I feel like I'm doing something wrong.
I hooked up 3x 3-module units today and my temps seem a bit high. On all 3 of them my Temp2 sits at 60C with the fans running at 3500 RPM. Is this normal? Also what is a normal accepted/HW error ratio?

They changed the temp sensor for B3, it's closer to the chips, should have a hotter readout.

I was worried there wasn't going to be any room for overclocking.

Just tried that... No go.
I tried installing the 11.7 drivers and see what happened. Good news! Now when I start the miner the temperature shoots from 40c to 80c in literally 4 seconds. I clicked stop there... I'm afraid to let it go. Temps were confirmed in CCC/GPU-Z and MSI Afterburner?! The fan goes from quiet to 100% in that time frame as well.
I'm so confused... Im burning the whole thing down and starting from scratch with a fresh Win 7 install.

Well I tried jacking the PowerTune settings to 20 and it seemed to quell the problem, but not entirely remove it. The voltage drops are still there, but much less frequent. I'll play around a bit tonight and see what I find out.

Knew right from the title you had 69xx cards running..
Go to catalyst control center, write 'overdrive' in the search field and disable PowerTune by setting the slider to 20 on each GPU.
Otherwise the card will constantly throttle down and go back up in an attempt to 'save power' (a mechanism which might work for gaming but is useless for mining as you want constant peak performance)

Why does it always seem that the 69xx cards have weird issues! Underclocking in Linux, Opening GPU-Z while using the OpenCL miner hard locking windows, and now this! I'll give this a shot when I go on my lunch break. Thanks!

Just put together another mining rig and ran into a little issue. I got everything setup and running and started to test mining on one GPU when I encountered this (Check the 12V, VDDC and VDDC Current sections)

This came with an erratic hashrate and the GPU load never hit 99%. I'm running this machine with 3x6950s with a 1000w PSU and was only attempting to hash on the first card. I had a kill-a-watt plugged in at the time, and the draw from the wall fluctuated from 279-282 watts which seemed fairly normal.
Has anyone encountered this? Or is this just a shoddy PSU?

Eh I'm pretty sure clock speeds aren't going to brick your card. Voltage and heat will do it.
That being said, I put together my 3x 6950 setup with linuxcoin and ran into the same problem. I couldn't get the memory to clock under core - 100. I disabled CCC Overdrive and it didn't help. People said Catalyst 11.6 fixed that (maybe it did with 5000 series cards) but it didn't do me any good.
The only guys who seemed to be getting anywhere were the ones who flashed the bios to another manufacturers (I think Asus) or modifying the bios to change the min/max speeds.

Trust me.... Me too. But it works for me for now. -- I did the heat/thermal calculations and I'd basically need 4 tons of AC in the garage to keep it at or around 68F. So open-air/open-case for now. Each card runs between 55C-70C depending on the ambient temperature outside. Garage stays around 120F.
How are you running that without blowing fuses/breakers?

I have 200A service/load center to my house. I added six 20A breakers to the garage just to run that batch of rigs you see in the picture. I have Kill-A-Watt meter on each rig to make sure I'm at or below 80% load on each 20A branch.

Thank you you heaps for taking the time to do that! You are totally right. Now if the 'disable AMD overdrive' dude is correct, I just have to figure out how to do this under Linux and maybe my gf and my power company will hate me a little less.

ok, but if they were underclocked I'm fairly sure you be a bit cooler. Try a test - as is, then back to max. Run max for a few hours, post the two temp diffs. I'll be really interested in your answer since I haven't been able to uc mem very far before it reverts to max.
Ran a test.. I don't think I need to run it very long at all. The temperature difference was immediate. I waited until things stabilized then took some screenshots/pics of kill-a-watt. Here are my results. (Also, these cards are Sapphire http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102921)

and your temps are still 72? Mine are 69 for a 6970 at 880/780. It doesn't really look like that underclocking is working to me.
Yeah, the case is closed (with 2x120mm fans on the side) in my basement which is about 85F ambient right now (I live in PA, hella heat wave!)
Usually they sit lower than that
