Hey Jpapa,

It's free and easy to create this prop on BetMoose just to see if anyone bites. That said, you may want to consider creating a Fixed Odds prop where you can match with others at specific odds rather than our variable (Parimutuel) odds-based props.

In addition, you may want to post your message in an FX forum or elsewhere where folks may actually be interested in these derivative financial pairs Smiley

Cheers,

BM

Great to hear from betmoose himself. Didn't know that this betting exchange is still attracting players. Do you have any plans for the next months to attract more bettors? Because it seems your thread here is somewhat forgotten, though I don't know if you have regulars outside the forum.
And why it is showing that you are still in beta from your homepage? Are you still in beta or already out of beta?

One of the unique things about BetMoose is the authors/hosts of the propositions get a commission/cut of the amount wagered in their props - that creates the built-in attraction for those authors to spread their awesome bets with others. At this time, there are no current plans to grow BetMoose as the core team has moved on to other projects however we are still very much supporting and moderating the platform, and we've been around since 2013 so folks should feel safe to trust us as a betting escrow, in the Bitcoin space that kind of long-term rep is hard to find with any other platform or site Wink

Hi guys, I’m new to BetMoose.

Well, this thread looks like it’s been inactive for sometime. I would like to make bets actively and repeatedly on currencies, commodities and cryptocurrencies on BetMoose. I write  to gauge the interest if any on my type of bets, so as to know if it’s possible to get a counterparty on BetMoose.

An example of the exact type of bet I am looking for is described below.

Title:
Will X touch $90 first, then $110 might be touched till 31th December 2021?

Description:
X is arbitrary, so is the expiration dates and touch and no touch price targets. X could be a commodity, currency or a crypto. If I was to make this bet, I would specify what X is as well as the other terms(i.e the expiration date, price targets)but I am just giving a general example above. In the above title example X is currently trading at $100.

Decision Logic:
YES: Only if $90 is touched and $110 has not already been breached. After $90 is touched any other price including $110 may now be touched(no more restrictions). Note: $90 must be touched before the expiration date.
NO: If price touch $110 and $90 has not been touched yet. Also, if price remains between $90 and $110 and breached neither barrier before the expiration date.

Please if anyone is interested in taking the NO side(preferably) or YES side of this kind of bet, please quote and reply to this post. Preferably on the following underlings: GOLD, EURUSD, GBPUSD, OIL, BTH and ETH.

Thank you.

Just FYI, we've been around since there were only a handful of prediction markets and other Bitcoin books. We were one of the first to process 1000 BTC worth of total volume as well. We do not use Facebook or Twitter anymore due to privacy reasons as we are very firm believers of the original intent of Bitcoin and its anonymity.

If you make one post per year and it seems like elsewhere you're also inactive, it may appear to many that the site has been abandoned. That perception could also lead to a lower bet volume. Good that you have at least updated your twitter and fb.

We replied to the email that the user sent us a week ago - sorry for the delay, the user used a strange address that didn't pass our back-end syntax on the payout side even though it passed the front end. We'll get it sorted out and fixed for future.

Any ETA on that? bech32 addresses shouldn't be considered 'strange' anymore.

Our team will be looking into bech32 after this busy election season. Currently, we have seen less than 0.1% of bech32 addresses accidentally inputted and surprisingly all of them except this one user lost their bet so we haven't been notified until now. In addition, one user tried to use it as a withdrawal address but the system correctly rejected it.

No point spending development resources on something largely unused by the community at this time.

Why would a moderator cancel a proposition when there is a clear outcome? Firstly, it's the host of the prop that chooses the outcome. Our site is designed with the right incentives in mind - both BetMoose and the author of the prop get commission from *correctly resolved* props. If the host resolves incorrectly, the users report an incorrect outcome and the host forgoes their commission, we step in and resolve it correctly. We have no reason to cancel a prop unless it matches a valid cancellation criteria. In this case, no one pays any fees, no one gets any commission, and everything is returned back 100%.

Hey all,

Thanks to all the supporters and shame on all you doubters. We've been alive and well since 2013 when there were only a handful of prediction markets and other Bitcoin books. We do not use Facebook or Twitter anymore due to privacy reasons as we are very firm believers of the original intent of Bitcoin and its anonymity.

Our team is purely volunteer run and maintain BetMoose for the community who want more choice or options to create their own events based on real-life outcomes in either Parimutuel or Fixed-Odds styles. By being one of the older sites, you know we have been through all the up's and downs (launched BM when BTC was around ~$300) and won't vanish like a shiny new site as has too often been the case.

Email is the best way to reach us. We almost always reply within a few days, don't panic. Smiley

Well you may want to reword it then so it doesnt say "odds"
Also, it look like I placed a wager but cant win anything
This site will never be a major player

That column does mean Odds if the proposition is a 'fixed odds' proposition-type (see FAQ). Not many users prefer hosting those, but they do exist and are available on our site, if you wagered on one of those, you would get back exactly what you'd expect.

I want to like this site, I really really do.
But I made a wager not too long ago, and am not sure why the odds are as is:

.0001 x 2.905x = .0001 ?
Wouldnt .0001 x 2.905 = .0002905 ?

Those are not odds, you are quoting the weight. Please see our FAQ to how parimutuel bets are paid out. The reason you are getting the same amount back is because the winning pool of bets get paid out from the losing pool, in accordance to your weight. You have a small bet at a low weight, hence, does not claim much from the opposite side.

Good answer!)
Multicurrency is a tricky question. Maybe solution is to follow initial hosted currency, e.g. if the bet started by BTC, all the next bets should be in BTC, and so on.
I understand that you have lack of financing. But what about some external sources? There are many ways to get money for development. For example, Augur gained 90 millions USD during ICO.
Any ICO plans for Betmoose? This way is much better then just donation button hidden somewhere on the site.

Pegging or locking to any particular crypto defeats the purpose of multi-currency; most users will likely place in BTC anyway, so the situation will not change - people with ETH or otherwise will be forced to convert to BTC via us (and we would have to charge a small % to do that for them), and they would get back BTC as a result.

Regarding ICO, we have not looked into that at this time; maybe in the future!

Hi, Betmoose team.
I just registered on the site(2 weeks) and have some questions and proposals.
1. Why Betmoose is still in beta? What criteria should be met to issue full version?
2. Why no social activities? Last Twitter post was in 2017, FB is also not so active.
3. Incoming traffic is scanty. What is the point to host a bet when nobody even come to see it?
4. When other cryptos will be accepted? At least ETH, LTC, DASH.
Team and founders are in shadow. There is a lot of information about Augur or Gnosis team and founders. Last interview with Adam dated back to 2014. Come on guys, we need to hear your voices.
One important referral proposal. Is it possible to link hosted bet with profile? For example: I want to share my hosted bet with my friends. At the same time I want they register by my referral link. How to merge these two links?

Hi Romeo,

Thank you for your questions;
1. There are still some minor known bugs/features that are in our pipeline but our team went ad-hoc some time ago and have only been doing maintenance on the site. No further plans to expand are on the radar yet. The biggest reason for this is that the site does not make enough per user (~2%) to justify paying for more development work so we have moved on to other projects. Our core team is still around and checks up on the site routinely, we're not going anywhere, and we keep up to date with the latest security patches and changes to adapt to Bitcoin's evolution.

2. Same rationale as #1; BetMoose is more of a community site at this point and we cannot afford a social marketing manager.

3. You're welcome to share the prop wherever/with whoever you would like.

4. We do have plans and even UI design to support other cryptos, but have not settled on a good way to integrate them. For example, what happens if some people bet in Bitcoin and some in Ethereum? We would have to peg both currencies to something, otherwise, the value and weight changes as the cryptos fluctuate in value.

Yes it is possible for you to link directly to your profile and hosted bets. Simply go to your Hosted Bets page, and there's a share button at the top right! You can add the ?ref=RomeoDelta behind any BetMoose link to get the referral benefit.

Our team does not hide and is not in shadows by any means, we're not in this for fame or fortune; we saw a space in 2013 in the Bitcoin space and created BetMoose to fill that up. By being loud and public, it simply wastes our time having to field questions which do not lead anywhere + the constant influx of spammers and scammers. Our relative anonymity is for our, and our users' security. We've processed over 1500 BTC in total volume, including single props worth over 300 BTC, so if we wanted to run, we would have already. Hopefully you can understand our stance on this as well.

Happy betting!

There arent any

I really like this site.

What are the plans for moving forward? What plans are in place to help it grow etc?

Is the site going to be sold then? I mean this is a pretty good idea but if it isn't going to be improved further than whats the point of keeping the project?

Thanks

First of all, do not take a throw-away account's word for anything.

Secondly, we have a number of improvements and additions in the pipeline. At this time, as the site is mostly autonomous, our team is spread out and working on other projects in the crypto space. You're welcome to post ideas here and we can see if we can fast-track any of them.

In addition, we are always open to any serious buyer requests, however, the site is not formally for sale.

Some interesting wagers that can be made on this site:
Italy's credit rating, Amazon stock price, and the Elon Musk bet  Grin

My question is how much of an advantage (odds wise) is it to bet on a sports match at this site rather than @ another sportsbook?

Seems like you're getting worse odds here.

That is because you are not getting "odds" with us on the parimutuel bets (the ones that have horizontal coloured lines for the options). For these bets, you win depending on how many wagers on on the opposite side, calculated based on your wager weight. We DO have fixed odds betting, but it seems our community does not use them often. See the FAQ.

Great concept, however I think there's a bug in the site.

https://www.betmoose.com/bet/will-btc-hit-100-000-before-dec-2018-leech-protected-3742#bets-1

When I go to place a 0.1 BTC bet on NO here, it says the ROI is 0%, but technically it should be about 10% since I would be contributing 10% of the new total pot?

Can somebody explain how this is wrong?

That is because the "No" side is already heavily favoured, and so your wager would get diluted by everyone else's. See https://www.betmoose.com/faq#resolution2

Everything is back up and running. A series of miscellaneous minor bugs caused the downtime and our dev team didn't get notified on time.

Hey everyone,

Sorry about the downtime, it's a technical issue we are investigating. We actually had a bug with our emails hence why we didn't react to this in a timely manner.

We're not going anywhere, don't worry. Give us another day or so.

Hey CaptainLorca,

Our team is still around! The site is fully operational and you are welcome to post propositions and wager as you'd like.

We've made minor tweaks and improvements over the past year or so, including having a mobile friendly interface, reducing the bet minimums, and processing withdrawals faster.

Let us know if you have any questions!

So, if I grasped it right, there's a 3% fee which makes any bet with a ROI with less than 3% basically pointless?

For Parimutuel bets, the betting calculator when betting takes into account the fee, so if it says you'll win something, you will.

Hey Moose it's not too big an issue yet but I noticed that two of my withdrawals are stuck in the mempool using the standard fee. (0.0001)
It might also end up being an issue for others if they want to withdraw so I was wondering if you could implement an increased fee option for speedy transactions in the future as it doesn't allow me to set it.

Just to illustrate unconfirmed at time of posting.

Yes we're aware of this issue and have a fix in the pipeline. Sorry for the wait!
