Finally got one of my custom shelves built last night!

Holding 4x5830

I have a couple more machines, but they are more boring.

Very nice, but are you not worried about the cards getting very hot in direct contact with the wood?

Seriously, even if the cards got up to 100C, wood doesn't self ignite until 300C or above

Build your own. You just need a PCI-e expansion chassis. Speaking of has any one used one of these http://www.dell.com/us/business/p/poweredge-c410x/pd

4 x 1400W hot-plug, high-efficiency power supplies
N + 1 power supply redundancy
Maximum draw of 3600W

17 amps at 208, 30 amps at 120
that'll make your lights dim

Re: ATI Radeon 5770 Single Slot
by

Hi,
I have a very old mainboard with only 1 PCIe-Slot. And only a ATI Radeon HD 4350. The hash rate is very weak. 7.5MH/s.
Most of the good actual cards are 2 Slot-Cards. I can´t install them in my old shitty computer.
But I found a ATI Radeon HD 5770 Single Slot card. Have anyone installed this card?
How many MH/s?
www.technikbilliger.de/xtv3/product_info.php?refID=G&info=p162114_GRA-PCIe-XFX-Radeon-HD5770-1GB.html
Nils
PS: I´m only 14, and german. Sorry for my english.

You do know that "2 slot" cards only plug in to 1 PCI slot, it just hangs over and blocks the 2nd connector.
or do you somehow have an old ITX case with only one card slot cutout in the back ??

yes
there is no way you can ever "ban" it completely, no way to filter the p2p traffic

I wouldnt use less then a 400W PSU on a 69XX series card,
unless it's on a atom or zecate CPU that only uses 25 watts total for the entire mobo.

I was wondering if this could happen.  The problem is, it's summer here in texas, and it's damm hot.  A spike in energy use alone cant possibly justify busting down someone door looking for drugs.  If they do, I have my lawyer on speeddial.

Re: 6870 Cards - How fast have you gotten them?
by

4x Asus EAH6870 cards here

only using ATI control panel, GPU at 1015Mhz, mem at 1100 (in ATI control panel)
getting solid 305MH/s connected to btcguild.com

guiminer w/ phoenix flags -k phatk vectors bfi_int aggression=10 fastloop=false

no bios mods, overvolting, or reflashing

I am only able to get to 1000MHz clock using afterburner. even then, I can only hit 289Mh/s using OpenCL and 280Mh/s with Phoenix. On the machine I was testing I had XFX cards, which I have heard aren't fantastic.

I have a 4th card waiting to go in my machines, but can't get afterburner to work with 4 cards. Has the ATI control panel worked well for you in your quadfire setup? what version of windows are you running?
2 motherboards with 2 ea, 1 crossfire 1 with a dummy plug, same hashrate on both

Re: Cut 25% off your electric bill- save on your mining rig costs

The state of Texas here in the US is deregulated and actually has a website that lets people know which company is offering the cheapest power:

http://www.powertochoose.org/

The trick is to sign up for a fixed rate vs. monthly, because then you'd be at the mercy of the commodity markets.

Well, the fixed rate is going to be higher because it assumes higher energy rates. The premium you pay for a fixed rate is basically an insurance cost, which probably includes added profit for the utilities. Chances are you'll end up paying less on a variable plan.

that will depend on the deregulation laws in your state.
In texas, thru my providor, Green Mountain Energy (100% wind power) paying month to month is almost double what a 6 month contract rate is. .167 for monthly plus fuel surcharges vs .0913 fixed for a 6 month contract.

so i better get 2x 6950 than 2x 5870 ? does the brand count ?

tkx

when it comes to 6950s it is not the brand that counts as much as the design. when buying
a 6950 for mining you want a reference card. that is a card that AMD designed and manufacturers
copied pretty much exactly. it is those cards which can have the extra shaders unlocked and thus
improve performance. they also overclock well and you can control the voltage. plus they have
a dual bios in case you screw up the card you can revert it back.

hope that helps.

Any tips on how to tell if it's reference card or not Huh

anything different must be stopped.
The system we have now is working, has worked for over 200 years, why change it.

change is bad. change is evil.  change must be stopped.
