We are working on that interface but due to the bitcoin interface being custom coded, all of the coding for the affiliate program has to be altered as well.  We are planning on creating an interface for all of our affiliates to track their clicks and sales however at this time it is still being created. We want to make sure especially it is very secure and keeps these statistics confidential.

For now if you are seeking to track your affiliate there are many third party software solutions available or you can check in with us monthly and we can give you your statistics.

Re: To the owner of http://www.flexcoin.com/, A Scamming site

iddo,

I said his business plan made sense. That doesn't mean that I agree with it, support it, or vouch for it. A ponzi scheme makes sense too. That doesn't mean I'd put my money into it.

I am always willing to give new businesses a fair shake before I immediately call them a scam. It doesn't mean I support them or vouch for them.

After looking at the website again some of the offending language has been removed. I also see more information about where the interest is coming from. What I don't see is what percentage of fees and income is paid out to customers nor do I see a lot about security which troubles me.

Am I going to store my bitcoin there? No.

Do I think he is a scam, I don't know, I reserve judgement. His posts seem very defensive but that alone doesn't reflect on his business ethics.

Only time will tell whether he is successful and what his business practices are. In the end it will really just matter if what he offers appeals to people and they get value out of it. He will either gain his customers trust or not.

Re: Professional Marketing Folder & Brochures (6 BTC Bounty)
by
BitQuestr (BitCoinWorldMarket)
on 20/07/2011, 07:02:25 UTC
I personally think this is a fantastic Idea. I'd be willing to pledge at least 3 BTC. I'll be attending the International Gift Show here in San Francisco CA on Aug 6-9th looking for new vendors for BitCoinWorldMarket.com and we'd love to have some fliers and general bitcoin promotional/informational materials to pass out.

If someone can get some brochures at least designed on the "What is Bitcoin" and the benefits to merchants we'll pay to print them up and pass them out at the gift show.

We are not only seeing this as an opportunity for us to find new vendors but also to educate some of the over 1500 vendors at this show about bitcoin and why it makes sense for them to accept it.

Any graphic designers out there want to support bitcoin by contributing your services on this project? I'm sure others would be willing to donate to the bounty as well.

Dan

P.S. Let us know if any of you are in the area! We would love to meet anyone from the community at the show (Moscone Center SF). If you would like to volunteer to help us pass out flyers, meet vendors, and generally proselytize bitcoin, we have one free guest pass ($40 value) to the show.

I agree with crypto,

Also what does the length of time he has been a member of the forum have to do with his credibility? Yes there is a certain amount of credibility that members with a long record of using these forums inherit, but if legitimacy requires a certain number of posts or length of time on this forum, new bitcoin businesses are doomed to fail your test.

I would certainly hope you aren't suggesting that only forum members that have "Hero" status are the only ones that should be trusted.

I certainly admire the early adopters of bitcoin and those who have been in this community a long time. They have a tremendous amount of wisdom and experience to share with those of us new to the community. I just hope that they will encourage and help newcomers and new businesses rather than feel threatened or immediately be skeptical because they are new.

Bitcoin Loans and Lending; The Weakness in The Bitcoin Economy
by
BitQuestr (BitCoinWorldMarket)
on 12/07/2011, 18:18:52 UTC
I've been reading about bitcoin now for just over a month and am fascinated with the economic possibilities. Myself and my partner managed to launch the largest Bitcoin Market so far at www.BitCoinWorldMarket.com  Every day there seems to be new and exciting news regarding the growth and acceptance of bitcoin and I for one am so excited at the future and possibility of bitcoin becoming extremely widespread.

One of the very interesting things about bitcoin is that it is a deflationary currency. Normally economists list massive deflation as a bad thing. Bitcoin embraces that with its infinite divisibility.

The one weakness that I see in bitcoin is that the current model for loans and lending is incompatible with bitcoin.

Imagine Taking a loan out for 100 bitcoin at even 0% interest to keep it simple. At the end of the year you have to pay back that 100 bitcoin. If the point of your loan was to pay for something now so you can create more income in your business the volatility in the bitcoin market would make it infeasible to pay it back. If Bitcoin doubles for example in value it is like having to pay back 100% interest. If it drops in value by half the lender then is basically out half the money they lent out.

With the longterm likelihood of an overall gaining in value due to bitcoin being deflationary it just doesn't make sense to have any loans, interest, or even credit be issued in bitcoin. Fractional reserve banking in bitcoin is completely unlikely.

The only way i'd see loans or credit working is if you just get the loan in your national currency and exchange the money as needed and spend the bitcoin right at the moment.

As a business man this creates an interesting dilemma. Most small and medium business DEPEND on short term loans and credit. Suppliers accept Net 15 or Net 30 payment terms. Inventory costs are highly variable and often come all at once rather than at a rate related to income.

I see the future and complete acceptance of bitcoin as an alternative currency, however I don't see how we will ever separate it from daily exchange with a fiat currency.

Thoughts?

So far he has been pretty active on the forum communicating with members and great at taking feedback.

Instead of being so abrasive perhaps suggesting that he create more transparency behind his company on who the owner is would be more effective.

There are going to be thousands of new business in bitcoin opening over this year, most of them new members to the community. Gaining bitcoin holders trust with their money is going to be an important step. Hopefully we can be encouraging to new business owners rather than treat them with disrespect.

So far there has not been a single complaint about BTCrow.com and he really has the only other escrow service available that I know of.

Good luck to BTCrow and I hope you do offer more transparency on the identity of the business behind BTCrow.

Kind of ironic we all want to be able to use anonymous escrow but we demand to know the identity of the owner. I doubt knowing his identity will make it any more or less trustworthy in reality. Only time and a history of reputable business practices will create real trust.

The Vitamin Shoppe is selling the Nutriva Organic Protein through amazon for $8.91, the list price is $16.00. We offer it for .96 BTC at current market rates ($14.47). Our price saves you $1.52 over the MSRP.

A google search shows other online suppliers prices vary from $8.57 to over $20 for the same product. Local prices in my area are listed as $13.99 from the Vitamin Shoppe in Boston.

As a consumer with bitcoin we have a choice.  However at the moment if you would like to pay for items in bitcoin your only choice for this particular item is through amazon via spendbitcoins.com or us.

We are very excited to see spendbitcoins.com offer their services as this opens up a lot of possibilities for the use of bitcoin.  There are plenty of products however that we carry that Amazon does not. As we grow and bring other merchants into our marketplace we hope to have more and more products that are not available anywhere else.

The benefit to shopping at BitCoin World Market rather than amazon, is that more of your money ends up back in the Bitcoin economy than other alternatives. While many of our suppliers only accept $USD, we are starting to get a growing number of new merchants that prefer to be paid in bitcoin. By shopping with us you know that we are pushing to create economic trade in bitcoin. If you are really looking for the best deals and save the most money on everything you buy, then please convert your bitcoin to dollars and shop that way! For those who want to support the bitcoin economy by shopping using bitcoin we offer you another choice.

This is only the beginning for BitCoin World Market. As we grow and offer more products we hope to continue to find the best quality and value for your bitcoin.

We recently were reviewing our prices and found an error in our site that was actually using the manufacturer's recommended retail pricing rather than our standard preferred markup which is lower. We have since corrected the pricing on our site and we encourage you to check through our catalog again!

Thanks everyone for the fantastic feedback and the orders! All orders that were placed with the higher pricing will be receiving an email notice concerning the price change and a refund of the overcharged bitcoin!

We really appreciate all of the response and feedback!

Thanks for pointing that out, that does sound a bit ridiculous. I have changed it to : "I agree to the terms and conditions"
