by

Still says shipping before Sept ends...
which, imo, is optimistic, given we still haven't seen pics or specs - Manufacturers are in a sticky spot at the moment, with the price still sliding... Nobody in their right minds would spend fiat on Hardware, when its more economical to just buy BTC...
And unless the cost to manufacture and ship is less then the hardware will generate before diff makes it obsolete, why continue...
Particularly as the manufacturers are competing against their customers by deploying huge farms?!?!?!
Interesting times ahead (as ever)

Some interesting numbers here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=518111.msg8633549#msg8633549 on BurtW's thread

You idiots should stop funding Chinese mining farm.... seriously you think you can beat them?
For every S4 sold, it will fund 5x S4s for their farm.

What do you suggest as an alternative?

I don't think that after August updates you can change speed by ssh. It seems that advanced config, indeed, overrides ssh values.
Cheers Biodom
Do you know is it possible to add the higher settings to the drop down?

Hey just a quick one - I feel I am missing something here. Maybe someone can enlighten me.

I have an S3 B1, running the following...
antMiner_S320140826.bin
cgminer 4.6

Load is nice and low - but the hash rate seemed to be below what I am seeing on other S3's  - so I was trying to push it a bit beyond to see if I could 'encourage' a few extra GH/s from it.

So SSH'd in and added the following -

option  'freq_value'    '1406'     #256.25M
option  'chip_freq'     '256.25'
option  'timeout'       '15

:wq -> reboot - but it is still showing as 250 in the gui - can anyone confirm if the new 'Advanced Settings' tab under 'Miner configuration' will over ride the manual entries I made in the asic-freq file?

Also - while I am at it...

I have such wide variance in the hashrate of the S3's anyone any suggestions on coaxing the slower ones towards 500. 2 of them are consistently at 505+ but some just seem determined to go slower - like sub 440 and even down as far as 400. Have tried playing around with freq's and FW and different PSU's etc. Has anybody had any solid results with checking/re-applying the thermal paste or even just re-seating the heat sinks, as I have not gone down this road yet?
Thanks

I've been waiting for the namecoin folks to release a patch that lets namecoind run for more than 30 minutes before crashing.

Shocked Ah - fair enough! Thanks for the quick response

That's the price for 10 units.
Oh - I do feel foolish now  Embarrassed -  thanks for highlighting my error. My inability to read, notwithstanding... I still would be wary of an unproven seller, at least until there is some evidence of their boxes hashing and them actually shipping. Anyone had any dealing with X-hash?

what is asic miner tube ? do you have a link ?
bitmaintech is expensive, 0.58 btc for ony 453 GH/S, plus it does not have a PSU
I've noticed this:
http://www.x-hash.com/pro/a1
I could get 10 TH/S for a relative low price with immediate delivery. it is 609 per unit per 1 TH/S including PSU.

Aside from the solid advice given here...

You're probably making a huge mistake if you order from Xhash... or from any company that doesn't have an active thread in the Hardware subforum.
Please do your research or you WILL get burned.

What you failed to notice is the extra zero on the end of the price -
" Price: 6090.00USD"

they are charging Six Dollars and nine cent per GH.... WALK AWAY

Bitmain miners are solid and reliable. They ship when they say they will.
SpoondooliesTech if you want to preorder.
or if you are happy with self assembly -  AM tubes shipping now-ish.  https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=735728.msg8310763#msg8310763.
Also Look at BTCGarden or KNC or Lighteningasic or Bitcrane or or or....
Or maybe even consider MegaBigPower Franchisee
To see what you are up against - here is 5% of the worlds hashing power in one place - www.thecoinsman.com/2014/08/bitcoin/inside-one-worlds-largest-bitcoin-mines/
Best of luck what ever you decide ;-)

*BUMP*
Happening this Thursday - Should be a good one -

Block Chain Analysis Meetup

This talk will outline the tools and techniques of block chain analysis. We will present a number of case studies, including:

* an analysis of the profitability of a popular gambling service;

* an investigation into the movement of suspected Mt. Gox bitcoins before and after their declaration of bankruptcy; and

* an attempt at identifying exactly which bitcoins may have been mined by Satoshi Nakamoto.

This talk will be given by Martin Harrigan. He is the founder of QuantaBytes, an Irish startup developing a suite of tools for analyzing and visualizing Bitcoin's block chain. He is also a co-author of one of the earliest academic papers to study the network properties of the block chain and its implications for anonymity.

I'm sure it's a little before most of the people's time on this forum, but way back in the day, people were calling UPS claiming to be the recipient of Avalon miners and requesting they be delivered to addresses other than specified on the packages.

TL;DR:  QUIT POSTING YOUR SHIPPING IDENTIFIERS OR PEOPLE ARE GOING TO TRY AND REDIRECT THEM.

Yeah, good call - was about to post same...

snip (pool.vericoin.info), don't bother it's not worth it. Experimented by pointing a 1Th/s sha-256 miner at it for 24 hours and got $1.50 usd (5.63 vrc) worth of vericoin. snip
Yep I tried that too - 1Th Sha256 for 21 hours on the 27th/28th - totalled 33 VRC so far

nowhere near as profitable - BTC mining woulda generated 0.0318 but I only got 33 VRC = 0.01425 @ 43k
even at 55k its still only 0.01815

However there are still payments trickling in 3 days later - so results - not conclusive - but id be surprised if I get another 20+vrc
