The first thing to do; Look for reliable Bitcoin sites and check their features. Next, purchase some bitcoins depend on your budget, decide if you want to start on that amount. You have an option where you can sell it instantly or hold it for long and wait until it gets expensive, before selling it.

Re: Is bitcoin dead?

Bitcoin cannot die.  It is decentralized and trustless.  How useful bitcoin is will determine its value and how widely adopted it becomes, but all of the constant hand-wringing about bitcoin dying is sole because bitcoin is fundamentally a disruptive innovation.  It takes a bunch of new concepts and complex technologies and mixes them all together into something that nobody expected, understands or can predict what will happen with next.  So we may have no idea just how important bitcoin will become, but it certainly isn't going to "die."

It can’t be inflated. It can’t be counterfeited. It is portable, easily divisible, borderless....

Bitcoin is a good way to invest your money. But don't invest all money on Bitcoin.

Invest 50% in bitcoins, 30% in ether and remaining 20% in bitconnect.

The benefit of bitconnect is that it would give you interest on your lending, other than price appreciation.

Investing all of your money in one investment is a bad idea. Even with well established financial tools like stocks and bonds. With bitcoin there is a greater risk. The only advantage bitcoin offers is a steady supply, and a slowly growing demand. This leads slowly but steadily in price rise. Price crashes will occur, but that's how markets function.

BTC cannot be like other national currencies. But that is what makes it stronger and unique hence cannot be manipulated for corruption and other similar evil activities.

I do think that bitcoin has a wonderful future.  I also think that the internet has a wonderful future but that doesn't mean that I'm going to go out and invest my money into routers and servers.  Now companies that make routers and servers, are something different.

Invest in companies that do something useful with bitcoin.  Don't invest in bitcoin.  One reason I think that bitcoin has a good future is that it is a terrible investment.

Re: Are cryptocurrencies better than regular currency

It depends on what you want to use it for.. The attraction for Bitcoin is that it is transparent to governments in its movement and that it is difficult for governments to control access to it. So if I want to buy a large quantity of some illegal substance, I can purchase it from anywhere in the world with Bitcoin and no one can tell. Or if I want to bribe a government official, and not have anyone able to tell I did, I could use Bitcoin.
Some people even look at it as an investment, but while that MAY be profitable, it is a commodity and can go down in value as easily as go up.

You put your computer to work solving puzzles and earn Bitcoins. Unless you have a really fast computer, or are very lucky, you shouldn't expect to get much.

Most people do it as part of a "pool", which means you cooperate with other people and split the profit. Thus you get a steady trickle of fractional Bitcoins instead of very small chance of 25 at once.

It's not TOO hard to set up.

Re: Can bitcoin survive?
by
BitBuff2000
on 11/10/2017, 10:41:34 UTC
I believe Bitcoin will survive in the long term unless a vastly better technology replaces it.

I see absolutely zero threat to Bitcoin from a government or bank controlled “cryptocurrency”. The government already has a digital currency that it controls called the dollar. The thing Bitcoin provides that people see as so beneficial is its lack of centralized control. The centralized control aspect of currencies IS the part that people who use Bitcoin are trying to escape from. Believe it or not, there are quite a few Bitcoin enthusiasts, including prominent ones in the public, who would like to see governments ban the use of Bitcoin because they believe this will help to strengthen Bitcoin as an alternative.

Re: Are We Dead Without China?
by

I doubt it  Grin

China is an important part of the market but it is only part.

The US, Japan, Europe are more than enough to let crypto survive.

Also China isn't going to ignore technology as important as the blockchain long term.
