just to illustrate how ridiculous these claims are, I created this little parody:
"It's my job to assist in the destruction of the Linux operating system. Currently we are researching various methods that will be used to attack free software in the near future. Previous attacks have resulted in usage drops, but we will not be content until Linux has been driven completely underground to a very small amount of fanatics with no chance of taking off into the main stream software world."
"I want Linux to be destroyed. It's not personal, this is just a requirement of the company I work for."
The problem with your parody is that there is evidence supporting it. Microsoft extended support for Windows XP after netbooks threatened to prove that GNU/Linux is more versatile, yet still usable by the average person. As a result of Microsoft pressure, netbooks moved from Solid-State disks to spinning disks in order to have enough space to install Windows XP. This results in a slower, more power hungry computer that is simply less functional, other than in storage capablility.
Microsoft also charges manufacturers approximately the same license fees for both Windows Mobile and Android handsets. At the same time, Microsoft limits what features the Android phones are allowed to have. You can thank software patents for this situation.
TL;DR: Your parody does nothing to prove one way or another whether this annonymous person is telling the truth.
Double facepalm. You fell right into it.

Vegetta/Flippro is this the new you? I bet what you really want is for Jessy to come back to the forums and yell at you for having really dumb ideas.
Seeing as you obviously don't know the difference between Java and javascript you shouldn't give any advice on this matter whatsoever, not even to buy a book, because if he follows your advice he will buy the wrong book...
He should do this project in Haskell or Assembler instead of javascript. It would be much better for the community if he did.

Re: A small city in Europe: What would happen if...
...you took 50000 casascius physical bitcoins and threw them all out of an airplane above the city?
Ignoring the fact that they might kill someone and just floated down to the ground like feathers, they would probably be swept up and thrown in the trash as litter.
Sad to admit it, but bitcoin society need credible trusted organization, which would regulate the market of bitcoins. Some rich man could take on this responsibility, but it would be much better if it was an open non-profit organization with the Supervisory Board consisting of eminent people with a good reputation.
I'm sure Matthew Wright would be more than happy to take this responsibility on.

Re: Project Mainstream - So we got Bitcoin on Alex Jones. [Link Inside]
This is sickening me. I am issuing a challenge to non-trolls in this forum to step up and put some support behind Bruce. He's not perfect, but he's our de facto spokesperson, and having his name dragged through the mud makes us all look bad. For the sake of Bitcoins, stand behind Bruce Wagner.
Bruce hasn't done anything wrong. He's not a scammer, a rapist, a pedophile, or any of that stuff people are accusing him of. He's doing his best for the community and we should be thanking him.
Yes, you're right and I agree. We should all be thankful that we are getting scammed by a pedophile rapist.
As for this one, I believe you are underestimating the potential of this new economy severely. Think about it this way... Upon the creation of e-mail, there were very few users, and the value of such a service must have been similar to what you believe the value of BTC is now. People looked at it as a useful tool, as BTC is now, but they never anticipated that it would ever be able to compete with the U.S. Postal Service and stand alone. Today, everyone uses e-mail, it has been a tremendous success for both businesses and customers alike. This will be the same for BTC. As of now, there are few users by proportion to the population, but everyday that number grows. At a certain point BTC will be able to stand alone by itself, and current fiat currencies will be worth about the value of the U.S. Postal Service is now.
Before leaving a comment, you could have spent more than 15 minutes thinking about it first.
US dollar is a mess, euro is a mess, the whole fiat world is a mess. And yet bitcoin is in a continuous downward spiral? Give me a break...
It's completely unrelated; Bitcoin is still way too small, untested, and "unsafe" for normal people to use. It's like asking why WOW gold isn't reacting to the recent financial crises.
Ill take Second Life Lindens any day over WoW gold!
I really do hope this forum dies. Not because I don't like some of you here ( I really really do) but because it has been literally over run by clowns/trolls/ and spammers who don't give 2 shits about this project or anyone else in our community. They have taken optimal advantage of the relaxed moderation in this forum, and have probably even hurt the prices of Bitcoins through their constant of cyber bullying and over inflamed misinformed postings. It has become a JOKE, and you can clearly see why the developers took this off their project site...
I believe Bitcoin will survive but if it can't survive the world at large, with all its clowns, trolls and scammers I'd rather know now. Mommy can't protect it from the world.
I'm done with this thread. Close it in the name decency please!
Bitcoin is not Libertarian, Liberal, Conservative, Progressive, Democrat, Republican, Christian, Muslim, or JEW.
Ok, all I said was Libertarians like bitcoins. I don't see what your problem is with that. What I do think is your putting to much of a value on the community aspect of bitcoin. Guess what, there isnt any. Just a bunch of sharks swimming around chatting with each other waiting for the next meal.
Now, what I do find offensive is your use of "JEW" next time you write a line like that use Hebrew. Kind of makes you sound like a racist there.
You are a fucking idiot. Jew is not a racial slur. Next time you write, know what you're talking about. Kind of makes you sound like a fool here.
Oh fuckface.. "JEW" written all caps like is a racial slur.. I happen to be Jewish now fuck off.
Damn, you're jewish? You must be freaking out right now, watching all these shinies slip through your fingers.
I didn't know caps made ordinary PC terms into racial slurs, SIR. I hope you have a wonderful day, FELLA.
Go back to your trailer and dream of someday owning a double wide.

Ok, you've lost me. If you want to talk about that you need to provide some back information.
"Genius" here implies that several bitcoin-related projects have been hacked recently (MtG, Mybitcoin, bitomat.pl and some more lesser incidents). In his mind, those single-person-ran websites equal to Bitcoin project in general. I can't blame him, it's the interface between people and coins. Thing is, interfaces come and go, coins stay.
Ok, now I see what you're talking about. The problem isn't the money. Its the theft itself and the bitcoin online "banks" have proven to be less than reliable. Combine that with the no chargeback feature of the coin and confidence dwindles from multiple robberies that cant be recovered.
Also, it being open source doesn't mean anything for solving the problems in Bitcoins, any meaningful changes to Bitcoin software means you would have to start a new blockchain, defeating the purpose.
The biggest flaw with Bitcoin is that it never takes human nature into account. However, flawed people use it, therefore it will always stay broken and corrupted.
Veg is just too caught up in the emotionalism of bitcoin.
It's a response for people who establish a link between some amateurish websites that got hacked lately and Bitcoin at large. There is a connection, but its one way - derivatives are not influencing the currency.
Ok, you've lost me. If you want to talk about that you need to provide some back information.
You are missing the point of what he said. He and I meant that the Venn diagram of people who are die-hard libertarians and people who believe in Bitcoin looks like a slightly blurry circle. Everyone blames all the faults in Bitcoin on external forces but never Bitcoins themselves, just like Libertarians do "X only fails because the market isn't free ENOUGH", etc.
Both have big flaws but no one here can admit that.
Also, this forum has a huge contingency of the "dumb but always think they are right" variety (e.g., you) that continuously make big mistakes again and again and drive away anyone with an ounce of sense.
Watching this community slowly go from "anarcho-capitalist" to slowly re-inventing every financial institution that we use in the real world has been pretty funny though, for the insane irony of it all.
Bitcoin has it's fault's but only because people are to stupid to adapt to it's most basic requirements. But once again you still don't get it do you? I can tell the majority of the people who post demanding for new features and/or usability don't get it.
IT'S OPEN SOURCE.
If you think something about Bitcoins sucks then CHANGE IT. If you don't care enough to change it, then ask yourself this question. Why are you here?
The product has to meet the requirements of the people. Not the other way around.
What your "requirements" that haven't been met?
I think they have been said here many many times. I am not going to list that again.
