Re: Circle is the Circle Of HELLO?! from initial frustration hell
by

on 04/06/2015, 20:36:26 UTC
I am always fair, honest, willing to offer the benefit of the doubt (whilst maintaining savvy privacy
and purchasing practices). Cool

the initial "mobile" app for Circle in my rural area on iOs 8 with last years iPhone didnt work
after more attempts than archangel Gabe himself. Angry

With the time difference to the offices of "circle" mindful, they were able to walk me through the
basics.  I am amending the original complaint to now be one of complacency.

Support is helpful, and patient. (not outsourced 24/7 to another country and I like that)
 Wink Wink
there are "limits" to this service, albeit this could be the perfect ticket for an introduction to
"life using crypto currency only".

I'll be looking to find more discussion on how Circle is being used, by whom, and its growth/success.
 Undecided

When  ever it sound too god to be true...it usually is!

There are just far too many factors for new developers to keep in mind...

Maybe the geographic location wont allow them to operate?

Maybe the application is just one that SUCKS!

I cant get back the HOURS and HOURS wasted attempting to get a supposedly

Simple application to work....
or supposedly contact aNON existent support staff..

(btw  you are only goin to circle around the standard FAQ list...so dont expect more)

The world is FULL of BUSY people.

With something taking MORE than 6 hours of my7 time???
how can I politely tell you to go ......

Try the new smartphone app CIRCLE only need your name, address and bank details.

They also have a website.

I was excited to see this; could it be that the powers that be have already made trouble for Circle?

I installed the mobile app (Ios8), it has no features!   It repreats (Loops) the email verification required...
ZAwaat?  only a dozen or so times now!

UNinstalled, reinstalled, tried again...
went tot eh website, attempted to email support...same "freeze"    nothing sends...nothing works

I hope they can fix the issues...a sinister personality could presume the wait is for other reasons.

Cex.io is also offering BTC for USD with their latest interface you can check the site http://cex.io

More difficult than anticipated. May require same full address, ID, verification methods as Bitstamp per use.
Im presently attempting the mobile verifications...albeit they're fraught with poor instructions

Well if it sounds too goo to be true it usually is Smiley

Plus, I see Paypal payments, in conjunction with Bitcoin, not a big fan of that.

Oh, and there is this :

Registry Registrant ID:
Registrant Name: Domain Admin
Registrant Organization: Privacy Protection Service INC d/b/a PrivacyProtect.org
Registrant Street: C/O ID#10760, PO Box 16 Note - Visit PrivacyProtect.org to contact the domain owner/operator Note - Visit PrivacyProtect.org to contact the domain owner/operator
Registrant City: Nobby Beach
Registrant State/Province: Queensland
Registrant Postal Code: QLD 4218
Registrant Country: AU

No company information anywhere, so avoid it Smiley

Thanks a lot for clearing this out Kiss

I decided to noodle around here checking with you experts over the same spam/scam/or possible "damn"!
considering the venue where I first saw this offer, Im fairly surprised almost 15 days later to see Strevos is still offering the same rates at the same places not being tossed out on his kiwi?
BUT it raises question  number 2 (behind door #2):   What do you all think about buying from gamer sites?
Are there terms requiring a percentage be spent at the site? other terms? I'd have guessed it might be both a) easier to load a wallet from a gamer site  and b)a wee bit pricier- with the gamer serving as a bank of sorts they're entitled to make something for offering the service.
There must be someone with some input i Hope?
Cheers

SilkRoad was something that sparked bitcoin's discovery and surge into the 'mainstream'. Not only that but it was a revolutionary idea (the market, escrow system, general idea). You should be saying thanks.

couldnt disagree more. I was watching bitcoin well before the bust and media hype over SR1.
My initial reaction to the mainstream media attention was "YIKES!, Damn it! Why couldnt it be a precious
metals scam instead? The whole BMdrugs, weapons, association is going to draw from the wrong
societal sector"
Perhaps it brought bitcoin to the attention of a new group or faction- again the western english language
media loves to focus on the ugliest, the worst news available.
I wish the same attention wouldve been given the first time bitcoin broke through the $1,000. USD mark
or equivalent in EU, AUS, etc.

i will agree that the market concept has its merits. Too bad.

Thanks,I dreaded needing to do that.
I was so hoping it would simply WORK

Sadly, Im beginning to have serious doubts about my entire btc
involvement, thinking it's perhaps just for serious computer enthusiasts,
those in the industry only.

i do mean sadly.

many, so many of us just do not have the blocks of time this requires.

so disappointing.

Seems pretty obvious. Another HARSH slap came in the State of Florida :

I cant help but scratch my head and wonder,
"when I walk into my bank and see a teller, withdraw hard currency,
has anyone ever asked what am I going to spend the $ for"

  LOL!

Re: [ANN] Bitcoin blockchain data torrent= need some help please
by

on 21/01/2015, 17:04:21 UTC
Well Thank you for the advise and assistance,
The Torrent I was working from finally did finish up.
By all accounts it's apparently kept up to date.

after complete, I copied the downladed 21G file into the App Data file as instructed
(windows), then restarted Bitcoin core.

Core is "stuck".
It hangs at 35 weeks "Syncing". When I peek at the Debug log- it repeats
Data already processed.

this is sort of a hang? I cant get it to run through the blocks any quicker... Ive tried close, restart,
same.
Should I snap a shot of the debug log or does anyone know a work around?
Any assistance greatly appreciated...Ive been working daily on this since Jan. 14.

Thankyou Madness, et.al.
I double checked the torrent in my app (qBittorrent)
its the sourceforge source.
Is it possible for me to add an additional torrent ontop or /instead
without losing the 89% already done?
Possible to combine the 2 sources?  I believe I chose the one of 2 recommended in original
article/post as it's the one I most easily verified cert/sig for.(been a couple of days)
Ive got the qBittorrent settings also max'd out for my connection
at 300kiB/s although certainly not running anywhere near that rate.
I see the Peers only range from 1-9

ETA at about 21 hours currently. WOW!
    Thankyou for you assistance!

Thankyou for assisting many of us and making this  avail.
After more than 6 days of downloading Core,I got frustrated
and followed the advice Bootstrap the Blockchain Synchronization
id found at GitHUb, which eventually lead me here.
https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin/blob/master/doc/bootstrap.md
The Torrent in qBittorrent is  not one iota faster than the original core download of the blockchain?
The Torents been running for 2 days, and ETA is now 3days 10 hours
showing 88% done.
it must be a self defeating process to keep beating myself up like this! LOL!!

At 88% almost 89 complete I'd hate to trash it all.
any way to get through this without it taking a month os nights running?
i was so excited after reading the github instructions, as I thought it might be all completed in less than an hour.
any help is much appreciated. You're a gem to the community, obviously patient and helpful
as noobs I for one appreciate ppl like you and hope to pif when / if eventually set up.
