Japanese pseudonym perfectly!

Why didn't I think of that?

China crud has gotten quite old by now.

Just ban it and be done.

Quite frankly, I am tired of hearing about it.

Sell all your coins china folk, drive the price low, and I will buy every gd one of them on the cheap.

And localbitcoins almost lost all their coinage, or YOUR coinage.

What is the purpose of a third party cash transaction, REALLY?  Kind of defeats the purpose of trading in person anonymously when you don't get your private keys.

With Mycelium, it is truly peer to peer trading.

Oh, and in other news, Coinbase makes it easy calculate your due taxes on BTC trading.  Gee thanks.

If the power goes out for good I really can't see gold having much value other than its prettiness. It's an abstract reward of value that only retains that in a society that functions normally.

I'd be doing deals with the guy with a barn full of toilet paper.

Hahaha.  And then selling everything but the kitchen sink for a gallon of drinking water.

Breaking News January 2015.  After getting $100 in free bitcoin in 2014, a small group of MIT students dropout of school and invent a 2nd generation cryptocurrency that smashes bitcoin and goes on to be rapidly accepted by the whole world.  Hahahaha

Just saying... stranger things have happened.

Ha!  Glad Cryptsy will be there to offer shares five seconds after the first block is minted.

Thanks for the appreciation and this confessional.
I'm certain to slip again and be back. I'm only leaving now to check a calculator, Bitmain, my wallet (including NMC), Bitminter full stats (gui page),
I'll listen to "Bitcoin Baron" before a Segway into "Let's Talk Bitcoin", while I'm reading up on what all the happy Shibes are up to on reddit.

Just left Shibedom.  They are raising money for some kid who has cancer.

Those Shibes sure know how to light up a room.

If it were some random guy on the street that came up to me, I'd pick Bitcoin.  At least you can verify authenticity within minutes.  For gold, gotta wonder if it's gold plated.  Also, sometimes they drill the inside of bars and place tungsten inside.

If the gold were truly authentic, I would still pick Bitcoin as I think it has higher potential.

BTW, I do have some gold jewelry at home I got from a girl that wanted me to sell her a $350 netbook, and used gold name brand jewelry as collateral.  That was 5 years ago and the girl never paid me back cash to get back her jewelry.  That same laptop is probably worth $50 now, while the jewelry still holds it's value.

Not if that laptop has BTC on it!   Grin

New confession:

Spent the better part of yesterday installing a second SSD (64Gb) in my computer.  The install was easy (also had to install a better case fan and manage air flow obstructions)

It was installing Ubuntu 14.04 on it that was a pain.  Turns out it doesn't like Dual Graphics stuff from AMD, so I had to disable my 6670 graphics card in the BIOS and plug it directly into the onboard graphics run by my sweet ass 6800K AMD APU.

Then I tried to install 0.9.1 Bitcoin-Qt (trusty) on it, and man did I have to work!  Finally figured out, with the help of Ask! Ubuntu, that there were issues with crypto keys that were trying to access the repository.

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:bluematt/bitcoin

gpg --keyserver  keyserver.ubuntu.com --recv XXXXX

gpg --export --armor XXXXX | sudo apt-key add -

This is all so I can have the full client on a drive that is not used for web surfing and such (it also has to be manually connected to the motherboard for access).  And well, I fkn love me some Ubuntu, it is just so time consuming, nothing seems to work without some effort unlike Windows 8.1.

When I finally got it installed I got my fix for the day!  It is now gradually downloading the full block chain.  Now I can save lots of space on my main SSD when it doesn't have to hold a full client.

My wife told me last night, "You are starting to spend a lot of time on this computer."

I know what that means, I better do some TLC overtime.

Why, cause gold has A LOT of blood on its hands.

Look at all the atrocities that have occurred (are occurring?) when gold/silver is found underneath someone else's feet.

Re: In a bitcoin society! What is the role of banks?
by
Beef Supreme
on 01/05/2014, 20:17:58 UTC
IF such a dramatic change is ever to happen (which I doubt) then the major role of banks will still be the same as nowadays: give out loans and do investment banking. Most banks would get rid of savings and salary accounts rather sooner than later if they could but there is no money to be made from that. They just keep them because in most countries laws require them to back a certain amount of their investment banking (speculation) with actual savings and real money.

LOL, real money?

Paper mache'?

Re: The perfect gift for a bitcoin enthusiast? [Ideas Hunt]

- It has to be under $100
- it has to be able to be bought with bitcoin and shipped worldwide
- it should be something that most people into bitcoin will appreciate.

Unleash your creativity now! (links complementing the idea are appreciated)

p.s.
before anyone suggests drugs, nah that won't cut it.

Buy me a paper wallet with 99.99 dollars worth of BTC on it, and have it laminated.

Re: It's Public Now: MasterCard Offically Lobbying on Bitcoin in U.S Congress
by

I am on crypto and not going back.  Always felt like something was off with the economy.  People working their whole life, and dying with what...50K saved, if lucky?

You retire, big whup, you are 68 years old and all the spring is gone from your step.

You only got one life man, live it the way you want to!  Bitcoin will change that, IS changing that.  People will see real gains with honest money, and won't be practically dead when they have time to spend it and enjoy life.

Fk this feudal system bullshit, fk being a tax cow.

If Mastercard and Visa go belly up then I won't lose a wink of sleep over it!
