We've grown quite a bit this week.
A warm welcome to our many new users! Bitgrin is private digital money, for everyone. If you have not done so yet, this is a reminder to download Kingfish on your Windows 7 or higher PC to get the smoothest experience with Bitgrin. You can download it here:

Grin source code? Is this a Grin coin fork? I was one of the major contributors to grin in times past, having done most of its improvements with no pay. I came here to introduce myself for I believe code thieves must know who I was back then. Ive never groused about not getting paid for my work coz I always knew sometime I will come up to whoever stole my work and clobber the thief.

Yes this is a Grin fork. I'm not sure what you mean about "stealing". It's an open source project.

Hey everyone! It's been a year since we've kicked this project off, and I think it's time to recount what we've accomplished so far.

1 - Released the first wallet with Windows, Linux, and Mac OS support for MW with a friendly GUI and easy payment solutions, Kingfish
2 - Updated and corrected security flaws found in the Grin core code (this was pulled back in to the Grin project, which we initially forked from)
3 - Got listed on BitMesh  Grin
4 - Got delisted on BitMesh  Shocked
5 - Got listed on Vinex  Grin
6 - Got listed on STEX  Grin
7 - Got listed on Vitex  Grin
8 - Got listed on CITEX  Grin
9 - Mobile wallet support provided by ViteX wallet
10 - Crossed over 1k Twitter followers
11 - Grew our Chinese community to over 1k on the WeChat group
12 - Successfully hard forked (TWICE!) without chain split issues

Congrats to everyone participating, in celebration we're going to also do a little Twitter giveaway (you can find it on @BitGrin Twitter account)

Let's keep this rolling in to 2020  Cool

The wallet does not sync. The devs said they would fix it but coins are stuck on exchanges.

Try using the latest kingfish release
https://github.com/bitgrin/kingfish

If that doesn't work remove bg_chain_data from your ~/.bitgrin/main

Other fixes include connecting via a VPN that allows for port forwarding.

Upcoming Kingfish2.0 should fix all those issues.

Huge development update! Grin

We’ve been relatively quiet about this, but we’ve been working on a simple to use JavaScript library that will allow developers to easily integrate with BitGrin and build wallets, exchanges, games, or anything they can imagine.
We just hit a milestone with this project and now have nodes working with a single process. In the short term we’ll refactor Kingfish to use this library which will dramatically improve performance, stability, and crush dozens of existing bugs all in one go.
In the longer term we expect this to become the go-to library for third party developers to build out an ecosystem of high end BitGrin applications, similar to how web3 enables this for Ethereum dApps.

Both the Kingfish update and the BitGrin library is expected to be completed in the next week or two. We’ll make the library available on npm for all to use freely.

Please help me.

Today was a bad day for mining on the Bitgrin dev pool.  Several miners complained about reducing, unchanged and disappearing balances.  Apparently there was a node upgrade and possibly a fork, one of the devs said generally (with no detail):

"It seems the pool was mining a fork for a few hours today so those coins weren’t valid."

Unsure what the status is but I would like assistance with the "shared transaction id" from the pool (so that 749 XBG I sent to myself aren't lost).

This project seems promising from several perspectives (the tech, the economics) but I have to say that the mining experience, communicating with miners, usability of wallets, pools, etc is, well . . . an opportunity for improvement.

That is true, mining at this point is not as user-friendly as we want it to be.
Keep in mind this is still very early days and its and miner adoption is definitely a priority for Bitgrin, we are working on infrastructure so it's seamless

Why is it mine?

Coins to the bitmesh exchange are not credited for a week!
They say that the reason is fork of the coin. Network is unstable.
The developer does not even appear here.

It's probably a failed transfer, try to do a wallet check.
Your coins are most likely in your wallet. (because of how MimbleWimble works, they might not appear in the UI without unwrapping)

The last message from the developer - April 06, 2019, 09:26:20 PM
Coin is dead

We are more active on twitter, discord, and telegram.
I will try to make more time to respond here, thank you for reminding me

Hi everyone,

just updated the ANN with our roadmap, which outlines our goals for BitGrin in the short and midterm.

Two major topics are the interactive transactions (both sender and receiver need to be online) and the GPU/Asic transition of the PoW algorithm.

We believe we can create an infrastructure that doesnt force both sender and receiver to be online so that users can transact in BitGrin like on any other cryptocurrency.

The second major topic is based on our believe in decentralisation:
Asics are specialized mining hardware with costs starting at thousands of dollars and thus increasing the barrier of entry for mining by a huge margin.
For better decentralisation we want to keep the barrier of entry for mining as low as possible, which could mean that we will keep the share between asics and gpu blocks at a certain ratio and do not transition fully to asics.

Dear BitGrin Community,

we are happy to announce the world first GUI Wallet release for BitGrin, which features a simple one click enviroment to send, receive, withdraw XBG between Users and from mining pools.

There is no need for experience in Linux or with CLI anymore - the BitGrin wallet comes as a binary which installs after one click and the wallet can be used by anyone with zero experience in computer science or crypto.

In the beginning the wallet supports Windows and MacOS, but because its written in electron, porting on other platforms wont take long and will happen soon.

Please check this following video for a preview of our amazing GUI Wallet
